I think so. Sony has generally been on or near the bleeding edge of technology, whether it be beta tapes, OLED screens or blu-rays. I expect a lot of good things from this buy out. Don't fail me now Sony!

Interesting to say the least. Looking forward to checking out their first unique release after the buyout. I'd expect a lot more interaction and compatibility with other Sony products for starters.

sony will have better business ethics and try to actually be a leader

Sony couldn't afford to buy Ericsson, the rumours are that Sony would purchase Sony Ericsson aka the Ericsson mobile division.
I've always like Ericsson phones, so this would be a slight disappointment to me, but if Sony can put proper audio processors in their walkman range and better image processing in the cybershot phones and they use nicer materials for their phones then I would continue supporting them.

@topic: I really like Sony. I have one Xbox, but some further integration with all of their devices (Vaio series, Bravia TV's, cybershot cameras, PS3/PSP/PSVita) would be nice. (would love to see thing related to Arc and PSVita, it would be AMAZING *-*)

Goodbye X10 (sorta)

After spending 2 years with my beloved X10 and countless number of flashes, I've decided to move on. The X10 will always have a special place in my heart as my first Android experience. An experience so profound that I converted my entire family from iOS to Android. All of us rocking X10's of course. I also had a hand in converting several other friends as well, all with X10's. Although I am leaving the X10 community since its no longer my main device, I will be back since my daughters and friends are still looking to me for support. Best of luck to you all and happy modding!

I leave some weeks ago, i have now and xperia arc s, i will never left xperia brand, cause my x10a never disapointed me

Xperia rocks! that's all folks.

it will take a long time for me to move on. i love this phone

i too am sadly leaving this great device, my new desire HD is in the post.

many users and devs abandon poor X10,but im glad to be X10 user and thanks for all the devs!!

X10 ... the silver color runs, slow... I'd like to get arc S, but maybe 2012 Xperia will be better.

I miss my x10...after having a broken screen the phone died on me and cant get it back to life however now having the arc and arc s its a big big improvement. Im now hoping to get a 2012 xperia phone

I think it will be new phone but not Xperia PLAY 2.
Rather Xperia Neo L (rumors about escaping from China), Xperia GX (international release - cool phone btw) or Xperia ION (another nice phone).
But if they announce XP2... this would be the most exciting day we've ever had, I think :-D

Not a chance that it will be the PLAY2, simply wont happen.
My guess is a phone that no one cares about, like the Xperia ion.

Might actually be XP2. The message says "something fun". A gaming phone is something fun.
Or then again it might be some engineering wonder phone with awesome specs but not controls, ergo a useless gaming device but decent phone and great gadget.

Maybe some PSP games like Daxter or Syphon Filter for Playstation Certified devices finally?! Sony, where are you?

I think it could possibly be some bigger title games or something software related but I highly doubt it'll be an xplay2 this phone was a bomb sales wise and only a certain crowd was attracted to it and it makes no sense for them to make another more powerful version so soon. Xperia play 2 = pipe dream! The odds are better to win the lottery or get struck by lightning

- The Xperia Play is aprox. 1 year old.
- The "Playstation Certified" ecosystem is too much young, 1 year aprox. too.
- All the "Playstation Certified" devices haven't recieved the Playstation Suite (Playstation Mobile now).
Because all of this, I don't exepct a possible Xperia Play 2 at least after one year or more.
With this and the rumours again about ICS you all are beginning to hype too much and then when you see nothing coming will rage and flood all the forum telling how horrible is Sony. u__u

its definetly gaming related "something fun" and it still being E3 gives it away
lets just hope its something worthwhile

The E3 has been from 5th to 7th of June, we are now on 9th...
And if Sony wanted to show anything on the E3 it would had done it on its conference, and no Xperia Play 2 was shown.

I agree. "Something fun" is completely dependent on what Sony thinks it's consumers will regard as being "fun." That could be music, movies, games, exercise, or any other aspect of "entertainment" that Sony already has its hands in. Honestly, don't expect too much from this news. Remember the last big announcement? There was all the hype about the PS Store adding new games or making the US able to buy games or whatever, and it ended up being nothing special.
I'd say move along, there's nothing to see here. At least wait for the actual event to talk about it, rather than build up your fanboy hopes. Like Miles Wolf said, don't hype yourselves up just to end up flooding the forums with your disdain that it wasn't what you expected/wanted.

You have a budget for a phone for 30.000 dollars?
Well anyway, since you want music like xperia and camera like xperia I think we have a winner.
If you don't want to go with the xperia you can always flash xperia albums + walkman on your s4 or nexus I think.

I would say go for Nexus 4 for but obvious reasons because I own it.. Xperia Z is also a good option but DON'T GO for samsung crap S4.

I would seriously wait for the Moto X. It's perfect as per my requirement but sadly india is one of the last countries to get nexus products. Nexus 4 came after one year of release and i think so will Moto X.
Xperia Z has pathetic display other wise its good too yeah.

Is there any possibility of Motorola launching the phone elsewhere apart from the Americas? All blogs I read today specifically state that the phone will not be sold anywhere else.

There was something about there being a cheaper version for international prepaid markets, though I doubt that that particular version will retain the customization options. Not to mention it will most definitely have weaker specs, which aren't really top of the line now too.

Weaker specs?? Are you serious?? How much weaker? like single core?? 1GB RAM?? less than 720p display???
What is the source of your info? These are standards dude. And Google Nexus devices have never been any less. Though i agree with you on customizations. There may be two or three basic color white or blacks anything.
And yeah i too have not heard of anywhere except America. But i guess Google is one brand that has evolved out of experimentation. It won't be same as it was with Nexus 4. Let's keep expectations down anyways *sighs*

Why would you get a moto x? It's a lot weaker than the Nexus 4 and comes with a older version of android and the bootloader is locked. If it's locked down anything like Verizon then good luck with custom rom and kernel development.

Hi guys, first, I want to say sorry if that was confirmed as a fake or something, but I was searching for new case for my Xperia Z1, and just came on Muvit page and found something strange...First I was thinking it's a typo or something, but in description there is also information, that this glass screen protector or case was made for Xperia Z2. I don't want to be faker or something, but I wasn't for months on XDA (will back in June 2014, and I know you don't recognize me, wasn't in Z1 scene) and wanted to ask you if this is something like leak. Check links below and tell me - is there any new Xperia that looks like this? (They're all preety same from longer distance, but it can't be Z1, as it doesn't have magnetic dock on the left side, like picture shows in protector link). Have a nice day, and once again - if it's fake - please delete it asap!

No, no, no! Look closely the pictures in the links, the flaps are like in Z1. Z1 Compact they have in different position and 2 only. And if they call it Z2 still fake Z2 anyway.

And they have separate category for Z1 Compact on their site so it can't be this. Maybe they really don't know what they selling, but need to say - they have good stuff sometimes . Hmmmm...Maybe it's Sony Xperia Z Muvit? Hahaha .
