I suppose you could try overclocking the cpu and gpu. U can do it by using kernel enhancement apps such as TricksterMod. You'll also need a custom kernel

Go to the general tab. Scroll to Cpu Frequence Control. Click on the max part. And select a higher value. It shud be 1512000 by default

What is the best ROM and kernel for gaming? I tried purity and faux kernel but it didn't improve gaming by much. Would psx ROM and Franco or faux be good for gaming and playing on high settings on Sam Andreas?

1.9Ghz? Hope you're kidding. Overclocking with too high Mhz can destroy your device (or it will drain battery).
Max. recommended clock: 1500Mhz (1,5Ghz)
Min. recommended clock: 1200Mhz (1,2Ghz)
I ran it at 1.9 for about 2 hours playing GTA with no problems but still a little laggy
Yes It can be possible my last stabile value is 1.7 - 1.8 but i run my play with 1.6

For some people Ram manager helps, but it is a paid application. There might me other similar apps, though.
Lol. Then you can say goodbye to your play in 1-2 yrs. As i said, if you didnt want to **** up je device, use recommended clocks for gaming. Hope youll not be ignorant and read this post, lol.

mine is overclocked to 1.4 ghz, but i sometimes do 1.6 for gaming. i don't recommend 1.9ghz, but i'd laugh if your phone literally melts

For gaming, then sure, but not for long time.

[Q] Gaming performance

How to improve gaming performance on Nexus 7?
Nova 3 multiplayer is pretty laggy,somemore i'm using a m-kernel a11 with 520mhz gpu overclock.
On android 4.1.2,smoothrom 4.1.
try trinity kernel, its a great gaming/performance kernel.

choose your rom wisely, some roms like aokp has heaps of features but it may slow your device down. others like leanrom has less features, but in turn you get very good performance from a much more stripped down system. also, i suggest you do a reboot before loading an extremely intensive game such as GTA Vice City. THD optimised games also improves performance compared to non-optimised games by Lameloft, cough, i mean gameloft
I have my nexus stock unrooted 4.2.1 and haven't had any problems with any games I've tried.

I vouch for Trinity Kernel.
OC to 1.7ghz and 520/600 mhz GPU
Just go stock for games no laggs

[Q] Less perf after overclock

Hello,
I overclocked my cpu to 1944mhz and gpu to 487mhz using fauxclock (i'm rooted with faux kernel)...
But when i benchmark i have lesser scores (1600 on geekbench and 13000 on antutu)...
Can someone explain me why
Thanks

Hi,
Probably, yes. Plus Faux kernel is not the kernel to run benchs. Faux focused on "real" performance on daily use (UI, games) and his kernel is not a kernel for benchs. This is not a critic and I didn't say the other kernels are not optimized for daily use
faux123 said:
Yes, I play games to test my kernels, it's the BEST benchmark of anything, way better than any synthetic benchmarks
I also play NSF, DeadTrigger, Temple Run, AngryBirds and MetalSlug series to check all different aspect of gaming performance. My kernel may not score the highest in synthetic benchmarks, but it does well in real Games and Apps :victory:
........................................
my kernel is very smooth for normal apps and games but does poorly with these artificial apps like benchmarks and stress tests

But you can try another governor or tweaks some governor settings.
Thanks for the answer i noticed higher fps on real racing 3
That mean the kernel isn't good for bench that's it !
Btw is it possible to disable thermal throttling

No. Don't even think about it. Another possibility is that your phone can't handle the 1.9 overclock, hence lagging.

[Q] Asphalt 8 High Graphics?

Since it became free i decided to give it a spin.
I am limited to medium graphics.
I read that you could get high graphics on stock kernel + stock rom, but i dont want to have stock rom.
Im running PA 3.99 + hells-core kernel.
Is it one of these factors that is limiting me to select only medium?:
Also, i can ONLY select medium, not low or very low...
Thanks
Hells core under clocks your CPU. So the game thinks you have a lower end phone. So PA with the built in kernel should be fine.

So i must reflash PA to get the PA kernel back right?
But i like hells-core amazing battery.
Is there no other kernel that can help me?
Or can i OC or clock it back to stock speed? what app can i use for this?
waiting

i didnt use hells core but u can download trickster mod from playstore, change frequencies, and see if mp decision, inteli demand or something like dat is on, if it is turn off and try asphalt

lag?

Why is Nexus lagging with games? like Real Racing 3 and Angry Birds Go?
It should not be you may have too many applications open at one time. Try closing some of them or reset your phone.

I did have that kernel, i liked it! but I've read that its not as fast as stock. Nothing wrong with stock. To be fair, I guess i could've used a better word then lag, it's just not smooth. it stutters
- Undervolt it to reduce heat, and reduce CPU throttling
- Use Ondemand if you play games, Wheatley, Intelliactive and Intellidemand create lag because of battery friendly configs

i've been looking at that kernel. would i use hellcores app to tinker with the settings or?
"[ROOT] Kernel Tweaker" is a good app.
Your cpu is probably throttling and thats why it is not smooth.
This is normal. Recommend upload custom kernel + setting trickster mod.
