Just as the title says -- ive read and searched and found numerous threads and topics related to an asortment of rooting this phone but could not find one that stated it was the newest method for both rooting and installing a recovery.
I am on the Verizon variant -- 4.4.2 -- build jdq39b -- software version vs98011a --
could someone please post a link to the correct method for both ?

So this might be the latest method for root then ? this links me to ioroot10 , but im seeing ioroot11 and even a 12 and then other ones talking about 10o also , so hince why im askin for the latest method.
I used 10 to root my phone no problem. I was on the same software version as you, though I think you meant Android 4.2.2 instead of 4.4.2.

ok so assuming everything goes ok with the root -- what is the correct way to install either one of the custom recoveries to flash roms than ?
Bumping ...
Download the recovery, use Flashify on the Play Store.

Rooting was a success no issues at all thank you for the link -- have not installed a custom recovery yet and took the new OTA the B one and I did not loose root in the process, so my next goal is to get a custom recovery installed -- thanks again

From what I have read, you will have issues installing custom recovery on B for now at least. At least you have root.

Yes, you can root and No you cannot do any OTA or LG upgrades to it. Because rooting G2 should also be accompanied by installation of custom recovery which doesn't let you do any OTAs or official upgrades.
Hey everyone I currently have a LS-980 on stock KK rooted with ioroot25 and twrp'ed using autorec.
What roms out there (if any) are compatible with ZVC? Stock KK is ok but after trying out the Pacman
Rom when I was on JB I just love the kind of vanilla android feel more and I want that back lol. But
don't really want to go through the whole process of downgrading right now. So if you guys could point
me to a rom that is definitely ZVC compatible it would be much appreciated. Thanks
zvc dark ui rom
The only dark ui rom i have found to work on my ls980 is CARBON

That rom works for the G2? It's listed under some Samsung device.

Wrong URL, sorry! The one above is right.

My phone came stock ZVC as well, I downgraded to ZV8 and added CM11. Now I want to go CM11 to 2-Faced Rom or another ZVD or ZVC compatible rom however, when I try to flash the proper files to do so I get stuck in a bootloop. Any help? I have also tried flashing the newest dormanx kernel did not uplift the bootloop. My only real want is to run a rom that has LG stock apps and a working hotspot mod that uses the triband radio the phone is fully capable of.
I recently got an LG G2 and was wondering if I can run ROMS based on D802. First off what is the diffwerence in the devices other than celluar. Will it affect the device at all? If you guys can recommend ROMS too that would be great!
Thanks for the help.

You can run D802 ROMs on a D803 *IF* you install a D803 kernel after flashing the D802 ROM and *before* booting.
Back in the early days, I did this with several different ROMs on my D803.
Now, though, there are enough ROMs that support the D803 that there's no need to run a D802 ROM. Just check out the G2 Original Android Development forum for threads with ROMs from Carbon, Mahdi, ParanoidAndroid, Slim, Vanir, and a handful of others.
(Personally, I stopped ROM-hopping after installing Mahdi. Before that, I kept bouncing between Carbon and SlimKat.)

OH cool. One more thing, is there a guide on how to flash a custom recovery on the D803 somewhere? I couldn't find it.

The free version of freegee can install it for you, there is also a TWRP app that can install a recovery.

If you are on the stock LG ROM, read the autorec thread. That will install TWRP for you.

Yes there is a way, theres an app you can install called Autorec, this application will automatically set up a Custom Recovery for you to backup your files, here's a Link to get started.

Thanks for the fast reply, well i read this comment on the link you game me, im just curious and also worried that i might brick my phone, cause im a total noob when it comes to these things,
Here's some of the comments i read about D802T
"Please note you cannot install custom recovery in stock KK via any method for the D802T Australian variant and get it to boot. LG has not released kernel source code for Aussie variant, for KK, so Loki exploit does not work. If you want a custom recovery under KK you will have to install a custom ROM with already patched kernel. If you plan to stay on JB 4.2.2, however, you can indeed root and/or install TWRP without hassle on stock."
"u cant use this on the Australian version D802T.
It will soft brick your phone."
Now what should i do? im just very confused.

there is a way to do it. Follow the guide and root kk but before you install autorec, make sure you have a custom rom zip ready to go on your phone sdcard and whilst still in TWRP (dont try to boot into kk yet), simply flash your custom rom, and then the phone will boot normally.
