random reboot/shutdown - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I noticed my LG G2 phone reboot several times with no apparent reason.
One time it just shut down completely.
Are there any built in system logs to trace the events of what has caused this?

a little more info may help here. What version of the phone do you have? What rom are you running? any changes of new apps or anything recently?

I think you have misunderstood me. Please don't take any offence. I don't need guidance on how to reset factory settings and step-by-step identify which app or widget is causing the issue.
I need to know if there are system event logs that track this. Track why reboots are happening, by which service/process it has been initiated. Etc.
I'm running the international version.

Screen refresh issue.. system or app?

Before the flaming starts, I know there are threads about the screen refresh issues but think this may be different. Back in the day would call this a screen refresh issue but I've noticed a minor flicker at various times of use. Initially it seemed to occur only when using aldiko, but now I can't tell if it happens regardless of app.. or if my mind is playing tricks.
Anyway to test to see if there is a screen defect? Does rooting do anything to help fix it? Appreciate the help, save the flames for someone else please.

From what I can tell, I think it's a Tegra issue. Nothing in the software.

[Q] OFW 4.4.2 WiFi Not Turning On

Hello everyone
This is my first post here, and I need help with a rather bizarre issue that I am facing
I have a galaxy S4 i337m, it was rooted at ofw 4.3, then I decided to update, using kies, to 4.4.2, then after restart the wifi, and wifi hotspot doesn't turn on at all, I already did a backup using TWRP of the 4.3 state, but before I revert back, I was wondering if there is anything I can do to get rid of this affliction
Regards,
Nas Makkiya
Maybe you should restore, i want to update with kies too but now i read this.

That is what I am trying to avoid doing here, see I still have to 4.3 backup image, I can just revert to it, but I don't want to do a restore since I will lose all the app settings that are stored in the Data, System, etc Folders
Anything I can do to reset WiFi settings?

It's seems that way, but do you have any idea what's causing it?
Same issue here
Hello all. After upgrading to 4.4.2 (OTA) wi-fi worked for a couple of weeks and then went kaput. It will work momentarily after a restore and then won't turn on again. Kies can only restore to 4.3 at the moment and I like 4.4, any other solutions? I also tried the tar.md5 image from another thread and this keeps on keeping on
Possibly related, sometimes the phone will not wake, I'll let it alone for 30 sec and it will respond again. Wake issues?
Anyone around XDA have any suggestions as to what the issue is or a possible fix? Might it be a modem issue? Could the wake from sleep issues be related to waking wifi and bluetooth? Heeeelp!!
This might or might not be relevent to the issues in this thread:
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...-here-is-what-you-should-expect-to-see-fixed/
According to that article, when 4.4.3 is released it will address known issues:
"What's New?
With the introduction out of the way, let's take a look at the list of fixes, prioritized by me in order of importance. The list may not be complete, but this is what we've been told so far:
frequent data connection dropout fix
mm-qcamera-daemon crash and optimization fixes
camera focus in regular and HDR modes fixes
Power Manager display wakelock fix
multiple Bluetooth fixes
fix for a random reboot
app shortcuts sometimes got removed from launcher after update
USB debugging security fix
app shortcuts security fix
Wi-Fi auto-connect fix
other camera fixes
MMS, Email/Exchange, Calendar, People/Dialer/Contacts, DSP, IPv6, VPN fixes
stuck in activation screen fix
missed call LED fix
subtitle fixes
data usage graph fix
Internet telephony fix
FCC compliance fix
miscellaneous fixes"
Of course AT&T will take their time to customize the update as they see fit so it may or may not include all, less, or more. AND NOBODY KNOWS WHEN AT&T WILL RELEASE 4.4.3...SO DON"T ASK.
Hopefully, it will help to fix some of the issues people on 4.4.2 are experiencing.

[Q] random reboots on my N10

Hi all,
for the last few days I keep having random reboots with my N10, as well as random lock-ups.
Started a few days after the 4.4.3 OTA update.
happens like this:
I'm trying to wake up my tablet with the power button but nothing happens so I have to reboot.
Or, I am just normally using my tablet ant it spontaneously reboots, without warning, and also without any kind of lockup before that.
What is really annoying is that after such a reboot the tablet is not actually usable: none of the normal autostart apps initialize properly;
flipboard doesnt refresh, calendar widget does not show any entries, mail widget does not show anything, etc etc etc.
I'm on stock 4.4.3, but rooted with SuperSU.
it did not start right after the 4.4.3 OTA, only a few days later (actually, i think on friday or saturday).
Is there a way to get into the system logs to see what is up?
...turn on auditing, maybe?
Any other suggestions that might help me? What kind of details do you need?
Hi,
It looks like someone got a possible solution. I didn't test because I don't face random reboots on my Nexus.

Hi,
It looks like the person in the other thread set it to always display on notification bar, nothing other than that... As I said I didn't test so I can't tell you how possible it is for working or anything, sorry. I just gave this solution for now, if it doesn't work then I'd have to think a bit further .

Samsung s4 shuts off by itself

Alright so recently out of the blues whenever I go on Google Maps or browse the internet on the S4. It turns off by itself, I try it again and it does it again. Not sure exactly why but I'm looking for an explanation of some sort, or if some one else is facing the same issue. It would be kindly appreciated if any one could enlighten me to as what I should do to solve such an issue.
Thanks for taking the time
does this only happen with certain apps or will it shut down by doing anything within the phone?

Try rooting, installing Xposed, installing Wanam, enabling it in Xposed, reboot, and look for the option about SystemServer Crash and try enabling it.

You should provide more details like firmware version, the physical state of your phone at least, before asking such questions. The issue can be of software or hardware nature but you didn't provided any useful information ...
Out of curiosity, just turn off GPS and try to reproduce the issue. If you don't want to root and use the tools to trace the logs, the process of elimination is the only way to narrow the issue down.
Fixed the issue.
Hey guys, thanks for taking the time to reply, it seems I have found what caused this issue. It was actually my battery, one of the gold plates within it needed to be properly cleaned, in which I did and everything went back to normal. I thought maybe perhaps it had something to do with the custom ROM itself.
Thanks for taking the time guys, really means a lot XDA community has always been amazing!

After the New Update Exynos Model (BUGS)

Hello Guys,
I am from India, I got the latest update attached screenshot.
I am facing few issues:-
The phone has become laggy in some departments such as:
1. The fingerprint mark stays on the screen after the screen unlocks.
2. Even after pressing the power button screen doesn't lock. The screen does black out but when I double tab on the screen it directly takes me to the home screen without showing the lockscree first. I am not using Google trusted location or devices to unlock without taking my fingerprint or face recognition.
3. When I try to dial a number it doesn't call at a single go, after pressing multiple times it calls the person whom I am trying to call. It looks very choppy as if the system responding to my commands little later.
4. Whenever I am trying to take the screenshot it doesn't take at a single go, after pressing multiple times the system recognises I am trying to take the screenshot and respond little later.
All the apps are working fine without any lags but the above said things are bothering me a lot.
I hope someone from XDA can assist me with this.
P.S.: I have tried to clear the cache from the boot screen. Also did a test on graphics from the same menu.

Thanks for your reply! I hope somebody facing similar problems has overcome and provide suggestions.
But Sammobile blog has also confirmed these issues.
II havent faced any of these issues post update.
Did you try doing a factory reset? If not, try the same if its not too much of an issue for you.
I have the same but I updated today over mobile data.
Came home and it started to behave like described above.
So I figured it is something with the updated WiFi drivers.
Switched off Wi-Fi and all seems fine now.

No I didn't do factory reset as I have checked from other forums that factory reset is not helping, the new update is broken.

Also one more question I don't know if it's my phone or everyone is facing this issue. Whenever I switch on VoLTE calls (Screenshot Attached) my phone temperature increases and battery drains.

So, you're saying only the ppl that took the OTA are facing the issues? In that case i will probably try that then if the bug returns for me.
For now after switching WiFi On/Off for me it is gone.
Seen reports that plugging in the charger does the same.
Weird stuff indeed.
Also now i see a fellow Dutch, you by any change using Rabobank stuff (Wallet/App) with tripped KNOX and have no problems with it?

No, its possible that some users who do flash a rom with Odin could face some issues too but i personally don`t. I`am using the ABN bank app and i haven`t rooted for a long time now. I used to do it because of theming and getting updates/upgrades but nowadays i personaly don`t see a reason anymore to root anymore. So i can`t help you with your question.
I happened to flash "ASE5" build two ways :
1. First using ODIN 2 days back . Did a factory reset ,erased cache in recovery, reinstalled all apps & after setting them up:-
issues faced -> None.
2. Went back to previous "ASD5" build, downloaded the "ASE5 OTA" update and installed. Did a factory reset, erased cache in recovery, reinstalled all apps & after setting them up:-
issues faced so far -> None.
*One glitch I'm noticing from the beginning with "ASE5" :
When I click on my apps & games(playstore app>drop down menu on the left), it freezes for a split second while it takes into the main page. With all my effort, I could not fix it. (App cache cleaning only temporarily fixes this).

A split second delay bothers you? What apps are running in the background? Do you have the FaceBook app installed? How did you set your animations?

No it does not "bother"but is a step back in smoothness if that counts. It's a "difference" that I noticed since I was testing both builds back and forth for a comparison. Rest be assured that it's not related to apps installed and animations set.

Erase playstore cache and you won't even notice it for a while only to re-appear after sometime.
"Less noticiable" and "very much noticiable" in my usage in 1x & .5x respectively. In ASD5 build, this transition slips like a soap.
