Hi to all and I hope you all had a great Christmas and I wish you all a prosperous new year.
On Christmas Eve I updated my phone to the 4.3 software through Kies and ever since then, I cannot turn my WIFI toggle on at all- it switches off quickly without connecting, I have tried a few WIFI patches but I cannot find one for my baseband/build number, so none have been successful so far.
Another problem is that when my phone 'sleeps' (I lock it using the power button) it disconnects from my mobile network and sometimes it will reconnect back however after a few times it will stop reconnecting and then I have to keep switching Network Mode ( from LTE/WCDMA/GSM to WCDMA/GSM and vice versa) to be able to get signal. SOLVED
If it is important, my phone was rooted using Odin before doing the 4.3 update however I did NOT install any custom FW, custom recovery or any other modifications.
I'm from the U.K and 3 is my network provider.

Hi mate,
Try flashing MK9 GSM modem and LTE Modem via ODIN.........Your build is new bootloader and looks like an old 4.2 baseband.
Look HERE for them.
EDIT - Although I am not too sure if this will affect your KNOX Warranty Status!!!!!
EDIT 2 - But if this was an official update and your phone is currently unrooted/official then I would imagine you could return it to be repaired and explain the update has made things worse?

Thanks for the fast reply! I just flashed the MK9 Modem like you said and I can confirm the network lost when sleeping problem has been solved! Thank you so much !
As for the KNOX status, when I go into download mode there is NOT a KNOX field. I thought once I updated to 4.3 there would be a field designated to KNOX however this is not the case, though I do have the KNOX app on my phone. So basically, I don't know whether I have voided the KNOX warranty or not. Could this be a source to the WIFI problem?
My binary is still custom so I can't give it in for warranty. I'm aware of the Triangle away app however I believe I need to root my phone again? and im not sure if this is possible for 4.3 on GT-I9505 yet...?
Do you have any idea as to how to solve the WIFI problem? Thanks again!

Is this really the only solution? I don't want to cause any more damage to my phone, I just want to get the WIFI working and be on stock ROM

Hi and thanks for looking at this post,
I have searched the forums and haven't found a thing that works for my phone. I rooted and backed up my current version this morning (4.2.2 stock) using CWM. I then proceded to install Wanamlite 1.5 for the S4 GT-I19505, which installed but had serious issues with sound, everything would crash when the volume controls were pressed or headphones inserted. I therefore switched ROM to Android revolution HD 1.0. I installed what I thought was the relevant wifi fix, but no joy.
At this point, I restored to stock 4.2.2 hoping it would solve the issue, but it hasn't, my cwm backup also has the issue after attempting to restore.
Anyone got any suggestions of how I can fix this? I thought the stock restore would have done this, but obviously not.
I am running android 4.2.2 on a stock rom (XXUAMDD_I9505EVRAMDA_EVR).
GT - I9505
If you need to know anything else, let me know. Thanks.
- Go to CWM
- Make a full wipe (data, system and cache)
- Restore ur old stock backup
- I think this will solve ur problems :highfive:

Thanks for the quick response, unfortunately it hasn't worked
I'm assuming it's a kernel issue, but surely that would have been replaced after installing back to stock? Is there anywhere we can download the individual required kernels maybe?

Thanks for the help, was a different file from the one I tried earlier, but still no joy with this one either.
There doesn't appear to be a wifi-fix from the list of those files for my version. I'm going to try it, combined with a complete stock reinstall now, to see if there is any change.

I really dont understand why are you trying to revert into your back up? when you can just flash a 4.3 stock rom in order to fix all this problem? then root it after ? just so you know that your warranty is already void sir. so go ahead and make a back up and flash a 4.3 stock rom from samsung website. thank you.

H O W DO WE FIX THIS FRIGGEN ISSUE!?!?
Everyone is having this same damn problem, I've had it for about a month, flashed all sorts of roms, wifi fixes, different modems etc
and its not working, I matched my ap cp csc so they are all the same:
Last night it was reading:
AP: I9505XXUFNB8
CP: I9505XXUFNB8
CSC:I9505XXUFNB8
= NO SOUND
Its all the same now except
CP: I9505XXUFNA5
Please help, or even better - if someone has the knowledge to let me know what is actually wrong here and I can then research and fix it myself.
THAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAnks..
same problem here!!! Absolutely no sound on my Galaxy S4.. But I noticed that I have sound only if there is not flashed modem after installing clean rom (Phoenix).. So there must be problem with modem.. But any modem that I tried to flash doesn't trigger the sound, the latest, the oldest... really dont know.... :///////

Yeah I anticipated that I will lose root but it's no big deal. It's just that with Kies 3 it let me all the way to ticking the boxes and the next step being update whereas the old Kies never let me go that far with custom status.
Also has a nice new warning in red about rooted phones potentially being damaged by updating, which I never saw before, hence why I asked. I presumed though that it's the standard Samsung warnings just in case something goes wrong
Just need to charge my battery because it won't let me update just yet at 77%.

Summary: my I9505 mic, earpiece and speaker don't seem to work and cause fc/not responding on functions that use them (phone), what should I do to resolve? (I have flashed a bunch of ROMs, and a couple modems...).
Detail:
Ok, so firstly I must apologise for not recalling the somewhat random sequence of events which has brought me to this juncture... I was fiddling around with a few different ROMs and when I noticed the problem I sort of frantically tried flashing things to fix it (yes, I'm aware this is a very sensible approach )
I've flashed a few different ROMs and at some point flashed a new modem.
I noticed yesterday that I was not getting any sounds out of my phone, noticed when using the volume buttons, no beep; further investigation revealed the speaker, earpiece and microphone seem to have decided to take an indefinite nap...
Any suggestions on how to proceed with waking them up?!
There is a message in the logcat:
getDeviceForStrategy() speaker device not found
Though not sure if this helps at all.
Making/receiving phonecalls the screen goes black and either rings out to voicemail before I can answer, then displays not responding wait/close error or the other person answers and neither side can hear then same not responding error.
I've not changed the bootloader (as far as I'm aware...).
Wifi/mobile internet work fine.
Tried flashing an old modem, factory resetting, reflashing a ROM (currently CM10.2) but no dice... since I'm a bit lost I figured stop fiddling and ask for help
Current baseband: I9505ZHUAME3
Current bootloader: I9505ZHUBMF4
Any suggestions on how to proceed to un-screw my phone would be greatly appreciated. :good:

Thanks for the reply; downloaded, flashed as CP seemed successful but still no joy, same no sound and unresponsive phone app
It says WiFi fix; WiFi is working, how would this fix the audio problem? (not being snarky, just curious as to the relation to the problem)

Flashing a wrong LTE/Wifi fix will loose your sound . in Old bootloader you can't flash any newer LTE modem than UBMH1.and for the New bootloader you can flash all the new LTE modems, including MKF etc.. So boot your phone into download mode and check if you have an entry of knox warranty void then you have newbootloader. and make sure you manually turn off your phone and wait atleast 10 sec and boot your phone into download mode and flash . (Because sometimes flashing a modem/lte doesnt work and need to do it twice.
Use Odin
Untick Autoreboot
Flash modem
Reboot once again into Download Mode using (Power+Voldown)
Flash Modem once more
Once done, unplug then reboot device manually.
If this doesn't work, try repeating the flash process again while rebooting manually and with auto-reboot option turned off.

There is no mention of knox, it just says:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9505
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
CSB-CONFIG-LSB: 0x30
WRITE PROTECTION: Enable

What am I flashing? The WiFi fix you linked above? I flashed that using this method and it hasn't made any difference.

With which modem? I've tried that twice to no avail.
Thanks for your continued help, it's appreciated.

Yes indeed! Thanks again!
I'm now wondering whether I should upgrade to a newer bootloader? Is it worth it and can it be done without getting into knox related issues?

Im still in oldbootloader and i just download and flash a custom rom 4.4.2 via recovery .. and incase something wrong with my phone in a future . iE Hardware related.etc theni can just flash a 4.2.2 and send it for repair for free... and about newbootloader , flashing any custom rom/rooting will triggered your knox , so feel free to flash the latest stock 4.4.2 kitkat if you dont care about your Warranty. But like i said you can still flash a 4.4.2 custom rom without flashing a newbootloader (Never flash a newbootloader , Make sure to ask first before flashing anything) Have a nice day.
Edited: @mrlizard123 Never flash a latest Wifi fix so you wont get this problem again. only flash a GSM MODEM. if your flashing a custom 4.4.2 rom then you need to flash a latest GSM MODEM base from your country. in order to fix dropping signal issue when the phone went to sleep.
hi friend i am facing some bug in my device after kitkat update g4 and i thought it get fix in next version but not in nh3 too. Bug are in home lock screen walpaer dnt get change in ripple effect
And while using sim 2 only by disabling sim 1 and req ussd code and make a call it says mobile network nt availble.

First thing try interchanging the sims and later try factory reset and finally if none works Flash the firrmware

You don't need to use Triangle Away now... You must press three buttons (home + power + volume DOWN) until a screen with a triangle shows, you press volume up to continue, then plug in your phone via USB (Of course to your PC) after the "Downloading..." screen appears.
Assuming you already have all drivers and stuff to listen from your USB connection, you then have to open Odin program to flash the firmware file you used to install KitKat. That's how you re-install your firmware.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To reset cache partition, you hold down home, power and volume UP this time, this is for entering recovery mode, when you see the blue "Recovery botting" at the top you can release all buttons now, then you go down to "Reset cache partition" and make sure you don't select "Factory reset" if you see a long list of "No no no no no no" then you're in the wrong area, and you MUST go back again.

Our Grand 2 doesn't have a KNOX WARRANTY VOID bit. Don't worry.
But this will be important if rooting a S4 or a Note 3 or above.

Then why does we have this in our device?
And why do we have to disable knox during the root process

Because it shows annoying notifications saying:
Unauthorized changes have been made. Reboot to undo them.
Nothing happens after a reboot.
KNOX*.apk are the ones responsible for this.
Hi,
I got a bricked Note 3 SM-N9005 from my brother and managed to make it boot with an OEM FW 4.4.2 from sammobile. Before that, the phone was freezing all the time and with null IMEI / unknown baseband.
Now it boots and was working fine until I tried to root with the Autoroot ODIN flash able file from the forums here.
The phone now boots, and works fine until I connect to wifi. First network that is connected works fine, but if it disconnects or if I try to connect to another, wifi gets greyed out and I'm only able to use it if I do a factory restore. Flashing the OEM rom is not working. I get the same problem.
Any fixes? Thanks

im not a pro with any of this but from my knowledge, factory reset ur phone, create back ups if needed. if that doesnt work get the latest firmware like nf4 or ng1 for ur phone which should work. then for root use http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/general/root-root-xxufnf4-stock-firmware-knox-t2840150 method of just going back to he old kernel which will not allow wifi to turn on so u will need data! READ the OP post. then ur phone should be working fine i hope. this is all i can say as im not any phone guru and just telling all that ik. and ive rooted in that way and am on ng1 with root with knox 0x0.

Nothing, I tried all the things that guy did and sent him a PM but he has not answered. I'm willing to ship this phone to a good developer here and pay if necessary.
Found the fix.
Use Root Explorer.
Delete the files below that are inside /data/misc/wifi/
wpa_supplicant (folder)
wpa_supplicant.bak.conf
wpa_supplicant.conf
Go to build.prop press menu and select Text Editor than find this line:
ro.securestorage.support=true
change it to:
ro.securestorage.support=false
Save. Reboot, wifi should be fine.
