Hello,
I'm trying the whole damn day now to unbrick my N4 after installing the latest CM10.1 nightly. (0907)
- No other ROM on the phone
- No backup
- USB debugging disabled
- Phone doesn't boot further than to the Google logo
- TWRP 2.5.0.0 is installed.
I tried to ADB sideload the 0906 nightly, but sideload is not working with TWRP somehow. It says "Starting ADB sideload" for about 5 minutes, then "Cancelling sideload" and Failed.
What now?
fastboot back to factory images and start from scratch with a working flashable zip of CM (or another ROM of your liking)
I recommend Carbon
Yes, that would work, but this wipes everything and I have some data on my phone I don't want to lose.

Well you said ADB sideload doesnt load so.... have fun with a unbootable phone then.
Just have to take the consequences and learn from your lesson so it doesn't happen again. Sorry :/ either that or figure out ADB sideload and get it to work.

You don`t have to flash userdate.img, (will not loose data), if it doesn`t boot after the flash than you have to do a data factory reset in recovery. Look here for how to flash a factory image https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images.

Yay glad to hear it worked. In the future, try and keep a archived ROM zip that you know works so you can flash back to it incase anything happens.
it worked the adb sideload just loaded like charm
Hi guys,
I unlocked my Bootloader, installed Clockwork Recovery a while back. Still had Vanilla Android on it.
Today I updated it, there was an error shown in the Clockwork recovery during the update, I rebooted the device.
Now I am stuck in the 4.4 Bootscreen.
How can I get a Recovery Image on my Phone now? (Booting in Recovery works without any issues)
When I reset my device is all the data in the sdcard folder gone? If so is there a way to back some of it up now?
Thanks

Its best to do a clean flash and delete all your data. Phone vs Pics? I'd take the phone. Besides, some stuff is backed up by Google servers. Follow this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
You can't update OTA while having cwm. OTA can only be completed using stock recovery or twrp recovery. Cwm haven't had this ability yet. Just follow the guide given in a post above and flash kitkat factory images. All your problems will be solved. Or, you can use this guide ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2527142 ) and delete the -w to save your data.
For your second question, if you factory reset using stock recovery, then yes, it will wipe clean your sd card. If you reset using cwm/twrp, then no, it won't wipe your sd card and your pics, music will all still be intact.

nvm, i figured it out.
I know that a lot of people are having this problem right now but I accidentally the OTA update and now I'm stuck in a recovery bootloop and I can't ADB and I tried doing the install zip with sideload in CWM to flash a TWRP zip because I know that you can fix this from TWRP but ADB wasnt working... I really just don't know what to do now but I have to fix my phone tonight and I would be willing to do a factory reset because I have a backup on my SD card but I am on Ubuntu but I have access to a windows machine if thats what is neccessary. If anyone can point me in the right direction of a fix for this in CWM or how to factory reset with ubuntu that would be incredible. Thank you.
Does your cwm support sideload and if it does try reading through the link below that I posted about my experience of same problem and solution. Now this is for att but don't know if it will work for u. Good luck.

I tried this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142, everything worked as shown except it won't boot to recovery. The only thing it can do is to do download mode. No adb connection on Windows, it connects in Ubuntu terminal because I was able to do the instructions on the link above. But I don't seem to know how to do adb commands within Linux. Is there a way to fix my phone without going back to stock? Thanks!

Do you have a nandroid backup? If so the steps from stock to restoring a nandroid are moot.

Just another question, if I see "Firmware Update---do not unplug the USB connection until the process is complete" on my phone - is that the Download mode or something else? Sorry for this stupid question. that's what Im seeing on the screen when I press up button + power. Thanks

That is download mode, not a stupid question so don't worry.
SOLVED!
After redoing the root guide I found out that I can go to recovery by doing the down+power repeat combo. From there I was able to restore my Nandroid! Thank God! Fixed!!! By the way my phone got bricked by restoring an older dorimanx kernel using flashify app!

how do you root the phone in download mode ? Teach me im kinda stuck myself
@tmoneybird
What recovery did you have?
Have you tried vol down+power buttons combo? This is how it's done: Press and hold the two buttons at the same time till you see the lg logo then release for about two seconds then press the two buttons again at the same time. Then a white screen will show which has in it the instruction to factory reset your phone. It will lead you to recovery mode. If this won't work there is a guide in the General section on how to flash TWRP using Linux Ubuntu http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142. Do this first then repeat the instructions above.

I basically wasn't able to do anything in download mode. The phone has to be off or black screen (on) to at least do some tricks using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142. ADB couldn't detect the phone in Mac/Windows except Linux own Terminal. It's weird. Good thing I have an ISO image of Ubuntu on my PC. It's the only way I got to flash TWRP.
HELP!!! I'm stuck in TWRP and I don't know what to do. I'm stuck in recovery!
Did you click - Reboot - System?

I've done a factory reset, installed a stock img, installed a rom and still I go straight into TWRP. Should I wipe data? System? There has to be something triggering this.
Edit: So I got UPPERCUT to work. Tip, don't plug your phone into a USB hub.. So I was able to install the stock upgrade but after my first boot I got a dead android with error written underneath it. I tried to boot again and luckily the second time worked. It was scary for sure but I will try to root this weekend
