I recently got an LG G2 and was wondering if I can run ROMS based on D802. First off what is the diffwerence in the devices other than celluar. Will it affect the device at all? If you guys can recommend ROMS too that would be great!
Thanks for the help.

You can run D802 ROMs on a D803 *IF* you install a D803 kernel after flashing the D802 ROM and *before* booting.
Back in the early days, I did this with several different ROMs on my D803.
Now, though, there are enough ROMs that support the D803 that there's no need to run a D802 ROM. Just check out the G2 Original Android Development forum for threads with ROMs from Carbon, Mahdi, ParanoidAndroid, Slim, Vanir, and a handful of others.
(Personally, I stopped ROM-hopping after installing Mahdi. Before that, I kept bouncing between Carbon and SlimKat.)

OH cool. One more thing, is there a guide on how to flash a custom recovery on the D803 somewhere? I couldn't find it.

The free version of freegee can install it for you, there is also a TWRP app that can install a recovery.

If you are on the stock LG ROM, read the autorec thread. That will install TWRP for you.

Where would I look for a custom rom that works with a D803 (rogers)?
When I had the SGS3, the rogers model = the at&t model and shared the same roms.
Is this the case with the G2?
Or will I have to look at each individual rom and see whether it is compatible in its description?
I'm just starting to look at that my self. rooted until then. but I need a custom recovery as well.

You can flash Cleanrom from the AT&T section. Scott supports our model with his builds so give him a thanks.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2491006
You can also flash this rom, as the dev also supports our model so make sure you give him a thanks as well
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2483040
So here is were we are at. We can flash other Roms that are based on the original lg ROM. Ie clean rom, power user rom.
We can't flash things that require different kernel from what I get.
So no asop or cm based Roms until we see official support.

The LG G2 D803 uses the same rom but with a different boot.img ... The Rogers D803 also has a different D803 boot.img in contrast to the one on Bell, Fido, or even Telus. If you want to flash a rom from AT&T , you have to remove the boot.img

Hi ,
I just got my G2 Yesterday , rooted and flash TWRP right away on the stock 4.2.2 . I am tempted to try out some Kit Kat based custom roms now. I have a few questions
1-) Can i directly flash KK based custom rom ( after a full wipe of 4.2.2 ) ?
2-) Would i be able to go back to my stock rom via nandroid after KK custom rom ? i.e going into recover and flashing the backup again ? ( heard there are not custom recoveries for KK ? )

1-) Yes, kinda. Just look for instructions in OP of the roms. This one works pretty well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2667714 (Only D802 there are LG KK Roms for other variants though, just search the forums)
2-) No, there's no custom recovery for 4.4.2 yet, but devs are getting close. Read more about that here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2667227
Edit: One more thing: You can of course flash AOSP 4.4.2 roms and will keep custom recovery.

So if i understand correctly. There would be no going back from a KK based rom except using the LG tool to flash the stock KDZ right ?

Only AOSP? I just got this phone and I'm familiar with adb and the rooting/recovery process but does this mean I could install a 4.4.2 version of cyanogen or paranoid android or BeanStalk over 4.2.2 and keep my custom recovery?
sent from my potato
This depends on your variant. The D800 kitkat has been moded to allow a mixed match of partitions that allows the previous loki enabled recovery to run. This was released yesterday But Is only possible thanks to the release of the kernel source for the D800 from LG. Other variants will follow. In fact the D800 versions from AndroidUser0011001 and garyd9 will flash from your custom recovery, no LG Flashtool required

Thanks guys !
I think its better to stick with stock rooted for now and jump to KK when all the necessary stuff is made available. So that jumping between KK and JB is easy .
Hey everyone I currently have a LS-980 on stock KK rooted with ioroot25 and twrp'ed using autorec.
What roms out there (if any) are compatible with ZVC? Stock KK is ok but after trying out the Pacman
Rom when I was on JB I just love the kind of vanilla android feel more and I want that back lol. But
don't really want to go through the whole process of downgrading right now. So if you guys could point
me to a rom that is definitely ZVC compatible it would be much appreciated. Thanks
zvc dark ui rom
The only dark ui rom i have found to work on my ls980 is CARBON

Wrong URL, sorry! The one above is right.
Not to get off topic
My phone came stock ZVC as well, I downgraded to ZV8 and added CM11. Now I want to go CM11 to 2-Faced Rom or another ZVD or ZVC compatible rom however, when I try to flash the proper files to do so I get stuck in a bootloop. Any help? I have also tried flashing the newest dormanx kernel did not uplift the bootloop. My only real want is to run a rom that has LG stock apps and a working hotspot mod that uses the triband radio the phone is fully capable of.
So I'm on 4.2.2, rooted.
I just flashed CM11 (first with, then without gapps) and got an annoying bootloop; just the LG Logo.
Luckily I had a backup of stock, so it's all good.
The thing is, I really want CM11.
So what are my prerequisites? Do I have to flash a certain radio or something? I did everything right in every one of my attempts (Flash system, data, cache, etc)
Any advice?
Thanks!

Just flashed TWRP that apparently has the Loki hack (.zip file via Flashify) and same result.

Glad I'm not the only one with this issue, I gave up on trying to install cyanogenmod after numerous failures, I believe it has something to do with having the ZV8 version of The Sprint G2, luckily there's a ROM out there based on cyanogenmod that will work with all Variants of the LG G2, I think your will enjoy this ROM.

If I had to guess I'd say you're on ZVA. Try flashing the ZV8 modem, then CM and see if that works. Get the most updated twrp and CM11 also. CM just released the M8 version yesterday which is a snapshot or stable build.
I had CM up and running a couple weekends ago. Started from ZVC so I had to flash the ZV8 modem for it to boot. Smooth running after that.

Well it took me forever on my friend's wifi to download CM and Gapps, so I think I'm just gonna flash the modem like the other person said and get CM11 working. I'll try your method when I get home and have faster download speed. Lol.
Thanks though!

:good:Excellent, glad to hear that worked for you. LG is definitely more difficult to work with than some other brands. My last device was an HTC and it was so easy to flash roms back and forth. \
Go ahead and grab the modem zip for ZVA (if that's what you were on) to have in case you want to restore your backup. Flash that, then restore. Otherwise it will bootloop also.

Welcome to the G2! Take a look at the stock camera mod by xdabebb in the G2 development section. Well worth the time. G2 Tweaksbox is another favorite. It (along with the xposed framework) allows you to customize tons of areas if the LG skin.

BTW, I can't seem to go back to stock KK using KDZ method because there is a problem in driver "LGE Android MTP" tried uninstalling restarting and installing again. Thanks

If you want to use blisspop 6.4, just flash it.
But if you want to flash Cloudy G3 you will need another LG G3 zzzzzz
In case Cloudy G3 2.2 is a typing mistake, you only have to flash the kitkat baseband first (download here --- credited to Cloudyfa) and then flash the rom.
my English is really bad, just reply if u can't understand any steps =="

No, I mean I am currently using BLISSPOP 6.4 and I want to flash Cloudy Kitkat based rom, how can I do that?
Flash kitkat baseband, then clean wipe then flash cloudy rom?
Does Hybrid bootstack work on Cloudy or do I need to flash another bootstack? Thanks

idk if the hybrid bootstack worked with kitkat-based, cuz I have never try it. I'm sure that the hybrid boootstack work well with cloudy lollipop-based.
