I've been looking around for a portable charger. Something like the APC below but are there any other which could be better in terms of mAh? Appreciate if those who has links could post it here.

P/s: Any Malaysians reading this forum know where to find stuff like that?

i was wondering does anyones a500 charge via the USB lead from their PC?
i seem to recall my tablet charging from usb the first day i got it, but then i plugged in an AC usb charger from wall socket into the usb port.... and now it no longer charges from my PC.
am i imagining the inital charge via usb - pc? did it ever come with this capeability or does anyone else's work like that and ive most likely fried some usb- pc - to charge component.
if no ones elses does im thinking that the more powerful battery in the a500 compared to say a phone pc-usb charger, the pc cannot draw enough power through a usb port, seeing as they only provide 5 +/- 0.25 volts, unless on an externally powered hub.
A standard USB connection does not provide enough power to charge this device, perhaps you are mistaken in thinking it did the first time. USB 3.0 may have enough output but I have not tried (no 3.0 on any of my machines) and don't know if anyone else has.
Cheers

There's a little sticker on the side of the case that says "INPUT 12V DC 1.5A"
That should tell you all you need to know. No way is USB going to be able to provide that.

The problem is that most people ignore the 12V part and look only at the Amps. And think, can't we just charge slower. Not realizing what a jump 5V to 12V is, thus threads like this will keep popping up.
Tried to connect mine to a 3.0 USB port, did not recharge.

Well duh. USB 3 is still 5 volts, it's just the amps they increased, to 900mA, which still falls short of the 1.5A required.
Not. Going. To. Happen.

Oh thats unfortunate
Many people have broken usb port. So the problem is how to charge your phone!
Well theres an option.. here in India we get magic/butterfly/external charger which can charge any battery without the need of the usb wire or port! It cost 100 INR i.e. appx 2$!!
Pics r below
Hope it helps you in solving the problem!!
Cheers V!
Nice & cheap one!
But I would still prefer my own protection circuit connected on laboratory power supply

Yes
Try a different cable maybe.
Check in your battery settings, there should be a Enable Fast Charging Toggle there... you can check if its off... otherwise, I'll get on to searching for another fix
