Isn't normal, unless it's a big app that is getting in/uninstalled. Or something is eating RAM/CPU at the same time, try a reboot.. If not factory reset usually does the trick.

Already tried factory reset but still the same - freeze/slowdown untill installation finished (the bigger the app the longer the freeze). Just want to know of users experiencing the same and if there's any known fix. I didn't mind this before but I now i am starting to worry if my unit is defective.

Haven't had it myself, and I cannot recall anyone posting regarding it within the last 7 weeks or so. So potentially you may have a faulty unit yes

Little lag yes, freezing not at all. If it's a small app, there's no lag either.

TouchScreen issue resolved in gingerbread?

So before the gingerbread update i was experiencing the nexus one touch screen issue. This issue would happen mostly when the phone would be charging or warm, and the y coordinate of the touch screen would be off by about an inch. (I would post a link to youtube but i can't yet... new member =/ ) So if you try to answer your phone while the defect was active, you couldnt, because touching the slider would be recognized as trying to touch the 'menu' key on the phone.
Anyway, after gingerbread got pushed to my device, i have yet to experience this issue!! i havent been able to find anyone reporting this resolution. i'm extremely please about this because it was becoming a deal breaker after i missed an important call because i couldnt answer my phone due to the issue!!
anyone else experiencing this resolution!?
In my experiences it does still occur, although seemingly less frequently. It is a hardware problem though so probably won't disappear regardless of the OS

Yup. For some reason I have worse now than before. Maybe I'm just using it more now. Lately it's driving me nuts, to the point of actually looking at a replacement.

this is where I was at before the push, i was seriously considering the incredible s, but for now it seems to have completely disappeared from my device...
I've also heard its a hardware issue (I do believe it to be true, not questioning that), so i found it extremely odd that its not happening now on my device.
Guess I'll just keep my mouth shut and enjoy
Observed no difference. The bug still appears every now and then. Doesn't bother me much because it usually occurs when the phone's charging. Not when I'm on the street using it. I heard that removing any kind of screen protectors can actually solve this problem.

I had it terribly after the GB OTA, I wiped cache & dalvik and it all but went away. One occurrence in a week and a half, and I've been using the crap out of the phone.
Slightly off topic question: On stock Android, is wiping cache the same as wiping the dalvik cache? The stock recovery doesn't have the "wipe dalvik" option, only "wipe cache".
No it's not, but if you have root you can wipe it manually by removing the contents /data/dalvik-cache/

Thanks. But every time you flash an official update, the cache gets wiped and rebuilt though, right? That's why after each update it takes a long time to boot.
I still have the touchscreen issue. i think it will never be solved because it's an hardware issue, not a software one.
So the problem still appears, maybe a little less frequently.
I still have the prob but it's different with 2.3
Before 2.3, the touchscreen problem was unpredictable and could happen at almost anytime, whether charging or not. I replaced the handset but the problem persisted.
Since upgrading to GB, I've noticed a very clear pattern. If I'm charging my device and unplug it before it is fully charged, the touchscreen becomes extremely erratic to the point I must reboot the phone. If it's allowed to charge completely it's okay.
It never happens when it's is not charging.
Still annoying as hell but I've moved to Africa and having the device replaced is a real challenge. So I guess I'm stuck with until I replace it.
Still has issue
Stock, no modification at all. Today when I was rearranging icons in ADW Launcher, it seems that the screen registered click below where my finger actually was, same as the problem I saw previous to updating to 2.3.3. The phone was not hooked to a charger at the time.
Stock GRI40 here on my Nexus One...same issues that i've already had with Froyo. As it was posted before, it's a hardware issue; and the Nexus S is the new kid on Google's block, so i'm not expecting anything to improve our screens.

Theoretically, there is a chance they could fix a software workaround for the hardware problem. If the error happens in only specific circumstances, and ALWAYS happens in those circumstances, then just teach the phone to know when those circumstances are happening, and tell it what to do in those cases. However, I doubt anyone at Google is working too hard on this problem. I agree, it seems to be much less frequent than it ever was. Seems likely that they may have added a little something to help us out.

Or more likely, it could be unintentional.
So even with official OTA it's still here?
Remember me of the ''crazy'' screen problem we had before while charging, perhaps it's a hardware problem after all
This is a main reason why tomorrow i'm getting a new galaxy s.
I tried a lot of custom and stock roms, I sent my phone to HTC and they replaced hardware, but this issue still persist. And it cause me a lot of problems, especially while driving...
I also still get that glitch but not as frequently. I noticed that i didn't need to reboot the phone to fix it. All i need to do is tap the power button to shutoff the screen and then re-tap to turn it back on and it'll show the lock screen. Slide to unlock and the screen is precise once again.
The bug is still there for me also. However, I didn't seem to have it as bad as some did originally, and now I've noticed that it's happening even less frequently.

[Q] Random restarts: how to tell cause?

Hi all,
My MS2 has been randomly restarting and was wondering if it (or Android in general) has a way to see what happened directly before the restart, or more helpfully, what actually caused it to restart?
It hasn't restarted on me while I use it, but seems to restart when it's just sitting around and hasn't been used for a while (ranges from 10 mins or a couple hours) - I know it restarts only by the vibrator going off a little as it boots back up.
The phone is running the stock ROM, and I don't recall installing any new apps recently that may be causing it (such as system apps or anything etc, but NFI really).
Any and all help much appreciated!
Edit: "vBulletin Message Sorry, search is temporarily unavailable. Please try again in 20-30 minutes." in before flames.
So I'm not going to read through pages and pages of posts to find one specific issue which may/may not have been asked etc.
mine restarts 4 out of 5 times i reboot, its really annoying
still dont know the cause, does it with both stock and argen2stone, so it seems like hardware
normally it boots properly when its cold
dont know if this has any relevance... but yeah
weird. im using stock 2.2 AsiaRetail firmware and i have never experienced such a problem - random reboots. perhaps you have some sort of very buggy software that you installed, or perhaps you tampered with something after rooting your phone (if you did)? in any case this is very odd, as it should not just reboot out of the blues. do check each and every downloaded software to see if that is the cause.
I don't have the same problem with UK 2.2.2 running on it.
But random restarts do exist when I was using Argen2Stone 1.8, so I don't think this is hardware problem?

actually, my phone was being pretty stubborn when i tried to root it. had to do a few battery pulls cos it never finished rooting, just kept spinning and spinning. Ive done factory restores with sbf's too, didnt seem to fix it?
I had reboots, but only very few. Not worth mentioning but it occured when I restarted the phone once. It seems to be faulty software.

u should have used one click when z4 didnt work. i tried z4 several times, and when it just didnt root i tried one click instead. btw it really is no hassle unrooting. just click unroot on z4 if that does solve the problem, try re-rooting it, but use one click instead. i believe ur set has the RageAgainstTheCage loophole sealed too

Yeah I suspect it might be a downloaded app (hoping so anyway) but I dont want to have to uninstall everything or try a trial'n'error uninstallation process as that will take forever.
I was hoping someone would know if there are logs that show kernel panics or last processes run prior to the reboot...

I was experiencing some stuck and random reboots when I was using 2.2 with my class 10 sd card, so I decided to try the 2.2.2 sbf, and it kept the same behavior, them i saw the thread about problems with high speed cards, and since i saw it i'm using the original card and experiencing no more stuck or reboots.

try using lookout security (free)...just to see if any apps you have downloaded are contain malwares. i also heard such reboots can be caused by external wifi scanning/searching apps.
Thanks I might try lookout and see what it says...is itself trustworthy tho?
Also I dont use wifi and have it disabled.
Can anyone else offer any further suggestions?

bump...anyone know if MS2 has kernel logs or sth to help me narrow down these random restarts?
I didn't meet with random restart problem at all. using uk 2.2. only once it restarts again and again, and that turned out to be caused by my battery.
sometimes when my tombstone is too hot (above 48℃), it will shut down automaticly to cool down itself. and my battery reports a wrong value of current temperature to system sometimes, then cool down mode will be startup and shut down my phone.

Type dmesg and logcat on terminal.
Also, download live dmesg and live logcat from market, they are bootanimations with live logs apearing on the screen. Pro version suports both at the same time.

S Health & Other Data Wiped After Restart

Hey guys. I'm having a frustrating problem with my Galaxy S5 that I haven't been able to find answers for anywhere. I'm thinking about just wiping it and starting again, but I thought I'd ask around here first.
Every time I restart or reboot my Galaxy S5 (usually after the battery has died), it wipes data from certain apps. S Health appears to be the main one –*I literally have to set it up again every time – but I've also noticed it has previously logged me out of apps like CloudMagic, BaconReader, and Dropbox.
Any ideas as to what might be causing this?
Something is obviously buggy, I'd suggest a hard reset (factory) and see if that fixes it.

[Q] Note 4 Sudden freeze!

Hello everyone,
I just got my note 4 last night and I saw that it freezes all of a sudden when using it heavily. To restart the phone I had to press and hold power button + volume down button or sometimes remove the battery. One of the examples is playing a movie via Samsung's video player. Also while having torrent pro working in the background and using the phone. I thought it is a software issue but I think it isn't as I've reset the phone two times then later got an update from Samsung. Any advices on that? Did anyone face this sort of problem as well? Can it be a hardware issue like the processor over heating? I am using the Exynos version N910U.
I have the same model as you and I didn't face any freeze.
Never happen to me at all since i doubt to use torrent on my phone, so not too sure. But have noticed any overheat or something?

i think u shouldn't use ART yet coz may be some of your apps are not compatible with ART, try to change back to Dalvik and see does it still happen or not. Otherwise factory reset then.

I was talking about the process of switching from dalvick to ART. But I came back to Dalvick cause of some lags.

Oh, my bad I never switch to ART, so can't tell, but may be later on when Android L comes will solve this problem.
i reckon now is not a perfect time to try ART.
So, it lags when u came back from ART to Dalvick? The system lags? Or when u using some specific apps?

App crashing problems

TBH I don't know what the hell happened to my phone one day I picked up my phone and EVERY SINGLE APP I open just lasts for a minuet and crashes for no reason!? even my keyboard my TouchWiz launcher EVERYTHING!! I think the problem from this app: (Android WebView) because someone who have the same phone have this very same problem.
One more thing the screen is doing weird things too?!
Anyone who knows what the hell is happening to my phone please let me know what to do.
PS: It's a stock Note 4 running Android 5.0.1 lollipop not rooted N910C Exynos variant.
Thanks in advance!

One thing that I noticed that when I leave the screen without touching it the app stays just fine like YouTube watching movies and like that but when I start browsing and scrolling the app crash... WTF?!

Thanks for your time man!
Yeah that's really what bothers me a lot!
I cleared the cache but it helped for a few hours and came back again but now I force-stopped that app and then unstalled the updates then disabled it, Now I don't have any problems "for now" but I think that app really missed up my screen because the screen before disabling it was giving weird colors... anyway I really hope that it'll never encounter me again! My phone was literally unusable!
