I was so anxious about dropping\scratching my phone that I bought this huge case from amazon and now I've realized....Using a case just ****ing ruins this phone, it literally becomes a working brick (literally) also its well known that its probably the thinnest phone around, i mean forget the case yo. Anyone else agree?

I agree.
I have had an Evo, and an Evo 3D previously. Both of which I never used a cover/case on.
Then I got a small clip on case for my GSIII, but really dislike the bulkiness that it adds to the phone. I keep toying around with it, taking the case off, then putting it back on. I really am thinking of going caseless. But I do need to find a good screen protector. If I decided to do that.
I'm still debating, every time I buy cases I end up taking it off with in a few days...I already got a screen protector and I think that's all I need.

That Flip case, doesn't look like it'll protect anything if the phone was dropped.
I need a kickstand, need it. So I have a Case-Mate Pop!. It does make it brick-like when I have the phone in it.
I really really want a case cuz I'm scared to drop it. And my hands get oily and it starts slipping lmao. But then again, a case will cover up its sexiness

You don't have to get a giant otterbox, I have a tpu case and I think the little extra size to the phone is perfect and you get a little more protection from dropping.

Yeah TPU cases are good. Not really big but do give some protection. I'm looking at one of these: www.cruzerlite.com
Should be some Youtube reviews also.
Don't buy the white d30 open button case, gets dirty crazy fast, and cleaning it removes the white finish

I ended up buying one even though I don't like em because the phone seems a bit slippery to me and want to avoid dropping it.
Either way, the tpu case I bought isn't that bulky so I'm ok with it.
Powered by the SGSIII
I didn't want a case
But then I got the phone and now i'm afraid i'm going to drop it so I bought a slim TPU case and a slim TPU bumper. I may rock it without a case every now and then because this phone feels and looks great.
no case brah.
i got a free one to protect it until i get one of these

This is my solution to the whole thing. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1645709 It focuses more on the screen protection than the case itself, so I'll sum it up here too.
I have found XO skin to be the best pick of wet install protection. Their skins cover any device so perfectly edge to edge that they virtually disappear. Other companies like ZAGG say they have "features" like the "orange peel effect", and that due to the fact that the Galaxy Nexus has a curved screen the shield needs to be smaller to accommodate this and there's nothing they can do. It's bull. They look like crap and it's their way of trying to hide that. XO has a full body protection option that when installed properly offers complete protection from every day nicks dings and short distance fumbles (all you can ask for from a case) that you almost forget is there. And when you do remember you show it off to people, instead of shoving your ZAGG covered phone back in your pocket in embarrassment. It still has a slight rubbery feel under hot heavy use (no innuendo intended), so I put a brand new new cheepo throw away plastic screen protector over it every couple of weeks to solve all my issues. (trust me when I say the XO Skin is completely unnoticeable underneath it. It does NOT look like you have two screen protectors on. Many people didn't believe me) I have been case free for 2 months without a care in the world about it, and my phone still looks wonderful.

I need a case. My hands are small so when I try to reach with my thumb across the screen, the base of my thumb will usually barely touch the screen causing chaos with the touchscreen. Case with raised sides that protect the screen some when dropped keep my thumb from hitting the touchscreen on the sides.
I picked up a otterbox commuter a few days ago it's was a pain to get the phone in and is a bit big but I am happy with the case and screen protector as accidents happen and it's better to protect the phone then pay $600 to replace it.

Thats the point. It replaces the battery cover and adds protection to the screen. Sure it prolly wouldn't be that great for the back but you would have an extra back cover.

Is it worth the £16 in the uk? looks like just a bit of plastic to me, or is it more?
what cases do you guys recommend, i loved the casemate i had on my s2 had shockproof without to thick + had indents so phone screen didnt touch the table ect
To be honest? Not at all. But its a luxury item I suppose. If you got the extra cash, then its a good buy.

I have the official bumper on my N4 and it's quite nice. Buttons are nice and clicky and ports are all easily accessible. It's just a piece of rubber(?) with silver-colored plastic around the border, I think, but it's very attractive in design and fits the phone perfectly. Just be careful when you're putting it on if your N4 has front and back screen protectors. It has a habit of lifting the corners of my screen protector if I'm not paying attention while putting it on. It's a very minimalist case, obviously, but it's just thick enough to keep the screen/camera lens from touching anything, should you rest the phone on a flat surface.
I haven't dropped my phone to know whether it will keep it safe or not, but it's probably on part with any other slim/minimalist case.
It's more like £22 after you include postage.
I wouldn't mind so much but I didn't like the bumper at all. It made the phone too big and uncomfortable to hold.

If you want a bumper like the nexus 4 one you can buy this one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Shenit-Bump...SY0K/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1359591734&sr=8-1
Its cheaper and its an exact replica it also has free shipping.
I personally didn't like the bumper. It's a very nice looking bumper but I hated the bulky feel of it. If it was much slimer it would have been my favorite case.

I've some bad news for you about the poetic bumper. It will come apart at the seems within a month. The glue between the rubber and the plastic began to separate after a week of handling. After 3 it was completely loose 90 percent of the way around. That's what you get for saving a little money.

You get a free replacement. Jesus.. people making a big deal out of nothing.
They send u free replacement, no questions asked. The company is at a loss replacing bumpers. Give them some respect for at least trying to make it right by having good customer support.
IMO, nothing special
I ordered one of the bumper cases and got it way back in December, and personally I didn't think it was anything special (in fact, I vastly preferred the feel of the phone without it, as the bumper rises slightly above the edge of the screen so you can no longer feel the angled glass around the sides of the phone).
So I auctioned it on eBay and someone bought it for just over £50, so I can't exactly complain

Wow! Do you not know how to read? It was stated that the new ones are improved/revised. It's a simple adhesive issue, I emailed the seller and he replied that all the units being shipped are the new ones without any issues
You're acting as if a bad transmission was designed for a new car and there are already thousands and thousands sold. It's not rocket science to fix the adhesive issue.
And for me, it's not about saving "a few dollars", I'd prefer the Google one accept I recently moved to Canada and my American credit cards don't work with buying anything at the Canadian Play Store (other than apps). My gf ordered the N4 for me as my birthday gift. As it's already a very pricey gift, I didn't want her spending any more so I told her not to buy the bumper.

the bumper doesn't make the phone much thicker. That isn't the issue. The issue is how wide the phone feels with the bumper on. It definitely is not a slim bumper in comparison to poetic's.
That's why it's called a bumper, bumper is for bumping meaning protection on impact. The thicker the better the protection, the slimmer the lesser of protection, simple like that, so stop whining and complaining if you do not understand the meaning of the words. Plus people with bigger hands will feel it comfortable and ppl with small hands most probably wouldn't like it, but that's all personal, as far as quality is concern that's the best offer on the market today regarding BUMPERS.

There's a post in the other thread that the so called "solution" did not always fix the problem, and frankly I find it hard to believe it's just about the glue. There's just not enough contact area between the rubber and the hard plastic. It's a design issue.
As for the free replacement. it's still annoying having to get one in the first place. Don't they test drive their own products?

Exactly like you said, everyone has different opinion upon the thickness of the bumper. We are all just chipping in our own views.
Hi, I've had the nexus for two days now and yesterday I dropped it from about two feet to the kitchen floor. Nothing happened to the phone. The floor is sort of like plastic? I'm not sure what kitchen floors are made of. Anyway, this is my first glass phone and I'm very paranoid that I may crack it someday. I've seen what happens if you drop a glass phone, i.e iPhone and nexus and its scary. My previous phone; I never dropped it once (at least that I can recall), but this phone is a lot slimmer and easier to slip from the hand.
I primarily ask because I'm one of those people who would rather have a 'naked' phone. I feel like it shows the true beauty of phones, but I also don't want to have a shattered phone
I also take good care of my phones. But you never know what can happen.

Absolutely man, buy a good case and a screen cover. Its worth the extra 30 or 40$.
I use a pouch case (the shocksock leather one, looks very nice on the phone) which protects the entire phone when it's in my pocket but allows me to use it without a case or screen protector. Worked for me for two years with my HD2 (not a single scratch or dent apart from once when my friend dropped it when using it) and hopefully it should work for me with this phone too.

Tmobile store now has the hard body glove case and the silicon case. I got the hard case and it is great did not noticibly change the weight or size of the phone like a lot of cases
I bought the Acase Superleggera Pro from Amazon for $15 and have had it for a few days. I can finally rest easy about dropping it since it has the hard shell on the outside with the silicone layer on the inside almost like an Otterbox (2 stage case). All port cutouts are precise and buttons are easy to press. I've owned 2 other cases and both seemed to offer little protection for it. I just hope I never have to test it lol.
I'm just like you: anxious and not liking cases and I definitely advise you to use one. I bought a 3$ TPU case and it protects the phone well plus it makes it less slippery.

Using the official bumper + skinomi screen protector. Works very well for me. Dropped the phone once, ~1meter fall (from my pocket) on wooden floor, the bumper definitely saved it.
Take a case and a 2 protectors(face and bottom) to protect the phone from scratches. Both cost about 10 €
I use them since the first day and everything is fine for me. It saved my phone more than once.
Bought a Cruzerlite android army case. Fits really well, looks good, and the TPU material is soft and protective.

Ringke SLIM for day to day. Ionic Guardian (got it when it was $4) for outdoor stuff.
Naked is awesome, but not safe
Being that the phone is made out of aluminum you would think it won't break as easy as any plastic phone.
I'm considering going without a case due the fact that a case just takes away all the beauty of the phone.
Anybody else doing the same?

A lot of people buy phones then resell them to get the next big thing. You drop the phone, the resale value plummets.
You don't have to get a dam otter box and cover it up. Just a clear case would do, or any of those skin protectors.
But hey, if your super duper careful go case less. Just trying to save people from the drop of doom.
But nvm, I had to reread the op, you already made up your mind going case less. GL

Could care less about resale value, I bought it to use it and enjoy it, and in the case of the One (and One X), how they felt in my hand and how they looked had more to do with my decision to buy them as the hardware specs.
I've got a drawer full of old phones, I don't resell anything, though I might give one away or loan one out.
I drop it and break it, oh well, I'll get another one. I put a blemish on it, oh well, I live with it.
Scratches on the camera lens are no big deal either, it's a cell phone camera, it looks like crap to varying degrees even when it's un-scratched.

My One X is in pretty good shape, no protection. I have a scratch on the glass that was clearly from a diamond ring. Other than that there is miniscule damage in one place on the metal strip around the screen.
The SIM tray looks atrocious, but protection wouldn't help with that since I use it; it appears to be made of some kind of soft cheese. A new one is less than a fiver.

I got the case you are considering but it has yet to arrive in the post which is annoying as i won't take my N4 outside without some sort of case.
Will let you know once i get it which should hopefully be later today or tomorrow.
There is no case that won't compromise its looks, simple as that. Even with the Ringke Fusion.. sure, you can see the back, but through plastic. And the rest is still TPU.. and in reality it doesn't look as flawless and nice as in the renders. There's always a compromise.
You could go for more minimalistic cases such as the quicksand ones. I'm currently using one of them and I really like its look and feel because it doesn't change it as much (I also have a diztronic tpu case which I'll only be using for when I expect rougher conditions, e.g. travel, hiking or whatever). But it comes at the cost of less protection for the device.
It's a matter of what you prioritize and what risks you're willing to take for better look and feel.

that is one ugly cheap case...
It's certainly cheap, but I much prefer it to my diztronic tpu case (http://tpu-cases.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=46_76&products_id=303). The material feels very nice and not plastic-y (a bit like jeans, I'd say) and it hardly adds any bulk, which tpu cases do. I also really dislike the shiny border around the edge most tpu cases have, cause that does look pretty cheap.
I personally ordered it cause I was looking for a different case and this one seemed like a very low-risk option, and I ended up liking it a lot. Your mileage may vary, obviously.

that is one ugly cheap case...

I had a similar type case on my nexus for a few months and it was great. Had a really great feel to it and it actually looks pretty darn sharp when it's on the phone. Doesn't look cheap at all. :good:
thanks, but I think I'll stick with the Ringke Fusion case. I like the clear back.
U can't go wrong with the oem bumper. It offers protection on all edges and prevents both front and back from laying directly on surfaces. I've had it on my white N4 since purchase and i don't have a scratch. Not to mention I am constantly subject to compliments and questions peeked by its sexy appearance.

I am always partial to the Ringke slim cases. I've had them on my last few phones

I personally would go with bumper case and maybe add a screen protector on both sides (something like Ghost Armor or Zagg or dBrand skin if you want to go a bit more expensive, OR just get something like XtremeGuard for the back for a cheap alternative - XtremeGuard costs me about $2 for front and back  )

For me and is what I use.
I reallu glad with bumper case from poetic.
Your phone keep with the original look protected, if you want a litle more prtection 2 skins one on the back and other on the front.
Box Wave Bamboo case! Only case I have kept on a phone longer than a week! Now going for two months.

Ringke Slim or Poetic Pallete case.
Hands down two best slim cases. (My opinion lol)

Ditto. Unless you're extraordinarily clumsy, the OEM bumper should provide plenty of protection. I've had my Nexus 4 with bumper since December of last year and it has survived many drops. It's even survived a drop onto concrete, complete with a few bounces, with no scratch. The crack that my Nexus 4 has came from when I took the case off momentarily and then it dropped about a foot and a half onto the soft part of an open binder. >_<
OEM bumper + front and back clear skins. Everything else is hideous.
Currently using the Incipio Feather, but I have to admit that the N4 pretty much only looks good caseless.
Tried the official bumper, but it just didn't stick either.

Exactly. Coming from a person who has never liked or had cases on their devices - I just got the OEM bumper in the mail yesterday, and I'm stunned at how good it looks. It actually makes the phone look nicer with the aluminium accents, and protects it rather well.
What do you suggest?
Alright so I'm a little late to the Nexus 4 party, but after much delay, I finally decided to upgrade from my archaic Vibrant and order a shiny new N4. Although it hasn't come in just yet, I was interested to know what cases you guys might suggest. You see here's my dilemma... I know for a fact that the Ringke Slim and other like cases are a major no-no for me. They offer too little protection and from what I've heard, leave the very top and bottom of the device exposed. I would get the OEM bumper as it's very attractive, but I've read many, many, many reviews that note its fragility--specifically around the USB port, which apparently is prone to cracking. I'm also considering the Ringke Fusion as it seems to be a popular choice, or the possibility of going with a wallet style case, as I won't need a screen protector then.
However I'm very torn, as there are so many options and so many drawbacks...
What do you guys think? Is the OEM bumper really all that fragile? Does it break as a result of removing the phone from it or does it crack completely on its own? Should I not even consider the OEM bumper case and go with something much more durable (i.e. the Ringke Fusion, wallet case)? Should I just go naked!?!? (referring to the phone of course )
Thanks in advance! Looking forward to hearing some feedback!
