I am rooted and knox tripped.
I see all these posts about people not wanting to or ready to trip knox. What's the big deal about it? Warranty related only? I take good care of my phone and have never needed to take it in for service. Just being rooted allowed me to resolve any issue myself.
Also I see knox programs in android apps. Why does it have apps and what do they control.
Go to the search bar and put your question in. I have seen many threads throughout XDA explaining what knox is. The search bar is your friend and a powerful tool to use

Knox, why did I do this?
Just installed it, and now don't want it,I don't have root, the reason why I want to get rid of it is I'm sure it will use up something in the background, it's there a way of just having it like I had it before, not installed?I know it's on the phone,
Please help guys.
Thanks

Knox is very simple to remove.
When in the Knox area, tap on the left capacitive 'menu' key, then select KNOX SETTINGS, then select ABOUT KNOX, then select UNINSTALL.

I am not an Android tech expert. But, remember reading about it awhile back. It now has an enforced mode instead of just the permissive. Not sure if that just started in KitKat or not. In layman terms, I think it just does a better job at keeping apps from getting unwanted root access. I don't know if that means some apps may not work right. As far as needing to set it to one or the other, not sure. If you got a nandroid, you can always try it out--

As he said above me, just basically does a better job of keeping root apps out. For example, on the new NC1 update we got root with towelroot and Root Checker saw it, but we couldn't install Safestrap with SELinux on Enforcing. So it's just extra security from modifications, which of course gets in the way of intentional root mods.
Hello guys,
I'm newbie to this, I've just bought a Galaxy Tab 4 7.0 and I wanna save its battery life, I read and heard much about Greenify app that helps a lot in saving battery whether you have premium phone or a tablet.
I need to know how can I install this app in my tab 4 and how to hibernate all the apps.
Also tell me how to hibernate system apps.
Moreover, I also read that it may brick your phone, I'm afraid about my Tablet, its in warranty and it it get bricked, what I'd do?
So, it was obsession to post a thread on xda and ask them first.
I hope I will helped here as nobody has ever deprived here.
Thanks.
1) Root
2) Go to Play Store and install Greenify.
In general Greenify won't void your warranty or damage your device but rooting does. You can choose which apps to greenify.

Hey all I am thinking it is probably worth using an Antivirus program. I have stayed away up and to this point because I am rooted and running xposed framework so I thought it may interfere. Wanted to get some thoughts from the community. Thanks in advance.

Most people will say no from what I've read.

I have malwarebytes installed, but I only use it when I think I may have something malicious on the phone, otherwise I have the app not running.
I use Advast. I have it on my computer and phone. I don't remember it saying it has caught stuff on my phone but I usually don't download anything sketchy either. It has a find your phone thing with it. I have had really good experiences with Advast and it doesn't seem to effect my battery all that much either. I still get great battery life. I am not rooted though so I have no idea if it will interfere but I know it has a feature if you are rooted to make it so it can't be uninstalled however so I would assume you would be fine.
Like a few posts above, if I want to scan a possibly sketchy apk I will use malwarebytes. I do the same on my PC, since I do very little downloading, I don't want a large software hogging my CPU so I run scheduled scans now and then. If you want the peace of mind, go for it
It's fundamental Linux, and I don't load anything I don't get here, so I don't worry about it.
Hey guys..
I just got an ad on my note 4 in the pull-down tray that says if I install knox I can be eligible to win a note 4? Only thing is I'm running firekat v4, so there is no knox to be found...
...is anybody else experiencing Samsung advertisements on their devices? Please don't tell me they're going to start using the notification pull-down tray as a platform to start advertising Samsung products..
Negative man. Has to be a bogus push ad from an app you installed.
Sent from my SM-N910T using Tapatalk
I received it as well.
My bet is you got some spam on your phone. No way Samsung would push that out the phone comes with Knox installed.

Lol... You should stop downloading sketchy apps because they will NEVER push messages like that.
a third party dodgy app wouldn't make much sense. the ad was way too targeted to be a third party app. it knew i had a note 4 and i didnt have knox installed. what 3rd party ad app would be that specific? Plus I have adblock on the phone since day 1.
I'm 99% sure the ad (or "promo" or whatever) came from samsung. I'm assuming its from their galaxy store. It looked too professional to be a third party ad. The ad was a big, bright image of the note 4 and note edge, and the link took you directly to samsungs website without a referral number at the end.
@ShrekOpher knox isnt installed by default, the installer apk is baked into touchwiz. Knox creates a virtual partition in your sd card to store secure apps. If you don't want that (like 90% of people) you would be losing space on the sd card for no reason. You have to run knox for it to go through setup.
I'm running fire kat too, I'm pretty sure it's due to Samsung push services still being present in this ROM.

I got the same... Just don't install it..

im on fkv4 as well. No knox adds though and i stillhave samsung push service installed. I did do debloating on side though.
I got the same ad yesterday but I believe it was pushed by T-Mobile.
Well i aint running yalls rom, and i didn't receive it lol.
frankly even if it was samsung, it make no sense. why make such an advertisement on a phone the user already have
I have received this, a coworker on an S4 has as well.

can someone screen capture it it ? im curious
It is probably the Samsung app store, I'll try to take a screen shot if it comes up again, then freeze or remove it and see if is the culprit.

My wife got it too on her s5 she's unrooted
I recieved it yesterday, its from samsung push .. debloat that trasha waway
If you long press on the ad and click on "App Info" it should tell you exactly which app is sending you those notifications. If it's an app you actually use you can just hit disable notifications from there and you won't be bothered any more.
The app is an app that separates your phone from your work phone of you use your phone from work the app is on the play store
The question here is not what Knox is, but where the advertisement for it is coming from.
