In order to call people abroad I use a discount service that offers rates far better than those offered by either Verizon or Skype. In order to use this service I have to dial their 800 number, than eneter my own PIN code, and then dial the international number I am calling. So a lot of my contacts are structured like this: 1-800-XYZ-ABCD; 123-456-7890; 011 country code, city code, number. I used this system for many years now and it worked fine on my old Droid Charge phone. My new and highly improved Galaxy Note 3 handles it well too, except when the dialing begins it displays not the number I dialed, but the first number in the phone book that has the 800 number. For instance if my phone book looks like this:
Friend 1:
Hom: 1-800-XYZ-ABCD; 123-456-7890; 011 F1Country F1Area F1HomeNumber
Mob: 1-800-XYZ-ABCD; 123-456-7890; 011 F1Country F1Area F1MobileNumber
Friend 2:
Hom: 1-800-XYZ-ABCD; 123-456-7890; 011 F2Country F2Area F2HomeNumber
Mob: 1-800-XYZ-ABCD; 123-456-7890; 011 F2Country F2Area F2MobileNumber
Relative 1:
Hom: 1-800-XYZ-ABCD; 123-456-7890; 011 R1Country R1Area R1HomeNumber
Mob: 1-800-XYZ-ABCD; 123-456-7890; 011 R1Country R1Area R1MobileNumber
Relative 2:
Hom: 1-800-XYZ-ABCD; 123-456-7890; 011 R2Country R2Area R2HomeNumber
Mob: 1-800-XYZ-ABCD; 123-456-7890; 011 R2Country R2Area R2MobileNumber
No matter which number I choose the Dialer application ALWAYS shows that I am calling Friend 1 home number. It does dial correctly what I chose, but it is very confusing when it prominently displays the wrong name.

Hi,
I have an T-mobile mda compact for a few days now. It's really an excellent machine!
Under one contact I have several phonenumbers. For example:
Michael home +31 (0348) 123456
Michael mobile +31 61234567890
The problem is my area code in outlook is 0348 so my MDA won't dial it (it dials +31 123456) and I get a awnseringmachine that sais: sorry, this number is not available.
The mobile number had nothing between the ( ) so that's no problem.
I changed my area code in outlook 2003 and country, but to bad. When I dial with outlook after changing the areacode it will dial the full number, but my MDA won't :?
Anyone an idea :?:
Cheers!
Try to use the area code without the 0. it worked for me.
I.e. +49 (234) 5678

Thanks M8! This works great

I have a friend in Brazil who just bought a Magician and he's having some problems with it. Basically, all his contacts in Outlook have the following format: +55 11 3333-3333 (country code, city code, number). When he tries to call anybody from his contact list the network doesn't complete the call because the phone is dialing the country code and the city code and the network (TIM Brasil) apparently only accepts local calls if you dial only the number, without city code or country code. He told me he tried changing the dialing rules and changing the regional settings but nothing seemed to work.
Anybody have a clue about a solution?
Thanks
M.
Same problem
I'm having the same problem. I live in Brazil and use TIM.
Plus we need to choose long distance carriers for every call.
DId you find any sollutions?
Tks a lot!
With the move to 10 digit dialing becoming more and more common, are there any WM6 applications to auto prepend an area code for voice dialing? So if I were to ommit the area code and dial a 7 digit number, a predefined area code would be inserted prior to the phone dialing, and if I manually dial the area code, that area code is used in lieu of the predefined area code.
Anyone ever heard of anything like this?
You can do outbound number formatting with MagiCall from Mobiion. The ability to use expressions to modify the number dialed makes it pretty powerful.
http://www.mobiion.com/magicall.html
EDIT: Found the filter info on their forums:
Rule name: Prepend area code
Rule type: Outgoing Call
Filter type: Specific number
Phone #: ??????? (each '?' represents 1 digit; so this will match only 7-digit #s)
Action1: Change dialed number v2 (the v1 action didn't seem to work with Tachi dialer)
Call to: xxx{phone} (where xxx is your area code)

What MSID are you using?
The MSID that belongs to our phones, and correct me if I am wrong, aside from the few on here with Heros on like cricket are device specific, therefore we all have different MSIDs.
The MSID of your phone should be on the box the phone came in.
Now one would wonder why you are asking for our MSIDs...
I will not give you my MSID. Psycho.
Mobile Station ID (MSID) is the number that is associated with the home service provider and the wireless phone number. This is reprogrammed when the user changes home service providers. It can also be called the Mobile Identification Number (MIN) and is not to be confused with the Mobile Device Number (MDN) in the CDMA world, which is the device's telephone number.

If you are wondering, OP, why this post is defensive its because you shouldn't be messing with your MSID. If you are changing your MSID you are committing a felony. If we gave you our MSID you could clone your phone to use our MSID and basically mooch off our service.
Besides if you are going to clone your device to use it on cricket or whatever, you really need to know what you are doing. It is pretty complicated and you cannot screw it up or else you are SOL.
