Mate, you're not alone, and you've come to the right place.
Now take a deep breath, and let's deal with one thing at a time.
Your profile shows you have the original O2 XDA, or 'Wallaby" device. This device doesn't support MMS without additional software, so you'll need to say what MMS software (if any), you're using.
Regarding WAP / GPRS settings, you'll need to say what service provider you're with, and then we can help with that. When I had my XDA I was happily browsing the Net via GRPS, so don't despair, it can be done. As a first step, tap the service / antenna icon on the start bar (next to the speaker icon): Look for a little 'G' in the window that pops up. If you have one, you're halfway there because that means your SIM card is provisioned for GPRS by your telco.
One you confirm that, and say what provider you're with, we can configure your settings.
As a guide, if you have all your access point info, the most common problem on the Wallaby is the dialing-pattern settings under locations in the connections applet. By default the XDA adds your country and area code info before the access point name, and that stops it from connecting.
Regarding not seeing the names of people calling you, check that your country setting is correct, which you'll find under 'tools' - 'options' in your Contacts application. If it is, also remove the area code info, as it probably isn't needed.
I've experienced a problem with names not being displayed on received SMSes, which was resolved with the 'Paragon SMS Name Patch', so that may help you too. Just search the forums for it and you'll find a download link. To install it you'll need ActiveSync to be configured & working.
Give me some more info & I'll see what I can do for you.

Hello...just wondering about an option in the Hermes if some one could tell me about the caller ID settings.
Does it have all 3 options suchs as the following:
Send caller ID to every one
Send only to Contact ( this is this the option I have seen in Smart phones but not in windows pocket pc smart phones)
Send to no one
If some one would be so kind enough to answer this it would be greatly apperciated
Hi Geek,
I don't think there are any settings in the phone to do this but it can be done manually.
There are 2 network enabled settings you can have setup by requesting them from your phone - CLIP and CLIR; CLIP is Calling Line Identity Presentation (show ID - also called CLI) and CLIR is Calling Line Identity Restriction (hide ID). These are done by sending *#30# and *#31# to the network respectfully. It's worth knowing not all network support CLIR.
So if you send *#30# to the network you will enable CLIP and everyone will see your ID. If you send *#31# to the network your ID will be hidden from everyone. your network should say 'accepted', 'enabled' or something similar if it accepts the request.
That covers 2 of your points. Now for the 3rd. If you have CLIP enabled (*#30# - everyone sees your ID) and you wish to hide your number from some people then you dial the number like #31#<number> SEND.
If you do it the other way and leave CLIR enabled (*#31# - no one sees your ID) then dial the number *31#<number> SEND.
Hope this helps.

In Windows Mobile, would anyone know how to configure "+" in phone contacts to translate to specific international direct dial access code?

That is done automatically, you don't need to configure anything.
If you have special needs (some dialling prefix etc), you can try Start->Settings->Connections->Connections->Extended->Dialling Rules (translated from a German TyTN, so the names on your device will probably be a bit different. "Extended" is simply the right tab; I have a feeling that on an English device its name may be completely different )
Cheers
Daniel
Thanks.
Yes I do need to dial the prefix provided by a long distance service which is cheaper than default IDD service of my mobile company.
I have tried but somehow it didn't work. I will do further research I think I may not have configured the dialling rules correctly.

Hello,
Is it possible to get all the cellid of a place for the all the network available.
Example when I try to do a network search from my mobile, it shows me all the Service provider available.
Question: Will it be possible to get all the cellid of provides at any point ?
I am looking at changing profile etc based on cell id (not of my provider but other when my cellid is not available ).
Also Note: Phone is not in roaming so I cannot register to any other provider.
Any ideas !!
Thanks
Have a look at http://www.opencellid.org/
Thanks for your reply.
Are you suggesting that I make a note of current cellid and try to get other cell id.
Is there a way we can get the same from programs RIL or something on windows mobile ?
New Voice Authentication Process
Effective today, new security enhancements are in place to prevent unauthorized access to Sprint's network. Due to these new enhancements, you may encounter a device that is not recognized on the network after you have performed a ##RTN (786).
If you receive the message "Due to Error #16, your call has failed to complete" while placing a test call, you'll be required to contact a dedicated Care Team to have the device authenticated on the network.
For complete details, see the Voice Authentication Error M&P located at ISC > Service and Repair > Resources > ASC Methods and Procedures > Voice Authentication Error (5/2/11). ISCPortal Link: Voice Authentication Error (5/2/11)
What would this affect?
Its not like we could import other CDMA phones to begin with.
The only phone/ devices I'd even expect them to allow would be the Nokia N810w & the New $1,500 Qualcomm Phone... Maybe.

It looks like it would not do hands free activation anymore. It has to be called in so the device can retrieve the network settings so it can establish a data connection with the towers.
