Thanks for passing it on. Got 5 screen protectors for a few different phones for $3.49 shipped.
I got this on a promotion a while back. Personally I didn't like it and replaced it already. This is a wet apply screen protector and it has a very gummy, soft feeling to it. Fit was OK and it seemed to protect well, but I couldn't stand the gummy feeling of it. I bought a cheapo pack of dry ones off Amazon instead.

I saw this sale listed on slickdeals the other day, and as soon as I saw they were applied wet, I passed. I bought a Zagg Invisible Shield once when it was the only thing available locally that would fit the phone I needed it for, and I'll never get another wet-apply screen protector again.

I used it before. Personally I have no problem installing the screen protector. But I just don't like the tacky feeling of the surface.
Sent from my XT1053 using Tapatalk 2
I bought several a few months ago when they were 80% off. Not bad, especially for the price. It was very easy to install and after a couple days the "tacky" feel went away and was very smooth... Definitely not up to par with the higher end screen pros but at a small fraction of the price, to me, is a very good deal.
I would recommend them at the greatly discounted price, they get the job done and they are extremely easy to install perfectly.
AT&T Moto X rocking rooted 4.4
I already had a screen protector that I really like (the Power Support one from Motorola site), but I ordered one of the Xtreme Guard back side protectors. It was extremely easy to install, looks great, and adds just a little grip to the phone, which was more slippery than I would have liked. For 50% off (the deal at the time I ordered), this was definitely worth it.
Much deal. Very protection.
If you want a higher quality screen protector without that sticky feel I strongly recommend Skinomi over these. Still pretty cheap. On sale for $9 on Amazon.

I use Fosmon screen protector and am satisfied. It's quite resistant to scratches, compared to some other films I have used in the past.
Xtreme Guard is ok, I actually like the wet installation method because it guarantees there will be no bubbles. I just don't like its tackiness which doesn't go away with time. Plus it's a finger print attractant, and sometimes it displays rainbow patterns when viewed from a certain angle.
Make sure you poke out the hole for the mic at the bottom of the protector. I did not the first time & no one could hear me.

Maybe. My RAZR one was flawless. Tiny bit tacky but overall very smooth, no bubbles, no orange peel, no rainbow.
My nexus 7, however, had 3 attempts and they're all too sticky. One had serious orange peel effect too and another had permanent bubbles after just 2nd attempt. But worst is the stickiness. You can literally hear your fingers squeeking across the screen.
Ps: with Canadian shipping, it's $22+. MimeUSA is $24 + $5 shipping. Totally worth it.
Pps: I'm using XtremeGuard now on my nexus. It isn't perfect but a whole lot smoother.

When it says leave the device off for 24 hours, is that before or after you put the shield on? I can't see why it'd be before, but just curious.
Also, anyone have any special warnings before I apply this thing?
it's after you put it on to let it cure. It's going to feel weird spraying liquid on your screen to set the protector, but it does work. I've only used the Zagg on the body part of my devices, it seemed to "sticky" for the screen for me. I generally like the Zagg shield. I've had one on the body of my Archos A5IT for over a year. I might try it on the Acer screen.
edit: oh... and just realize you have time to play with it for the first few minutes to get everything smoothed out and a lot of the tiny bubbles will disappear as it sets, but after you get it set, you can't take it off and reposition it the next day.
Went ahead and slapped it on. Yea, I took a moment to align the camera hole and then squeegeed it on. A couple of microbubbles, but they state that will disappear as it cures.
Now to poke around on my gtab while this thing cures.
Curing is for sissies.
Just installed mine... it's in the case and I'm typing away!

Cuts glare dramatically, fingerprints greatly reduced. I think the display quality is marginally subdued. Make sure you put it on correctly and get the bubbles out - the wetter the better.

I bought my tab at a full best buy store.. they did not have screen protectors.. Not even the tab on display.
I took it into a best buy mobile site and paid the 31 bux for the screen protector, but I went ahead and paid them 14.99 to install it.. I figured, what the hell, I just paid 480 for it (after tax), so another 45 bux is worth it.
took only about 1 day for it to fully cure and the last little micro line to come out. other than it is a little tactile orange peel feel to it (all zaggs have this), and your finger may drag a little, it is well worth it.
Let the finger prints get on the shield and not your screen.. just wipe them off.
I love the tablet!
I'm loving it, it might be a bit better glarewise, but not much. The big thing for me is I don't feel like I'm touching my filthy fingers on a pristine piece of virgin glass anymore. I don't have to wash my hands every 30m of tablet use.
I never got a protector for my Viewsonic Gtablet and never got a scratch. Same usage patterns with the A500 and I got a small scratch 3 days in. Returned it to best buy for an exchange and got the protector this time. Dunno if the crystal is different in the 2 models or I just got unlucky with the A500, but there you go.
I use it on all of my devices.

I really like the protector, but, it can be a fingerprint magnet, but it wipes off easy enough.

I thought I read that the A500 has Corning Gorilla Glass. Does that mean it's less likely to break, but still susceptible to scratching?

it's actually the other way around.
It will break easier than it should scratch.
Gorilla Glass shatters like crazy if you drop somethign on it (i saw it happen).
Day to day scratches should not happen. I don't want to test that theory, mind you.
I don't have a protector on it yet, not sure if i will.
The feel of naked glass is just sooo pleasing.
This thing has such a great display, I don't want to subdue it at all with a screen protector. My phone has gorilla glass as well, and I've dropped that from 3 feet onto concrete multiple times (on accident), and the display is still flawless, so I am confident I won't get any scratches on this.

Zagg protectors are different depending on which device they are used.
The protector for the A500 feels pretty rubbery and is very "orange peel-y" whereas the Zagg on my wife's iPad is a lot smoother in both respects. It's so much easier to glide your finger over the Zagg on the iPad than it is on the A500, I might replace the A500 one with one from the iPad!
Both protectors produce a light shimmery effect and definitely reduce the wow factor on both screens so that's a disappointment but they both greatly reduce glare and fingerprints which is a big plus.
Unfortunately, it's a set of compromises you have to accept when using them.
If you have a screen protector can you please post which one? Please include a description of it, does it help with glare, fingerprints, and any sacrifice in display quailty? How much you pay and a link if not bought at a retail store.
I know people have them, but not much commented on how they are once installed. Thanks.

I've ordered some from the company before and they are good to deal with. I think they also have a lifetime guarantee if you register your protector on their site.
Using GadgetShieldz
I've just ordered Gadegetshieldz, they don't make it for the A500 yet, but you can use the "DIY" version and trim it to fit before applying it. I've used their products for almost all my phones, I prefer it over Zaggs or Skinomi stuff.

It'll take about 1.5 weeks to arrive (since it's a India company - oversea mail), but it's cheap and does the job. In fact, i have one for my iPad (1st gen) and I like it a lot.

I got this one too. It's surprisingly easy to apply.
Attached is a photo I took with the front cam of my Iconia. There's an unprotected gap at the edge of the front where you still can see the reflection from the windows.
I bought the Zagg directly from their site. Installed it just a few minutes ago. Pain in the rear to get it lined up and laid down. I'm interested in seeing how well it calms down over the next couple of days. I installed one on my sons Ipod as a dry application and granted even though it's much smaller it was way easier to handle and install than this wet application was. I will reserve judgement for a few days and see how it turns out.
Xoom Protectors
I bought a pack of 3 from the Verizon store for $24.95 - they go on easily and although they don't cover the bezel, they do cover the entire screen area with about 1/8" over all around. Nice protector and very durable.
ZAGG Invisible Shield
I've been using ZAGG Invisible shields for quite a long time.. Most are pretty easy to install. With the exception of this one.. Took a few tries but I got it on there. One of the best things I can tell you about them is that if anything goes wrong with them. They give you a lifetime replacement warranty. Just make sure you register the product and you are covered.. So what I like is that they stand by their product.
Just in case you are interested about that tidbit.
Zagg Shield
Very disappointed with the Zagg shield. a real bit** to install and I hate the way it feels. The drag on your fingers is definitely there. I should have realized I wouldn't like it because I had one for my Omnia phone and I ended up taking it off of that as well.
I really liked the Zagg body glove on my wife's phone but hers is not a touch screen.
Oh well, live and learn.
I had the Zagg shield put on the Acer A500 and I like the feel of it. Easy to clean and seems to reduce some glare.
I paid Best Buy $15 to put it on. Best decision.
I watched the BB person apply the shield. The process took about 20 minutes, and she got it right the first time.
After watching, I am convinced that I would have messed it up.
The stylus is useless with the the zagg cover right?
Am I the only one that feels kind of strange when I am using other non curved phones now, they are too "flat".
I may not go that far, but I certainly do appreciate it.

Just got my Nexus S this afternoon, and after having the EVO for over a year I can definitely say that the curves of the Nexus are very nice. I do have to get used to how slippery it feels, though; it keeps wanting to slide out of my hand.
I suggest getting a decent case for it.
I got the case-mate pop!. While it certainly adds some bulk, it effectively takes care of any tendencies to slip out of your hand - and adds a layer of protection, should it happen anyways. Oh, and definitely get a quality screen protector. This isn't gorilla glass. No idea how it happened, but I got a small but ugly scratch in my screen before I put one on. Bothers me from time to time.
There's a TPU soft shell case I got from BestBuy, seriously slim and so form fitting. It's their Rocketfish brand and well worth it.

Ewww. Don't do that.
http://www.rearthusa.com/Nexus-S-_p_160.html $16.99 and the quality is probably better. I received a review product from these guys and if a bulky case such as CM Pop doesn't fit you. Get the Ringke case, it's definitely worth it. A lot of review videos / threads are on this if you want to learn more about it.
CM Pop.. my only complaint is how hard it is to take the case off. One day I accidently broke the case (not really breaking it but cracked it in the back) because it was so difficult to take off. So now there is a line on the back of that case.

I use it exactly because there is a ghost armor stand at the mall.
No orange peel. I haven't used other wet applies, but I don't think it feels rubbery. It is not edge to edge, the curved edges are left uncovered and even the back piece is a little small. I have the official bumper with it and the ghost armor works perfectly, the bumper actually does not even touch the front and back pieces. I have the full covering around the edges as well, which obviously does get covered.
Hope that helps.

I just got a full body Ghost Armor for my N4 and I was surprised by 2 things:
1) It isn't edge to edge which I found odd because it was a wet apply.
2) Normally, I would not even look at a screen protector if it wasn't edge to edge but oddly, this protector isn't even noticeable that it isn't edge to edge. The way the N4's screen curves on its sides is so pronounced that you won't be able to see the edges of the screen protector. I've seen some other non-edge to edge protectors (SGP for example) and it looks terrible with such a "small" protector but this one seems to be oddly fine. I can't explain why this one looks fine (it's not as if they use some kind of special material or something), but I have no problems with it at all and as a bonus, it won't lift up because of any cases. Best of both worlds I'd say and I'm pretty satisfied.
I also got them to throw on a matte back protector which I think will go well with the official bumper if that ever comes back into stock. I was going to get a clear back as well but they ran out and offered me a matte back which I took. Think it was a good decision as the back will feel more solid with it than a smudgy and fingerprinty clear back.
They also put on some side protectors for the sides of the phone which I don't really like. Most likely going to rip them off, but might keep them as I will be using a case anyways and would make no difference.
Pretty satisfied overall. A little pricey at $35 for a full body kit + installation but I have always hated applying screen protectors by myself. Throw in the lifetime warranty and it's fair value I'd say.
Thanks for the replies. One last question. Does the clear one repel fingerprints well? If not how would you compare the matte one to the clear one as far as clarity is concerned?

You can order it and install it yourself and save 5$ from the installation fee. It is really easy to install yourself, although it takes a little while to cure, being a wet-apply screen protector. Personally I also don't really trust the stand at the mall near where I live, as I let the guy there do it once, and he did it quite poorly (left dust and many bubbles underneath, and actually didn't line up the cutouts right). I ended up redoing it myself ( I feel like reiterating that it is the easiest screen protector installation I have ever done). However, this is just my experience with the people at my mall, YMMV.

I've generally had good experience with the stand at my mall, specifically with one guy who even when hungover (he told me) still did a great job. I've certainly had better treatment with Apple devices though, they go through so many iPhones/iPods each day that they can do it in there sleep and I find they have more difficulty with less popular, or, in this case, new devices like the Nexus 4.
With the Nexus 4 I'm a little dissatisfied with some of the application. The sides in particular, but for some reason the guy had trouble with the backing as well and there is a few air bubbles that have been bugging me. I've been considering redoing it myself, but as I've always had them do it I don't have the materials.
Do you know what I could use to reapply it at home?

I found that many of the tiny speck-like air bubbles actually dissappear by themselves after a few days, the larger ones you can sort of "push out" with your finger.
If you choose to install it yourself, they give you all the supplies you need, including a new screen protector, covered under the warranty. However, the mall stand I go to asks that you bring in your old screen protector if you peeled it off, so hang on to it.

I've never been given all the supplies before, as they do the install there and then I'm on my way. I've gone back and got them to reapply a few times previously with a few other devices, but I felt like I might just try it myself this time.
I realize most of the bubbles disappear, but it's already been over a week and there are a number of them left including one large one that I knew from the beginning would never go away on its own.

However, as I'm in the UK its not available to me. I've searched everywhere for it, they just dont sell it here at-all.
In desperation I turned to a friend who lives in the US, and asked him if he could order it to him first, then ship it to me.
So, my question to you Skinomi owners:
What are the dimensions of the box the screen protector comes in? I know the shipping weight (3.8 oz), but the dimensions are no-where to be found on the web. I've looked on the USPS website for shipping rates to the UK, and if it can fit in a "large" envelope and weighs 3.8 oz, then I'm only paying $4 for shipping, which is good. But if it cant, I'm looking at $70+ just for shipping :S
Description of the large envelope:
Other than rolls: Max. length 24", max length, height and depth (thickness) combined 36"
Rolls: Max. length 36". Max length and twice the diameter combined 42"
Help please?
Edit, for mods;
The question when posting this thread was "Is this a question?"
Though this is a question, its not directly linked to a Q&A of a nexus 4, thus not wanting to be posting a accessories question in the nexus Q&A, I posted here. Sorry if I'm wrong, feel free to move the thread as you wish mods. :good:
I've still got my box, even though I don't use the Skinomi anymore (ended up with a Spigen). Here you go.
4 3/8" x 7 1/8" x 1"
Approximately.
Why you don't order this from eBay or directly from Skinomi website??

I just got it from eBay, thanks for the idea - its still shipping from the US but I only paid $9 for postage with an estimate of 12 days :good:
I bought a tech skin for my phone and tablet from amazon.com. you can have an account with a UK address. It was cheaper from skinomi on Amazon than through there own site. Also only took around 4 days to arrive. I think in total it was $20 or so delivered to the UK.

I have one on the way. I'm excited to get it and be able to protect my screen. I hope it is as good as they say.

I got mine 5 days ago from CA (I'm in the UK), the protector does feel good (not too rubbery), though it doesn't have a high quality finish as MediaDevil has, plus it does peal with my BALLISTIC case, I did get around this with six 1mm sellotape rectangles, their barley visible, and they keep the protector from pealing on the edges. Overall an alright product, I definitely overpaid, but with lifetime warranty, I might make a clam soon.
I used Skinomi on my HTC Sensation before I discovered Best Skins Ever, BSE are much better - they're much less resistive to touch (feel almost like glass) and they do a case optimised version which leaves a small gap around the edges so cases/bumpers won't lift the protector, or a full version which fits to the edges.
I do like the packaging of Skinomi and the premium cloth and squeegee it comes with though.
Mines come tomorrow and I'll leave a comment on its quality, etc.
I hope my seidio case comes too.
Pros: Self-healing that actually works..
Cons: Everything else.
Think I might just go with "Just like glass"
Mine came in today but I'm waiting to install it till tomorrow night. Gotta work tomorrow
So I installed it and it's okay. I'm keeping it because I paid fifteen bucks for it and I don't want to run rawdog without one. I have never liked screen protectors. My gnex had one on it when I bought it and I couldn't stand it. I ended up removing it. It was a zagg I think.
I think I'll buy one of the tempered ones soon.
Just not all that impressed.

Well after my Skinomi needs replacing that is... Seems like never, it just keeps healing itself. Heh
They sent me an extra for doing a review on Amazon. Pretty good of them.

Keep your fingers wet. Do it in a hot steamy bathroom to minimize dust.
Follow the included instructions.
I've got one of these. Imo, they are easier to apply than other dry application screen protectors I've purchased in the past. And come with a neat microfiber cloth. I also enjoy the textured protector for the back of the device. It came with pieces to cover the sides, top, and bottom too but those weren't so simple to make use of unfortunately.

Wow thanks, that's a great idea. I'll be utilizing that when I replace the one I've got on there now.

Just get a BSE, they're cheaper, better and deliver to the UK. Trust me, I've tried pretty much every wet apply screen protector there is over the past couple of years
This screen protector is a total pos! It is constantly peeling off. & stretching
Back side does not stay sticky
Also every where my case is touching it. It had faded to a matte finish.
I would try to get some pics later today.
I think I will stick with Zagg.
