[Q] Odin Mode and Knox Lines Color - Verizon Galaxy Note 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My question is why are the two knox lines in odin mode screen grey on my phone and not white like I see on other odin mode photos. My note 3 is completely stock and the knox counters are at 0x0. I'm on the mje update if that matters. Dose anyone else have the grey lines instead of white? I've googled this and find no explanation and a photo search shows all others that I can find are white. It's probably nothing to get excited about but I would like to know.

Here is a photo if it helps...

Mine looks just like that too. I have the black retail edition from launch day. Maybe it could be different across baseband versions or something? I have no idea.

Thanks for the reply. Mine is black too but I got it a week ago from today. Either way I'm sure the Knox counter will do it's job and I don't care to find out if that is true yet. At least until some genius dev finds a way to reset Knox or a fool proof way around it.

How to restore to stock when 3/4 screen is blank

Okay, so I rooted and installed a custom ROM on my cousin's Droid X for her a few weeks ago. All went smoothly. Suddenly yesterday, about 3/4 of her screen came up with just like, gray lines. The top portion is normal, however. But you can't see too much of the screen at all. (I'll try to post a pic soon.)
Sooo she obviously needs to try to do a warranty claim on the phone, and needs to get it back to stock. How can I go about this? Obviously it's gonna be hard doing anything that requires physically seeing stuff far down on the screen, or even midway...
Hate to sound rude, but help asap would be great; as she has to go to work soon so trying to help while I can... Thanks guysss
UPDATE: Trying to use RSD LITE to SBF it now. Crossing fingers that works, and also that I can manage to hit "data wipe/restore" on the screen. We shall see :-/ lol
Update #2: After flashing the sbf (it stated "PASS"), the phone then became stuck on the bootloader screen, no matter what is tried when the battery is inserted and the phone is powered on... no way to get in recovery, etc...
Phone just says:
BOOTLOADER 30.04
then underneath it says Err: A5, 70, 70, 00, 1F
After finally reading online, it seems it's probably due to the wrong sbf being flashed. (She was kind of freaking out and rushing me due to her having to leave for work )
So after reading this thread linked below, it seems I can possibly unbrick and get out of the bootloader by using that SBF.
thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=902074
Update #3: Okay, it seems that last try worked to get it past the bootloader and to a different screen, though due to the gray bars on most of it, all I can really see is the status bar... which shows a blue triangle (which i read means it needs to be reactivated, and the service bars and the battery.
I'm not completely sure how to make certain it's unrooted and back to stock with just this area available to view, anyone else have any idea? I'm not overly familiar with how stock looks on Droid X, as I have a Captivate...
Pic attached for reference of what it's looking like.
From the nofitication bar, it looks stock. Hard to tell though but if you SBF'ed and it said PASS, then it should be back to stock. Good luck with your claim.
It's unrooted and stock, but with an issue like that they'll probably send another one as soon as they boot it up. Besides, rooting wouldn't cause a display failure like that, so it would be pretty ballsy of them to deny you.

[Q] firmware

Hi, I got a videotron (canadian carrier) note 4. Unlock and using it on rogers network. I bought it second hand, and seller didn't told me about the root..... On sammobile site, for the firmware, all canadian carrier have model sm-n910w8 as model #. Is it safe to flash rogers firmware on it? And is there a way to see if knox (probably been tick off) how many time and anyway to reset it. Looking through google but a bit lost. Thanks for your help
Bump
You can boot in download mode to check knox. If tripped it cannot be reset as of yet.
Thanks, that's what I was getting so, no biggies. Now, firmware side, beside sammobile, is that one look ok
http://www.theandroidsoul.com/unbri...alaxy-note-4-sm-n910w8-bell-rogers-telus-etc/
Mm might be for exynos chip note 4.... Not good I guess
Edit #2 http://samsung-updates.com/details/34574//SM-N910W8/BMC/N910W8VLU1ANIH.html
Seem better but not sure
I don't know much about north American models.

my guess is that any n910w8 firmware will work on any n910w8 phone, just different bloatware from carrier.
That's my guess also and as long as it is meant for Canada

bump
Followed that how to: http://youtu.be/WlHN7XPDvXQ go through all the prossess. Phone optimize the app.... How to get a return to stock, a full clean install. Any better walk through?

Just flash with Odin and then make a hard reset from recovery. Then download cereus. As of about the bloat you need root to remove anything that comes preinstalled
Cerberus is installed, just can't use it cause device is linked to another account...... Settler swear he bought it new... On kijiji.... Kind of funny I guess
It comes preinstalled on a Samsung official firmware? Never seen that

Would be very surprise was pre-installed. someone else with a N4 could confirm. I know that you can make cerberus a system app if rooted, so a hard-reset, from the phone wouldn't erase it, but I flash through odin, should erase all and put new rom.... Seller don't seem 100% legit if can say, He told me that i could get another security app.... he think that it"s might be the place that have unlock the phone that have put it on it,... thinking asking for a refund
And quick info, capacitive buttons, when they light up, do they look like with thin lines over them (thin black lines) or there is no interruption all white with nothing over

lol. looks like you got a fake note 4. the HDC ones have the black lines.

Air command open when button on stylus is pressed, dot show on screen as soon as stylus is about a inch of screen, a cursor like a | show if there is text under and keep pressing the button. Kies see the phone, as a note 4. What HDC mean? Saw a few pic where the line shows on the net. But still trying to get a refund from seller, he told me he wasn't a store, than he told me to give him the phone, he would sell it and pay me after.... Imei on phone and box don't match, and the one on phone, you google it and get result.... At least not blacklisted on protectyourdata.ca and using the phone.
Any input?

Red/pink/green vertical line on screen

Hi!
I have this single thread line that goes from top of the screen to the bottom. I changes color depending on what color the screen is.
This is a hardware issue but I would like to know if someone here fixed this issue by factory resetting the phone? I read it online.
Tomorrow after work I will go to the store and make them change the screen. I would rather get a new device because I have far more issues with the device, non of them got resolved by factory resetting the phone.
I bought the device 3 1/2 months a go. It is a international unlocked exynos variant.
Anyone else having this kind of issue? Please do share your experience!
I had the same problem as yours. Luckily I can removed it by pressing top right and bottom right of the screen at the same time (the red line is on the right side of the screen).
Sometimes the line keep appearing and I have to press it again.
Hopefully it works for you too.
I unfortunately broke my note 5 screen.
Got it changed from an authorized workshop for INR 9.6k in New Delhi, India.
Bad luck strike again, without any physical damage to the phone a very thin green vertical line appeared on the LHS of screen out of no where.
Pressing the screen, didnt work for me.
I had been to the Samsung store, they say they will be changing the display as its a hardware issue.
Looking for a solution as the line is v irritating and the agency is running of screens. I will have to wait for another week.
Same problem for me with pink line two weeks ago. My S7 is under warranty but sadly Samsung won't repair it because I'm root.
I think that is a very bad actuation with their customers when they know this issue is because a factory defective part.
I'll never buy a Samsung device again after this.
I'll chose a OnePlus for example because they respect the root users without lose the warranty in their products. :good::good:

But they can use the knox counter and it doesn't exist any way to reset it...

I'm afraid there is not a knox counter reset solution. If you know it let me know it
I do have the same problem as my Galaxy Note 8 was getting such kind of white and red vertical lines. It was really a worried situation because I have bought it new and was only 4 months old.
I have searched a lot in several forums and discussions of how to fix vertical lines but nothing helped me. Done everything like rebooted my phone, charged the phone to 100%, restarted the device in safe mode but nothing helped me.
At last, I have done factory reset but this has also not helped me and later on I have to change the LCD display. This was the only solution that make me accessible my phone again.

Verizon S7 Edge Gray Bars Across Screen

I have these darkened areas of the screen going horizontally across and there's maybe 4 of them. The always on display is not affected by it but everywhere else it is. It started when I went to the U firmware. The first day everything worked well and just today this started happening, somewhere after 4pm. There's no miscoloration just simply shaded bars. I think it is a display problem because I flashed the stock firmware back and this issue still occurs, even in download mode. Does anybody know what this is and what I can do to solve it? Samsung said my warranty is now void after I flashed the international firmware but since KNOX is not tripped, if I were to bring it back to Verizon I'm not sure if they'll still find out. Thanks for the help.

Is there any solution for the horizontal lines?

Have spent the last few days reading about the horizontal lines on the S7 edge and am more confused than i was at the start.
Is there any solution that works to get rid of them? I have found a "flicker free" kernel and many other option but before i start trying it all i thought to ask maybe someone has had the same issue.
My device is a 935FD fully stock, nothing has been updated, rooted, flashed or similar. Today an OTA update from Samsung came and since the i have horizontal lines over the screen.
A factory reset or cache partition wipe hasn't helped.
Any help is greatly appreciated
I had the exact same issue with the lines, had to give in my phone at Samsung to repair. There are options to minimize the lines, but it will stay there. According to samsung the led was broken, hence the lines

Samsung is turning more and more into Apple and i really hate buying stuff from them lately.
There are hundreds of reports online that the lines eventually disappear in many cases after a while. Also when full brightness is on there are no lines so how can they claim the LED was broken
I did the full brightness thing for about a month. The battery life sucked. The lines were less visible when on full brightness, but not 100% gone. It irritated the crap out of me, so I took it in after about 2 months of trying all the things I read on the subject and hoping it would go away. Some people were lucky and it went away, I was not...
Just change the display with a new one
