Bugs in 10.4.B.0.569 update - Xperia Z General

Even though we have finally received the 4.3 update from SONY,
it seems like shipped with some noticeable bugs.
It's better if we can mention the bugs we have encountered after the 4.3 update
1. ) SONY Select
As many people have reported this service is not working in either mobile broadband or wifi connections.
Only a error text is shown as "No network connection. Please try again later"
2.) NFC icon
It suddenly get disapeared while it's already activated by quick settings.
3.) Airplane mode
When the Airplane mode is turned on by power button menu, it cannot be turned off using the same menu since it's disabled.
I had to go to the settings menu and turn it off from there.
4.) Network mode switching
3G networking and LTE network mode switching does not happening correctly in automatically (sometimes).
work arround found :
Had to go to the network settings and disable the mobile data
turn on the airplane mode on and again turn it off
enable the mobile data again then it will correctly jump to LTE network type
5.) Battery bug
Battery suddenly dropped from about 40 % to 8% (without any downloaded applications.)
6.) Overheating
Phone is incredibly overheating while using the HSPA+ or LTE data connection.
with 4.2.2 i didn't had this much of overheating issue.
Please share your findings also :highfive:

1 - No, it is working fine since 2 days ago.
2 - No, this is a customization thing, if you flashed a firmware from a different region it may have been disabled. It is normal, you can re-enable it editing build.prop.
3 - No, it works fine on mine.
4 - No, i don't have this problem.
5 - It happened to me in the first two hours of installing the new firmware, but from 13% to 0% reducing itself in 1% increments every 2 seconds (and it turned itself off), it may be some kind of battery recalibration after installation, it hasn't happened again since then.
6 - I don't feel like it is overheating more than before.
I thing you should do a factory reset. I did it after 4.3 update and the only bugs i have found are:
1 - Progress bar overlaping text while installing applications
2 - Standalone wifi hotspot toggle widget not working (the one in the configurable toggles in notification area works fine)
3 - Bluetooth A2DP music streaming skips a lot in my BMW Car Infotainment system while not charging the phone. It could be some kind of energy saving feature on the bluetooth that it is screwing things up. It worked 10 times better when i was in Android 4.2.2
cheers.

Good to know but anyway that is not an important bug, I can live with it. But if I ever need xposed for anything else I will remember this info.

Wifi doesnt work when i have my smartwatch2 connected. It finds almost no networks (not even my own in the room) . When i turn off the sw2 , it finds all the networks in the area! Unbelievable...

I can confirm this one on existenz v5, not yet tested on stock Rom.

Does video stabilization option works for any one.
For me it doesn't look making any difference

Camera Bug
Tho only bug I noticed is in Camera Addon AR Effects. The Pictures a very dark and there´s no chance to activate LED Flash....

my phone's screen timeout resets back to 15 seconds every once in a while, and wakelock bugs also present

Sometimes SMS received without Notification

I have issues with access to OpenXChange Servers. No new mail can be received.

Just a wakelock bug for me, Suspend_backoff (Android OS) eating battery, it drains like ~5% hourly.

So you reinstalled 4.3 and it didnt fix the problem? Some users said they reinstalled 4.3 (which means complete data loss and having to set my phone from the beginning ) and the problem remains. I dont want to go through a clean istall for nothing.
I also emailed sony for the problem , maybe they will answer me

1 - battery drain in standby shouldn't be significant but you can reduce it by turning off radios you don't need and/or reducing the update interval of any apps you have checking in the background.
2 - I'm not sure what's happening here, usually the wifi logo overwrites the 3g one so it is obvious which one is in use (at least it does on my UK SGT, might be different for CDMA). Either way switching on and off the various radios is easily done from the notification area, just swipe down from the top of the screen to show toggles for wifi, bt, gps, silent mode & orientation lock.
Edit: oops, I miss remembered, I don't know of an easy way to switch the mobile radio.
3 - I had a bit of a play with allshare day one but haven't had time to give it a proper workout yet.
4 - I haven't had mine run down that far but it sounds like a sensible power saving measure, better to see it dim for a while than bright for two minutes!
5 - the screen auto adjust in the display settings seems to help a lot. Other than that I've found the battery life to be very good for the most part. I tend to only switch on wifi if I have a big download to do so that might help in my case.
Welcome by the way, hope you enjoy the tab!

THANKS Bill! Appreciate the info/advice!
I guess I am getting confused between the 3g/ the strength bars. So if it doesnt say 3g but just shows signal strength then its probably using wifi?
Does anyone know if the SGT defaults to wifi first then to 3g? Just curious.

When wifi is on it turns 3g off. I use an app called tasker to save my battery. I have it set to turn wifi/3g off when the screen turns off, and if I place it face down it sets the device into airplane mode, left in this state the battery drains very slow when not in use. Tasker is not the cheapest app but you are only limited by your imagination what you can do with it.

Anyone else know how to use allshare? According to samsung you cannot stream from your pc to the tablet is this correct?
i am actually trying to do both stream from the pc to the tab and then seperately stream from the tab to the tv or blu ray player and or pc and nothing works any which way? not sure how to get this to work?
thanks
AllShare is an app that you can use to connect to other Samsung AllShare enabled divices like TV's. I removed the app. It is completely useless. (It would be so nice if there was an app by which I could connect to my homenetwork.)

Not quite correct! It allows you to stream from/to other DLNA devices which includes some Samsung TV's, but plenty of other devices too.
For example, I use to it to stream from/to my PCs with Media Center.

Sorry to jump in but can you tell me where you found this, I have gone into settings wifi but cannat see it anywhere
If you have disabled GPS and Bluetooth read the following, if not do so and come back^^
1. Go into battery stats and look out for anomalies
2. let your phone run out of power and shut down by itself, if the drain does not change significantly after that.
3. think about your installed apps. chat apps like skype and facebook are evil battery eating bastards.
4. check out whether your modem fits your region
5. Reflash the kernel

how to know to best modem that feet my region please ? i have have tried many of them i all work fine but how to know the best one ?
I had sort of the same problem as well. I downloaded Android System Info and went in to tasks and killed com.seven.Z7.service, and that made it stop use my data transfer 100% of the time. Worth a shot? I think it's the SGS email client, that has been reported before as well. Weird cause I've got push email, but still...
Its definatly a wifi issue, i thought a full wipe AND and fresh rom flash would clear it - but no luck

Easy Fix... (For the SGS anyway)
Go to... Menu>Wireless and network>Wi-Fi settings.
Uncheck "Network Notification"
Then tap the menu button (to the left of the home button) and tap "advanced"
Select "Wi Fi sleep policy" and set it to "When screen turns off"
Your battery life will improve drastically. Just drain the battery fully, and give it a full charge.
Let me know if this helps you.
Rom Kitchin build your own rom choose modem and csc .

XWJS8_Wipe.zip, version: v9_9_5 ROM, coupled with a hardcore kernel and a jpx modem.
Wi Fi sleep policy" and set it to "When screen turns off"
= 4% battery drain overnight .

You get no scanning for open networks so maybe you stop to scan networks while associated.
I think this is a problem with the modem.bin try to flash other one maybe JPY, JPU or JPM
Can you please check in wi-settings and see if it keeps scanning every 5 seconds when already connected to wifi.
... It may be normal behaviour, but.i doubt it.

Android Lollipop 5.0.2 Bugs / Troubles / Grievances / Features

So Official Rollout Start Hope Eeveryone is now on Lollipop 5.0.2 :highfive:
It's a Request Guys Please Post Bugs Here.
Some Common Bugs List/New Features/More:
1.Swipe down from status bar
Click on users icon... And click more settings... Enjoy the lag...
2. Open app drawer (newer google now launcher)
Click on home button
Enjoy microstutters...
3. Go to settings
Click on any title..
The animation that seems to come from lower part of screen towards center also lags for the first time...
4. One of the major hits was that switching data on now requires at least 4 touches...yes i know aosp has it like this but...Moto being an oem could have made it simpler... For someone like me who toggles data several times a day, this is hectic.
One thing again moto failed to do was to remove the drop down quick setting when a secured lock screen is used. How the hell it is secure when any one can swtich off the data and swtich on air plane mode or even use my phone as a wifi hotspot..
5. wifi battery drain is present wid build 5.0.2. Battery is draining even when all the wifi toggles are off (including scanning while sleep) .. Have seen this on my nexus 5 too.... U can thank google for this and motorola for not patching it..
6. net is switched on and working but it is not accompanied by E/H icon near the signal icon ... This bug is random and just showed up on my device.
7. When I put adaptive brightness at its lowest then screen start flickering.
8. Lag in dialer specially while seeing recent call logs/call history.
9. Animation & UI Lag
Credit: @doctor_droid
Is dialler lag still here on final lollipop for xt1033 users? http://youtu.be/cZfSrRihrUk
You copied and pasted this from @doctor_droid's post, with no credit to him.
Battery Drain fast and UI is laggy.
Apart from the ones listed, the widget bug is a problem of the google app update and not the whole system update.
The guest mode lags a lot.
Under data usage stats, 2010 and other system apps come up without names.
Smooth but a little slow.
I'm facing these bugs on my XT1033 :
1. When I put adaptive brightness at its lowest then screen start flickering.
2. Lag in dialer specially while seeing recent call logs/call history.
3. Some common bugs which every lollipop user is facing like even after clearing recent apps some random apps start appearing there e. g. android system
but I'm not facing any bug as mentioned above expect power toggles on secure lock screen and that 6th bug.
Now if I talk about Improvements then
1st : Improved battery life, about 1 hour of extra screen on time earlier on kitkat 4.4.4 I was getting 3 Hours and 30 minutes of screen on time with full 24 h (screen on time+stand by time) of usage.
2nd : improved ram management about 400+ mb of ram are always free earlier on kitkat 4.4.4 it was 200-300 mb.
3rd: UI is now more fluid and smooth it's faster than ever and even more improved multitasking.
I updated my phone manually.
Thanks
and one more thing my English is not that good so you may find some bugs there too
After update there is a notification which says update google play services but when i try to update it on playstore it says no update.what to do?

All these bugs you mentioned are not present in my phone and 3 other Moto G that was updated to Lollipop recently.
Wi-Fi usage is not even showing up on the battery list and its always on. There is no such Wi-Fi battery drain here on 4 Moto G devices.
E and H icons are always visible in the status bar. It seems a very limited random bug on few devices.

Oh, this. I thought nobody else noticed the animation stuttering (also happening in the GPE).
Lollipop animations are cool, but not when they lag/stutter.
I hope there's a solution for this.

animations are lagging sometimes in 4.4.4 too. I think it's just the device cpu is a bit slow.
battery
charging takes more time than normal.
animations are snappy in cm12 but not in stock lollipop.
screen on times have increased but...standby has decreased....
guys, if you are having problems using wireless hotspot on moto G,
1.Use it without a password
2. Get it to connect with PC
3. after it connects, try it out (should work)
4. Disconnect
5. create password for the hotspot - IMPORTANT - The password must be at least 10 characters and must be a combination of letters and numbers
6. try it out.
When I created the hotspot using passwords that did not have letters and numbers, it wouldn't connect.
try it out and give out responses because I heard some people could not use wireless hotspot.
one of the requirements for WPA S2 password is the letter and number combo.
------------------
I flashed the flashable stock 5.0.2 rom and have been getting awesome battery life and performance. Maybe its because the bloat's gone.
You guys should try it out
I found bug..
when I try to activated battery saving, the color of status bar and navigation bar, become orange .. although I set it when it reach 15% left , while my battery still 80% left

This should be considered a must have along with the Lollipop memory leak fix xposed module for anyone rooted even if they don't use any other xposed modules*.
This should noticeably improve battery life.
* Rootcloak is also useful to idol users because it allows system update checker to CHECK for updates without the "root detected" error. You should still not actually INSTALL updates until fully unrooted.
Thanks for the info Famewolf !
I've been closely following the thread but it seems this only fix the wrong reporting of mobile radio in the battery stats and only improve a little the battery life.
Still better than nothing tough.
I'm astonished this huge bug is only looked into by xda volunteers and not by Google...

It's more than just "reporting". It's the equivalent of opening the door to your garage or outside in the middle of summer and then wondering where all your cool air conditioning is going. Check your power bill the next month when in this analogy you would have left the door open for hours and hours at a time.
It fixes a bug that dropped the instruction telling it to close the radio so the radio connection remained open using up battery needlessly. I do however agree that it is sad Google and others didn't fix this a long while back as it's been widely reported.

Then you have somehow magically fixed a known bug in all versions of Lollipop.
I have a 6039S with no sim card installed, and it still shows "Cell standby" using a few percentage of power. Is this a bug, and is it the same as the Mobile Radio Active bug?

You might ask in the actual radio fix thread linked in the message I linked to as they can better provide you details but it's a given that if you have not patched the bug then you still HAVE the bug.
So, does it actually work?
I think Radio active bug is not present in this phone, i have been all day on LTE and Radio active time shows 2 hours. which is more or less the screen on time, and the phone was 12 more hours in my pocket or on my desk.

Multiple people on the forum have reported they had to put their phone into wcdma mode to stop excessive battery drainage. You are free to believe as you wish. See previous posts and the thread related to the bug as it's not my job to convince you.
have used Xposed with this module and with the memory fix module for 5.0.x firmware for two weeks, but didnt notice any noticable battery improvements or less lagging,so i deleted all modules and xposed.
I don't have this bug too. Maybe it's on some carrier or some lte frequencies... report thing is easy but send logs or open a real thread about that is difficult for you Famewolf and you don't even know or you can't prove if the module do something on this phone execpt a placebo in the battery stats... So please stop send stroll people because their device work or have not the same bug or problem of yours .... (by the way i think the governor of the cpu is catastrophic and it can be better with a little bit of tweaking) Bye

Try reading xda-developer thread I linked to in the 1st post that talks about the bug. I agree..the cpu governor is crappy but until we get a custom kernel we are stuck with it.

hey guys now I can't permanently keep the data to " wcdma only" by going in phone testing (*#*#4636#*#*) remember that?
perhaps it is because of the "mobile active radio fix"
Xposed module because it was working fine earlier but even though now I have tried disabling module and uninstalling module but I can't change it to wcdma only, it keeps fixed on gsm only.
even though in setting I have it set to 3g preferred but because of poor reception many time it goes to 2g and back to 3g it is very irritating.
btw I am able to use 3g, can anyhody tell me how to fix that with fixing of mobile radio active bug
or is it a problem with the cm12.1 itself, btw I'll post in both forums

I use wcdma only mode all the time as i'm in a fringe area that barely has 3g in both stock and now in cm12.1....the radiofix module wouldn't have anything to do with it. You can go into the dialer and do a *#*#4636#*#* then go into phone info which will let you select wcdma only or you can install the "network" app from either google play or f-droid which when ran acts as a shortcut to take you straight to the phone info screen so you can set wcdma only.

Lemfo Y3 issues

Notifications sometimes don't work, especially for calls. It stays connected fine with Nougat, though I can't figure out how to track sleep. The specs state that it can.
Until today. I added the watch as one of my "trusted devices" so the phone stays unlocked when they're in range of each other, and it disconnected. Now when I try to reconnect in WiiWear, it crashes and disconnects again. I've forgotten the watch, removed it from "trusted devices," wiped cache, reinstalled WiiWear, etc, and it still crashes. HELP!

Seems that way. Hopefully an update comes soon that helps.
I've had it. Constantly disconnecting, having to reset the watch to get it to connect again, and crashing assistant "SinWear" app. Pissing me off. I'm returning this.

Sorry to hear about your issues. I'm considering buying one myself. Do you think this is mostly a problem with the watch (i.e. hardware) or something with the connection between the phone app and the watch software?
Also, if you don't mind taking a minute to tell me, what did you think of the build quality and general usability of the Y3?

I have the Y3, and the connection problem is very real. Until yesterday, I could not maintain any reliable connection between the watch and my phone. The Bluetooth would continually connect and disconnect, and the m2d manager and receiver were very quickly being killed after the the screen turned off. Then I stumbled on the cause. I was checking the app notification log using Google gesture and noticed an app called Battery Master posting silent notifications. This app does not show in the app list and is not accessible in any other settings screen. However, when I tapped on one of the notifications in the notification log, it took me to the info screen for Battery Master and gave me the option to disable the app, which I did. Bluetooth, m2d, and notifications have worked perfectly ever since. So far I have not noticed any significant difference in battery drain but it will probably take a few days to know for sure.
Build quality of the watch is excellent. I love the watch now that the connection issue is fixed. The display is awesome since there is no black band around the outside and no flat tire. I've installed the ClockSkin launcher which provides a better looking interface and allows installation of all the excellent LEM5 watch faces available from the G+ user group. Battery life for me (after disabling Battery Master) seems to be about 10 hours.

That's good to hear. You should definitely make a quick Youtube video about the fix, or even just a thread here on XDA. I bet a lot of people never discovered what was the cause of their connection issues and just returned the watch. One question though, does that fix persist through a reboot, or do you have to disable the Battery Master app each time you start the watch?
Please update us if your connection issues continue to be resolved with that fix (or not).

It's actually really good. It's a solid watch, and it has a lot of good uses. I wish it did work with apps like Google Fit and Sleep as Android though, but it's not really necessary as those work fine with just the phone as is. It is supposedly IP67-rated water proof, but I don't recommend testing that by completely submerging it, or showering with it on. It likely is OK with washing hands, though. Or sweat. Never had a problem even with my original Moto 360 in that regard.
One thing these will never do is make or receive calls over Bluetooth. None of them will.
They are a stand alone watch phone. Never made to call through Bluetooth.
Cheers

The fix is still working, and yes, it does survive a reboot.

How exactly did you access those settings? What if you walked too far from the phone, does it reconnect?

Download the app Google Gesture Search from the play store onto your watch. This will allow you to easily search for settings options that are not accessible through the watch's launcher. Search for Notification Log. In the log, tap on any line that says Battery Master. This will take you to the app info page for Battery Master. You can't uninstall the app but you can disable it. This will allow Bluetooth to stay connected and will allow the m2d manager and receiver to stay running.
Using m2d, the phone will reconnect with the watch automatically if you come back into Bluetooth range.
Be aware that once you disable Battery Master, there is no way to re-enable it because it won't show up in the logs. I'm guessing that a firmware update or a factory reset would re-enable it.

The IP67 rating is a misprint, on the official LEMFO store at AliExpress, the listing for the Y3 states that it is IP65 rated. I took a screenshot because I know a lot of people were confused about that.

That's really too bad. I really would like a watch like my Gear S (which also allows you to use a SIM card) that can simply pass the call through the watch. For driving it is great to keep your hands on the wheel. I wonder why the feature isn't on more watches. It seems like a no-brainer.
Yeah, these are literally a phone watch. A miniature android phone on your wrist....

Not available in my country. I got it from APKMirror though.
I still have issues connecting after doing this. It worked fine and stayed connected the first time but once I rebooted both devices, wiiwear now force closes. I'm on Nexus 6p dirty unicorns 7.1 and the firmware on the watch is from Dec 16 any ideas

Neither Wiiwear or Sinwear will run on my Nexus 5x. I think it's an incompatibility with Android 7+. You can sync notifications to the Y3 using m2d once you fix the Bluetooth problem by disabling Battery Master.
