my acer iconia a500 is not yet rooted and in its official stock rom
please give me a solution... :crying::crying:
This will wipe all your data and files but it might get you back to booting up. If you have an external SD card in it, I would remove it first.
Read the warning when video comes on.
Good luck.

This is probably the safiest thing you could do and best. This method has fixed sudden bootloops on htc and samusng devices. In case you dont succseed if you have any idea about your rom build download official package from blackthunders thread -rename to update.zip - move to sd card - flash from stock recovery
sent from sgs3 -stock 4.3 open europe rom

Hello xda-devs,
my a500s mic is broken and i want to go for a RMA. I think i have to flash a stock-rom because i'm using HoneyVillain 1.2 A500_A501 18-09 (a great customRom btw!!!) with the Villain_iconia_kernel_2.5 and Acer woun't like that (or not?). I just want to be sure the device is 100% like Acer want it to be for a RMA. I have all the backups befor flashing Honeyvillain and i know were to find the Stock-Fullpackages or -Updates from Acer.
But there are some Questions that bother me:
1) if i flash a Stock 3.0.1 Backup made with Clockworkmod or a downloaded Stock 3.2, could there be any Problems with the custom Villain Iconia 2.5 Kernel? Or will it be overwritten by the Backup files anyway?
2) is Clockworkmod removed if i flash back to stock?
3) i will wipe all data, flash Stock, ... any thing else i have to worry about?
Stock kernal must be restored, not part of rom.
Correct, wipe all.
Then restore stock recovery using acer recovery from the market.
Or run 15k volts to the docking station port.
Thanks shaun298!
So here is what i've done to go back to Stock:
1) Loaded a Full HC 3.1 Rom (Acer_A500_4.010.40_COM_GEN1), HC 3.1 Kernel, Acer Update Decrypter and iconiaroot-1.3.apk
2) Decrypted the Rom, unpacked the update.zip and put it with the acerkernel31.zip on my external SD card.
3) Pluged in my charger (you woun't run out of battery if you flash )
4) Made a FULL BACKUP with ClockworkMod to flash my repaired/new A500 later.
5) wiped data/cache/dalvik cache and battery stats
6) flashed the kernel with acerkernel31.zip
7) flashed HC 3.1 with the update.zip
8) rebooted. This took a while... set-up language and gmail-account
9) loaded a Explorer from Marked, installed the iconiaroot-1.3.apk (don't forget the unknown source option!) and rooted the tablet
10) loaded Acer recovery installer from the market and installed the Stock USA recovery
11) unroot (there was a error message but it worked), uninstalled Explorer, iconiaroot-1.3 and acer recovery installer
12) backup/deleted all old data from internal SD and made a factory reset again
Thats it, did i forget anything? If you still need more Help - go HERE
I've just bought a second hand (like-new) WiFI only Xoom. It was pre-rooted when I bought it. It's running 3.1 and has Clockwork Recovery Mod 4.0.0.4 installed. The issue is it doesn't have access to the SD Card as 3.2 was never installed. Obviously I'd like to access the SD Card but am stuck as to what to do next.
I'm not completely new to rooting (CyanogenMod 7.1 on HTC DHD) but I'm far from an expert. I'm stuck in the loop that to install anything (Tiamat 2.1 etc) I need access to the SD Card but to get access I need to install something (a Kernel maybe?). I've searched for a solution on here but any 'solution' is just so heavy on the detail that it fries my brain. Is there any simple/straightforward method of achieving what I'd like to achieve?........or is there anyone out there who has a clue where I go from here?
If I were you I would flash the original stock rom from here http://developer.motorola.com/products/software/ and then apply the updates. After updating to 3.2 you can then root your xoom using this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1249798.
All you need to do is to install the solarnz CWM recovery R4c v 3.2.0.0 which has been specially developed for the Xoom to access the external sdcard for flashing, nandroid backups, etc. You'll find it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074979
You can also do things in the order DroidVPN suggested, above.
I rooted my Acer just fine. Then I tried installing CWM using some Acer Recovery App on the Market. Then I rebooted into recover to flash a new Rom. It said sdcard not mounted, so I tried to mount it in CWM but it didn't work. Then I tried to reboot but get stuck at the Acer screen. I'm running HC 3.2. Thnks!
Edit:
I managed to fix it. Sorry for wasting everyone's time.
Just in case people have the same problem, what I did was download a rom and put it on a micros, then flashed it.
I've had my a500 for a while now and thought i would have a go at rooting it (currently own a rooted HP TP and a SGS). . .
But obviously im wanting to do all my homework before plunging in (im sure like others, there have been some close calls and tense moments).
Unfortunately the external sd card slot of my A500 doesnt work. . im not sure why, but every time i insert an sd card in it wont "click" in.. it just keeps springing back out. .
anyways, so i've had a look at this post:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276227
and worked out that i can use Method 1 which doesnt require an external sd card. . .this will enable me to get back down to 3.0.1 after which i can run Iconiaroot and then Acer Recovery Installer from the market.
My question is, will not having an external sd card prevent me from anything further? Other than the obvious storage. . .
I'm presuming that after rooting i can transfer a new ROM to the internal sd storage via usb or straight download and flash via CWM?
Yes, latest recovery (1.7.1) from thor supports flashing from internal memory. But in order to update the one that is installed with ACER Recovery Installer from Market (1. 3.4) you still need a sd card or a USB drive. Try if CWM from the market can update itself with the use of a USB drive. If that doesn't work the only other way to install the latest recovery on a rooted tab without sd card would be with ADB and terminal with is not such a big headache after all. Read instructions on tegraowners in the recovery section.
As for the reverting, you can do exactly as you have planned or you can use timmyDean 's method which will flash directly a rooted stock 3.2.1 ROM - haven't tried it myself but seems more elegant He still uses the euu tool but replaced the 3.0.1 image with a rooted stock 3.2.1 which will save you some time and efforts.

cool. .thanks for that. . that's very helpful.
one another question. . .if i did install via the ACER recovery installer, would i not be able to update CWM via ROM Manager? (i.e. without the need for sd card or USB altogether?)
Hey guys,
I am really going crazy with my A500 and I really need help!
I tried to Update my Taboonay to the newest Flexreaper Edition. In the desciption it said that I need to have one of that custom recoverys to use Aroma installer. Because I had CWM with Thor 1.3.4 and 1.7.3 is neccessary I wanted to Update CWM via installing the zip from SD Card. Before installing the zip I accedientially deleted the update.zip from the SD Card. Tried to restart CWM than but it didn't work out and I could not enter CWM. I was stuck on booting recovery kernel image, waited about a minute and than the screen turned dark. Since that point the tablet doesn't start anymore and the tablet does not enter CWM.. What can I do to fix it?
I summarize:
- can't enter CWM
- cant boot the ROM
- deleted update.zip
Thank you in advance

I would guess, you are still running an HC bootloader? You must update your tab to the V8 unlocked bootloader from Skrilax_cz.
