[Q] have no google apps and the screen problem - G Pad 8.3 General

I have a new G Tablet 8.3, the Chinese Edition of G Pad 8.3. I have two questions:
1. there is no google apps on stock rom. How to install them? If I install CM11, Can I keep the knock to trun on screen feature?
2. I turned down the screen brightness a little. I found the terrible light lattice on the bottom. Does it normal?

I also buy the Chinese Edition, and I had tried the cm11,I can tell you ,you can knock to turn on the screen but can't turn off it by flash cm11.
If you like the LG UI and you also want google apps ,you can flash the hongkong KDZ. Now,my device is hongkong edition by flash HK kdz.
The light trouble is normal in Chinese Edithon and HongKong Edithon,as I know

take a look at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SmiSEC3rbHI , does your gpad do the same? This is an issue of gpad called light bleeding.

@johnerratic: thanks. another question. where to download hongkong KDZ and how to flash it?
@katsika: Yes, It exactly the same. The problem of light bleeding is too severe.Maybe I would return the pad.

if you want to return back to stock use lg mobile support tool instead of flashing manual the kdz file. take a look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2471370 and here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2590185
i ve only found the gb version of stock rom for lg g pad here http://storagecow.eu/index.php?dir=Xda/LG+G+Pad+8.3/

the brightest device I've ever owned and while it's nice, it's also the first device that I keep below 50%.

[Q] Flashing older firmware results in "Rooted" flag

Hello folks, I was recently just messing around with Roms for my LG G2 (International) version. I forgot which one was my default rom, so I looked it up through the trick where you enter your IMEI and it comes up with the latest firmware on the LG site.
Anyways, I don't really like the update with the knock code function as it seems to cause the knock on function to be very temperamental where as it works perfect with the initial kit kat release.
When I try and flash this file:
http://storagecow.eu/Xda/LG G2/Stock/Hong Kong D802/HK KitKat 32GB D80220A_00.kdz
In the "firmware update" screen it displays a big red "ROOTED" message. However, If I flash the firmware that was linked off the LG site , it displays as "UNROOTED"
It's not a big issue, but I am kind of cautious as if the device suddenly dies for whatever reason, I could be out of warranty if they check for such things. .
Does anybody know what causes this issue? Thanks.

Right kdz for a clean flash

Hello,
I have a LG G3 32 GB and my firmware is
V10g-SEA-XX.
I saw on the forum here a method on how
To flash my machine, but i do not know which
Kdz file is compatible with my phone.
Notice : on my current firmware, when the phone is turned on for the first time or when it is being reset to factory setting i have the abillity to chose Hebrew as the phone's langwuge, i would like to have an appropriate kdz which would let me have the same option.
Also, if i would flash an italian Kdz, would my firmware stay XXX- SEA-XX ?

Maybe this is the one you are looking for:

Go to your phones settings and find the IMEI code. Type it into the search box and download the right KDZ for your LG G3.

Touch screen not working after update

Hello,
I got a brand new D802 from Hong Kong a few days ago.
It was working good until I did an update that was suggested to me by the LG PC Suite.
The upgrade was from D80220B to D80220D, after the update was finished successfully, the device restarted and since then, the touch screen isn't working properly.
The meaning of it that I can't even slide to open the device because the screen acts "crazy" pressing multiple times and not in the correct place like if its calibration is ruined.
I tried doing factory reset but it didn't help, I even tried flashing the KDZ file, but the result was the same.
I put it in a shop where they told me that the digitizer and the screen needed to be replaced.
My questions are:
1. How can the digitizer get ruined from doing an update using the official software?
2. If I get a new device (I bought it on eBay and I'm sending the device for a replacement), and I'll do the update again, will it happen again or is it a faulty device that was doomed to be ruined?
Many thanks,
Ice

When you say "faulty" you mean the device?
I can't do anything with the device because the screen doesn't work anymore, even if I flash stock rom from scratch.

I think you have refurbished LG G2. It is not D802. Open your phone battery cover there you will find exact model of your LG G2.

Maybe, but chances are you'll convert your phone into a small Wi-fi only tablet. That's if it doesn't bootloop.
Not sure about LG, but I know for a fact on some HTC phones, flashing DS radio firmware on SS phones disables all GSM radio functionality.
hi, i have a G6 H870 chilean version, without branding, can i install the UE Firmware? and the other question, is if i won't lose my warranty?

I just did the same last night. I'll let it "settle in" for a day or 2 to see the results.
So far a little lag (in opening apps) compared to Nougat, but stable. Battery drain seems slightly improved but I'll report back later.
If the lag doesn't go away I'll go back to Nougat

I also came from that version
I didn't do a factory reset. because I figure that once I reinstall everything (and I actually use all the apps) I'll be in the same situation.
The slight delay in apps opening is slightly annoying. I suppose I can get used to that, but I prefer a snappy device even if I don't have immersive mode or context menus on the icons...maybe I'll roll back to Nougat
So after a few days, a few observations:
1. The lag seems to have decreased with a few days of settling in. Still not exactly snappy, but less delay in opening apps.
2. There is a new setting in Oreo under apps-battery usage- a toggle for "background activity" . It is available for some apps but not all. It stops these apps from running processes in the background (not connected to "power saving exclusions"). This seems to have improved battery life a bit.
3. No crashes or freezing.

I got the Philippines variant for LG G6 which is an H870DS ESA and I flashed a Singapore H870DS SEA oreo firmware (.kdz) and got stuck on LG Logo after I complete the flashing
1. Opened Uppercut / Runned LGUP directly
2. Choose the H870DS kdz file
3. Choose "update"
4. Start the flashing and wait till it finish
5. Stuck at LG logo
On the firmware website I see there is now an "official" version of oreo for the Israeli device (dated 8-8-18)
Anybody try it?

Developers Options Crash

Hi, after I updated my H870 to V20 I have developers Options bug. Everytime I'm trying to open developers options when my phone is set to different language then English, it crashes. I have to switch my phone to ebglish everytime I want to open developer options. Whem my system language is English there is no crashes.
Anyone know how to fix it without changing language everytime I want to switch adb debugging?
Why did you switch to an Android version not customized to your phone?
Oh, I missed one letter. I updated my phone to v20G and then v20H. I think it's not even possible to flash G6 with LG V20 unmodified firmware. ?

That's not what I meant. The V20 and the G6 are different phones. You've been around long enough to know the pitfalls of flashing an OS to a phone not meant to use it. I would suggest that either you reflash the stock OS or go for a modified OS meant for the G6.
I know that today is 1st of April but it's not funny anymore.
I flashed my LG G6 (H870) with firmware version v20G, not firmware from LG V20 (H990 or any other variant).
