Before the flaming starts, I know there are threads about the screen refresh issues but think this may be different. Back in the day would call this a screen refresh issue but I've noticed a minor flicker at various times of use. Initially it seemed to occur only when using aldiko, but now I can't tell if it happens regardless of app.. or if my mind is playing tricks.
Anyway to test to see if there is a screen defect? Does rooting do anything to help fix it? Appreciate the help, save the flames for someone else please.

From what I can tell, I think it's a Tegra issue. Nothing in the software.

Ho all,
I am having a serious problem with touch display alligning. It happened two times, on resuming it from stand by, touch screen lost its configuration. So that display becomes unusable becouse finger touch doesn't have a correct corrispondance. I had to restart device to have it working again.
Have you installed any custom ROMs? If not...
You'll want to contact HTC as this sounds like it may be a hardware issue. http://www.htc.com/www/support/nexusone/

No, I still haven't rooted it. It's with stock rom. HW problem? I wish in a SW issue..
I've seen this issue crop up on my rooted N1 as well. A reboot fixes it, as does waiting it out. For some reason I seem to notice it happening when I'm in the browser. There's a thread here about it (which evidently I can't link to since I'm new). Check the second page of the general section, the subject is "touch screen issues".
Seems like a software issue to me, but who knows.
The first thing to do if you have these types of obvious software issues is a hard reset (Settings>Privacy>Factory Reset). If that doesn't work, then it's time to call HTC.

Thank you all! I found the post where this is being discussed.
This is an issue many people are experiencing on google support forums, in fact it is the second longest thread after the 3g issues. It has also finally been pinned. Here is the link: http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/android/thread?tid=04134c63c784258e&hl=en#all
Anyone experiencing the same problem please post in that thread, the more people that post the more chance for google to acknowledge this and remedy.
BTW I also experince issues with the touch screen which happen quite randomly and can normally be cleared with a power on/off. When the screen goes bad the touch is no longer registered in the correct spot on the screen.
Hi all,
I'm running OzDROID 2.0 for my rom, 2.10.50.26 for my radio, and Hyperdroid1.6 for Android. Also TMOUS. I just recently updated my rom from an energy build to this one (wanted a lighter, faster loading WinMo). I've been having a nasty problem with the screen not coming back on when it goes to sleep. The buttons light up when i press them, but the screen stays black. Just today alone, i've had to pull the battery FOUR times. Some days it's ok, some days it's a nightmare. I checked the hyperdroid post for a radio recomendation but couldn't see any. I've tried using SetCPU to adjust clock speeds using profiles for sleeping, etc in hopes that some obscure thing will work. no good. I mean, what if i see bigfoot and want to snap a pic but the screen doesn't turn on?
My only ideas left include:
-Formatting my 16gb SD card. (would like to avoid, but will do if people think it would help. I hate setting stuff back up)
-Getting Hyperdroid1.7. (Havent yet cause 1.6 w/ Cyanogen is pretty F'n awesome, and minus this problem, i LOVE it)
-Updating my radio. (Going to do this anyways as i randomly get the "robot voice" problem. I plan on upgrading to 2.12.50.02_2 unless anyone has better suggestions)
I just wanted to check here to see if anyone has one of those "Ohh, enable <enableable option>, dumbass!" fixes. I'm not that experienced with this phone stuff. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks!
Searching is your friend. App tray->Settings->Display->Auto-Rotate to OFF/Auto brightness to OFF. This has been covered bajillions of times, the HD2 builds of Android have problems with rotation and the light sensor causeing the kernel to wig out and BSOD.
Sorry for inconveniencing you. If you had any idea how much time i've spent on here trying to figure it out, you'd understand why I decided to just ask this myself. I've had this problem for a month and am finally just now posting. If I found that anywhere I would have gladly done it. The funny thing is - those two ARE disabled, and have been. I dont like auto-rotate and auto-adjust brightness has always been off.
I even took the time to read the "similar posts" that are recommended after typing in the subject.
Since those two are off and my problem persists, I suppose I should format my SD card and try other stuff. So while that problem may have been covered "a bajillion times" it appears your solution is not the miracle cure and is probably a good reason as to why it's been asked "a bajillion times."
Why is it then when I tell people to search, they instantly peg me as some jackass just trying to pawn them off. This issue, the "black screen of death" or, "my phone wont wake from sleep under android" HAS INDEED been covered many, many times. It's cause by either what I just told you, or the particular kernel that you are running is one that tends to get stuck in the sleep mode and won't let the screen come back on. Seriously 9 times out of 10 the problem is caused by auto rotate or auto brightness.
Ashasaur is right but also none of the android versions are very stable anyway and eventually you will face this problem on all of them some sooner than others but they will eventually crash in one way or another

I don't doubt that, but when you reply to someone asking for help with a tone as if they are retarded, don't expect them to buy you flowers. Sorry this has been asked so many times but I feel i put good time into researching this problem and didn't see a problem asking a Question on a QUESTION and answer forum. Like i said, sorry i inconvenienced you and I do appreciate your response, however you did come across as a jackass. I understand you probably deal with a lot of crap as a forum mod, but I didn't post this intending to ruin your day. You can see my post count and gather from it that I don't spend days posting pointless questions. If I came across a solution that worked, this post wouldn't exist.
Try a different radio(2.11.50.20) seems to be doing good for me, also try copying your files to a better SD card. And there is a tab under Setting>Home>>Items that says Home Timeout: 4 Hrs... try unchecking that box. I am new to the HD2 also and trying to tweak it just right so it stops turning off in the middle of the night and making me late for work cause no alarm lol
We all know that there is a random issue with the keyboard letters being unresponsive randomly (and on random handsets). Sometimes its a delete (backspace) button, sometimes its a letter A or P. The only way to fix it would be putting the phone to sleep and waking it up.
I tried to search for the solution and did not find an answer. I tried different keyboards - the issue persists.
I am running RoyalGinger 3.0
Does anyone know how to fix it? I really love Royal Ginger, but this issue is quite annoying.
I've experienced it too. I made a thread about it, don't know if you've seen it.
But you may wanna take a look as dozens of other people have reported it. Some have found temporary fixes and such.
But here it is.

If you could post your input there as well as to which ROM it has happened to you and anything else would be nice. That way we can kinda have a consensus on what ROM's it's occurring.
I'm on a rooted Note 3 (Verizon), running 4.3
Recently I began experiencing the annoying auto rotation glitch. Seems to be completely random too. Restarting the phone removes the glitch - but it eventually comes back. I've tried pretty much everything but nothing gets rid of this glitch other than restarting the phone.
I did find this thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=53138619
...I'm new to rooting, I see that this solution is for 4.4 so I'm hesitant to try it.
Anyone run into this glitch and found a cure? Will the solution found in that thread work under 4.3? Is it worth a shot to try it (I haven't tried it 'cause I don't know if it'll cause problems since I'm on 4.3)?
You may want to let us know exactly what the glitch is. Does it not rotate? I know on my current build which is stock, it almost always rotates once when I open the browser no matter what orientation the phone is in.

The Note 3 will stop automatically rotating the screen. The thing is, it's totally random. Sometimes it'll stop right away, sometimes it might be fine 'til the end of the day and then it stops.
I've been closely monitoring what apps I'm running when it happens, can't seem to find a culprit.
Restarting the phone fixes the glitch, but it's just annoying to have to restart the phone to get auto rotation back.
I've poured through what seems like hundreds of threads trying to find a fix. I've turned auto rotation on then off of course along with so many other tips and tricks that folks have suggested.
EDIT: But that thread I linked to above was the first one to suggest modifying a file to restore auto rotation. I'm a noob so I just don't want to immediately do that without askin' if it should work for me or not though.
Hi everybody, I have a Moto X Pure (XT1575) with Stock ROM 6.0, and I'm having this weird issue. Every time I play some video on fullscreen, no matter what app, display turns off after a few seconds... And what's weirder, audio never stops playing and if I move the phone a little bit, screen turns on again... It's like the compass or gyro sensor has something to do with it... I was thinking about Moto app being responsible for this, so I turned on and off every option related to the Screen over there, in every possible combination...
Any other person with this rare issue??
Greetings!
did you solve your problem? I have the same issue as you. would you like to share your experience please?
I get this issue every once in a while. I just solve it by restarting the device. I am not sure what triggers it. I watch a lot of video on my phone every day and this only happens maybe once or twice a month. A google search will show that its been a known issue for a long time now.

No problem. In other forums people have suggested turning off Moto display and/or adaptive brightness but that has not worked for me. It still keeps happening occasionally. I Hope it's something that will be fixed in Android 7.
hope so, but it still need waiting for several months , and since my phone is Asian version, I guess I have to wait for much longer times... if your problem is solved after updating to 7.0, would you please to let me know? thank you!
