Many people have broken usb port. So the problem is how to charge your phone!
Well theres an option.. here in India we get magic/butterfly/external charger which can charge any battery without the need of the usb wire or port! It cost 100 INR i.e. appx 2$!!
Pics r below
Hope it helps you in solving the problem!!
Cheers V!
Nice & cheap one!

Hi everyone
Please what are the specifications of the original charger of motorola defy (output amperage & voltage)?
Thank you
5.1 V and 850 mA
Any micro-usb charger will work.

the Samsung ones are cheap and small! i bought a hama speed charger with 5 V and 1000mA, works good, but higher temperature at load, it don't ruins my battery more than before.

So I am coming from a Galaxy Nexus and was trying to use the little 1amp Samsung chargers from that. Noticed the bundled charger provides a bit more output at 1.8 amps?
Anyways, switched to the bundled charger but the phone complains at me unless I use the bundled cable. Any ideas?

I don't think that's true, I had my charger and cable from my Note 2 which is a 2 amp charger, and that didn't allow my G2 to charge at full speed either.

This is frustrating to me. I also had one of those monster monoprice cables. I used it for my Galaxy Nexus and then for my Galaxy S3.
Does anyone have a long USB cable that will charge this phone? If so, where did you get it? What kind is it?

I'm having the same issues. All of my microUSB cables give me the error. Anybody know of rated cables that will work? Seems crazy that I get the error with every single one of my cables, but not with LG's bundled cable. I've used these cables to charge a DNA, GS4, HTC One, Nexus 7, etc. with no issues at all.
Might be a long shot but could vzw/att have a setting in the build somewhere that causes this? I know it's a long shot but we all know how greedy they are.

Isn't this phone equipped with some type of different usb that allows for faster charging? I think I read that somewhere. The other cables may not have the proper viber/wires to handle the current...

When I used the LG charger & cable my phone charges the fastest I've ever seen any phone charge before.
Anybody know where to buy certified Quick Charge 2.0 chargers/cables? I know my DNA had Quick Charge 1.0 and I loved it, but I could never find more chargers or cables that supported it.
Same here. 50% to 100% in an hour and a half.
Keep in mind that there is a benefit to battery longevity when charging at lower currents.

So heres what they said.
Thank you for contacting Monoprice.com. In regards to your inquiry, the USB specification limits the length of a cable between USB 2.0 devices to 5 meters (or about 16 feet) and for USB 1.0 the limit is 3 meters (which is about 10 feet.) The longer the cable the more power it would require to charge devices and sync. You might need a active USB cable since the LG phone would require more power. At this particular length the power would charge slower. What is the the length of the OEM cable from LG that you're using? With the 1.8A charger with the 15ft cable still slower compared to the shorter USB cables?

I use two method to charge my phone
1 - Wireless Charging (Qi Charger not the original N4 charger)
2- via USB
On 1st when its fully charged the then the crazy battery drain starts. What is the point Wireless charging if I have to keep guard and disconnect while its fully charged ?
On2nd method I go to sleep shutting down PC while phone still connected. Same fate !
Im really helpless there. Anyone know what the heck is happening there ? It will be a huge help !
I found this app called safe charge as a work around
But seriously ? app for charging :/
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sash.sodeliminator&hl=en
plug it into a wall charger. you dont get as much/fast as a charge via usb nor wireless. an app running could be using as much or more voltage than is coming in. ive seen live wallpapers use more charge than being brought in via usb.

Yh so basically when im
Using my phone whilst charging it charges downwards.
It doesn't charge downwards. It's simply because you are doing something so intensive that the power from USB outlets cannot cannot draw enough power and so it compensates by using battery power as well.
seriously?
USB charging is only about a 1/5th of the power from charging from a power point.
Riiiight. But im only watching vids? I understand if i play a game and it happens buh videos too?!

Are you charging via the included Samsung charger or computer?
Computer USB only gives out about 0.5 -0.7A @ 5V which is not really enough to charge the phone while in use for anything.
For me, battery will drop even with the screen on.
However, USB charger gives 2A @ 5V which is enough to do some intensive things while not loosing charge.
I have samsung charger with cable (both white) and its the usb charger one not the fixed charger one
Try using this app to find out what current you're getting from your charger. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2076078
Stock charger and cable with stock kernel should show 1200 mah with the screen on. If you aren't getting that, try different cables in case you have damaged your stock one. Beware though... I have found some cheap generic cables perform very very badly. You could have different results with a non Samsung charger, sometimes they will work in a similar way, sometimes the kernel detects it as a PC connection and limits the charging current. It depends on the internals of the charger and if there is any resistance across the data pins.

Not true.
USB charging is ~500mA
AC charging is ~850mA, and with a fast charge kernel you'll get up to 1200mA.

This haooens when you USB CABLE is faulty.
Get a new USB cable (i would prefer a different brand than samsung because their wuality is cheap).
Your phone might be charging slow to.
Download the galaxy current charge app and check for the voltage thing. Youll get the answer for yourself.
Thank me if i helped.
