I've scoured the market for a better camera app with the adjustments that this phone deserves. And I'm settled with camera fv-5. Hasn't got very good reviews but it suits this phone better than the stock one.

Does this app prevent the zoom breathing that happens when recording videos with the stock camera app?
Haven't tried video and not sure what you mean by breathing .
The photo shots come out better and bigger file sizes. And you can adjust sharpness and saturation ect , like on htc. More control over camera adjustments.

Have any of you noticed when running third party cameras (even the Google camera) that there are white specks in the video. You can really see it in low light.
The only camera app that doesn't do this is the LG Stock camera.
Just curious. It's a bummer, I love the custom ROMs, but the camera is a deal breaker for me.
I know that there is a port, but it's too glitchy. I missed some really great photo opportunities because it "couldn't connect to camera".

Hello, i am going to buy Atrix. But camera takes pictrures ugly quality. Is there any way to improve quality? Compression? What´s about Droid 3 camera app?
I don't know about Droid 3 camera but, I'm using the camera app from MIUI as main one and for even better shots I use HDR Camera+ from the market. Try HDR Camera (not +) first to see if you like it, the + version has a lot more settings and uses flash as well.
Camera Zoom FX works a lot better, you can find it on the market.

Ya well Yikes Atrix Camera
Ya there are software options but the camera just isn't that great to start with. But the rest of the phone is amazing thanks to the development community.
using neutrino's rom atm and you can deff. notice the difference with this one or stock camera, I think it's the MIUI one
so the different cameras apps actually affect the quality of the pictures themselves huh? i thought they were there for effects, stabilization, etc.
i use miui camera aswell..just perfect !

Yeah its the same camera no matter what app/apk you use.
Only thing you can do to improve the camera quality is up the Mega pixels to 5 if you only had it on 3 for some reason. Other than that, totally placebo effect.

pictures with a HDR app look a lot better as you effectively increase the dynamic range of the camera

Not really I took two identical pictures one with MIUI Camera and one with Default CM7 camera, you can definitely tell a difference. While the sensor remains the same different apps will process pictures differently.
The camera in neutrino rom is good, but you loose the front one. Still Atrix just doesn't have the megapixels.
Hey guys after coming from my Nexus which took terrible photos I would like to use the s3 to take some photos of the kids etc. I have bought photo fx previously and am wondering how this compares to the default camera app? What settings do you guys recommend like HDR burst shot etc? Thanks for any advice
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2
Anyone?
Why don't you try a few settings out and see what works for you? I use hdr mode for landscapes as it takes a while to merge two exposures together and kids don't tend to stay still for too long. Macro works as it should. That's about all I can tell you.

I have tried a lot of different apps for the camera, but stock seems to match or better them all for me. I am no expert but am happy with the results. As stated, hdr is brilliant for still scenes and the colours it produces are exceptional. Don't use for your kids though unless their asleep

only reason why Im not on CM10 is because the stock Samsung camera is that good...almost SLR minus, aperture and shutter adjustment...

stock camera is the best afaik.... just fiddle with the parameters and find your best combo for various scenarios
I like stock camera too. Great images at all.
For instance... I have found that the stock camera does a great job on action photos with the sports setting whereas the Super Camera doesn't do so well, but it excels at still photos compared to the stock one. Photo comparisons coming soon... I would also appreciate if you guys could post photo comparisons too and what settings you used.

for me, i love Cymera and Vigenette
settings wise, i only change the mega pixels and i dont touch the iso and other craps.
I like Camera Zoom FX

Only alternative I really used was Camera Zoom FX. I use stock 99% of the time, works great for me.
I tried several a couple days ago and found Camera FV-5 works really well. The low light shots in that app were hugely better for color accuracy and detail than stock, Super Camera, A Better Camera, Focal, and Snap Camera. Plus Camera FV-5 does make low light shops look like oil paintings, you see the noise and the details both. There is a free version, try it out, I think you'll like it.
I am using the nexus camera app with photo sphere... deff works smooth on my custom rom, can't complain but much better than Samsung stock

Why are you saying that about a completely different phone? It's not even relevant.
Photo comparissons would be nice. What i have found is that stock camera with flash or no flash takes ****ty pictures at night, especialy faces, all look like water paint. Its that stupid denoise algorithm...
As we all know nexus 6p has excellent camera hardware, but I am not satisfied with camera app with no functionality and sluggish.
Please recommend the best camera app you guys using.
I'm using the Sense camera, love it

I'm digging the moto x pure camera...allows you to touch anywhere to take a shot.

I got bad performance and quality from it.
From where did you get it? Maybe some ports are better than others.
The Moto camera is good also, but I like the features on the Sense camera the best. I'm just using the camera from the play store, but to do so I'm using the Sensify Xposed module. I sometimes use camera360, but have also started to mess around with ProShot. But the HTC camera is my go to camera always.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
I use Proshot if I ever want to use manual, but haven't had to use it lately.
Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Camera FV-5 is also a great Camera App, I wish there were a way to make the Color OS Camera work with the n6p

Proshot or the stock camera for me
Thank you guys.. I will give Proshot a try..
I was using camera Fv-5
but all of a sudden it stopped auto focusing. That's bad. I'm on latest PureNexus ROM.
I like the stock camera, ProShot and Manual Camera the best. The Sense camera was my all time favorite, but I've had some reliability issues with it in the past on non HTC phones (even using the xposed hack)
Too bad third party apps like proshot can't do HDR.
I'm just making this thread because I am just not too thrilled with Google's camera. I'm hoping together we can figure out which camera ports out there work well for the 6P - and I'm hoping for some 3rd party camera recommendations as well.
Remember not to link paid apps here - just name them if they're paid
I'll start...
I tried the Moto X Camera shared by @not-i. I thought it was pretty responsive. The UI seemed a bit tricky when trying to use the "Control Focus & Exposure" feature.
Any other cameras you guys care to mention? Maybe I'll throw them in the OP. Let's see if this goes anywhere
The HTC camera port is not too bad but i wish it had Manual Mode.
This may sound crazy but I'd kill to have a port of the Samsung camera...
Be nice to have the Color OS Camera Ported

I like ProShot as a paid app. Wasn't excited about the Moto X camera cuz it didn't do HDR. I'd LOVE the moto x camera with HDR. I still use the stock camera app day to day because even ProShot shows too much graininess in dark shots.
Any suggestions for good night camera or action camera
Snap camera HDR. Also has a second api. Lots of options.
There's a trial option so you can check it out, can alter the icon within the app.
Edit: scratch that, just installed it and it doesn't work wtf? Gutted.
I'm using the HTC camera as my daily.
