We already know that video recording bug is present on our devices running cm11 so we should wait for stable ion kernel

I've found that FX Camera takes glitch-free pictures on ics roms. The resolution isn't amazingly high but seems to be the best option so far for me... you can also create a shortcut to the normal mode on ya home screen.
Hope this helps some people!

ICS MIUI based on Lord's work
I've been trying some shots, and sometimes there are glitches, and sometimes there are not... anyway it does improve what i had before (glitches ALWAYS)
When using flash, pictures are always o.k., when flash is not used, sometimes I get that blurred portion on top...

Not the best camera app around but good temp solution til we get the stock one working.
Thank you, work here for the moment...
FX camera is the app for photos
but what app is the best for recording video?
the camera glitches is the only thing keeping me from using ICS virtuos quattro.
Unfortunately you can't record video at all on any of the ics roms (yet...)

Hey guys,
Is there any app that can be used to shoot panorama photos? I tried a couple of apps but the photo's quality is very poor. The stock camera app of Galaxy 3 doesn't have the option to shoot panorama photos.
I tried Pano and Photaf Panroma. Both work great for me.
Pano - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.debaclesoftware.pano&feature=search_result
Photaf - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=obg1.PhotafPro&feature=search_result
PS If you have a problem with the quality, then you can manually click photos from the normal camera app and the make a panroma wth photaf or any other program on the internet.
Thanks mate. It works fine
This is a panorama pic which I took using the app Pano
Stock camera have the feature to shoot panorama image

Hi everyone,
Seen that the camera touch to focus is still broken in our SGS3 CM10.1, I've decided to make this script that will solve this problem for you by installing the HuaweiCamera that fully works!
I've tested this on the latest cm10.1 nightly and it worked...
How To:
1. Download Script Manager from the Play Store;
2. Open Script Manager and give it root permission;
3. Open my .pdf file (actually is a .sh file but I think that XDA forum policy does not allow the upload of .sh file. Don't worry, Script Manager will see it like an .sh file )
4. Before you hit RUN, click on the superuser image (This gives root permission at the script)
5. Then, hit RUN and the device should reboot after a couple of seconds...
6. You now have a fully working camera on your CM10.1 SGS3
For any question, feel free to ask
PS: To see the source, just rename the .pdf file attached in fix.sh and open it with vi, gedit, etc...
Edit: re-inserted the script...i had uploaded the old version XD Now it works
so, it just installs the Huawei camera? cool, but how's that original development?

Tried, but not at all satisfied.
I want the stock 4.2.1 camera to work with CM 10.1, but unfortunately, it wont work. So I'll install any 3rd party Camera app. Also Panaroma is not working.
BTW how can I remove it?
Anyways, for your work, +1.
I got over this problem with 3rd party camera software. It has touch the focus and have lots of functions.

What 3rd party does anyone recommend? I've tried MX camera but found it to be clunky.
Does installing this affect the normal cm camera? Because this works but now I get the error of can't connect to camera on the cm camera and I haven't got this error ever before.

In my experience it does not affect the CM camera in anyway (I'm using this fix for two week and so far no problem)

PROCAPTURE is awesome. WAY better than FX Camera or MX It does not include a video mode though, when you choose it's video mode it simply opens the phones stock camera video app.
Currently using Camera ZOOM FX and loving it. Dare I say I actually prefer it to the stock app, which I used for almost two years exclusively, on my Galaxy Nexus.
Hidden the stock camera app using Trebuchet and defaulted Camera Zoom FX so it opens via lock screen swipe. Perfect solution to the only noticeable bug I had with AOSP on the SGS3.
Regards.

I'm curious. How is the stock camera confusing? I found it to be one of the simplest interfaces ever.

I agree the moto x camera app is the best interface I've used. Google camera is too hard to switch modes and has needless letterboxing.

Guess i should have been specific. It's the "carousel" settings thing i just find off-putting, that's all. I just prefer the Google camera version.

Very good idea....it really should say "CAMERA quality improved". Simply edit your first post, and click "GO ADVANCED". Then you can rename the thread.
Are you able to assign the "shake to start" gesture to opening a new camera app?
You can if your phone is rooted and Xposed is installed. There is a module called twisty switch that allows you to launch other apps with the wrist twist, instead of the stock camera app.

Probably should mention that the app A: Uses only 6MP of the 12 the X is capable of. And B: Duplicates the official Gallery app.
Didn't saw a real image improvement....
