Hello,
I overclocked my cpu to 1944mhz and gpu to 487mhz using fauxclock (i'm rooted with faux kernel)...
But when i benchmark i have lesser scores (1600 on geekbench and 13000 on antutu)...
Can someone explain me why
Thanks

Hi,
Probably, yes. Plus Faux kernel is not the kernel to run benchs. Faux focused on "real" performance on daily use (UI, games) and his kernel is not a kernel for benchs. This is not a critic and I didn't say the other kernels are not optimized for daily use

Yes, I play games to test my kernels, it's the BEST benchmark of anything, way better than any synthetic benchmarks
I also play NSF, DeadTrigger, Temple Run, AngryBirds and MetalSlug series to check all different aspect of gaming performance. My kernel may not score the highest in synthetic benchmarks, but it does well in real Games and Apps :victory:

my kernel is very smooth for normal apps and games but does poorly with these artificial apps like benchmarks and stress tests

But you can try another governor or tweaks some governor settings.
Thanks for the answer i noticed higher fps on real racing 3
That mean the kernel isn't good for bench that's it !
Btw is it possible to disable thermal throttling

No. Don't even think about it. Another possibility is that your phone can't handle the 1.9 overclock, hence lagging.

Hey guys, I was wondering if it is possible to overclock the gpu. And if it is, would it really make a noticeable difference?
Sent from my A500 using xda app-developers app
yes its possible, assuming you know what your doing with the kernel. and in my experience, not much. depends on the difference you are looking and what you conciser making a difference, bench scores? game performance? i wouldn't worry about it to much. </opinion>
I like to play games on n64oid. Great app but I feel like my heavily overclocked cpu alone can't handle the more graphically intense games like zelda. I just want to see a little less lag.

I've used a certain rom that had GPU overclock to 400. I noticed no difference. I wouldn't bother IMHO.
How to improve gaming performance on Nexus 7?
Nova 3 multiplayer is pretty laggy,somemore i'm using a m-kernel a11 with 520mhz gpu overclock.
On android 4.1.2,smoothrom 4.1.
try trinity kernel, its a great gaming/performance kernel.

choose your rom wisely, some roms like aokp has heaps of features but it may slow your device down. others like leanrom has less features, but in turn you get very good performance from a much more stripped down system. also, i suggest you do a reboot before loading an extremely intensive game such as GTA Vice City. THD optimised games also improves performance compared to non-optimised games by Lameloft, cough, i mean gameloft
I have my nexus stock unrooted 4.2.1 and haven't had any problems with any games I've tried.

I vouch for Trinity Kernel.
OC to 1.7ghz and 520/600 mhz GPU
Just go stock for games no laggs

I tried out your Set CPU setup and it was kind of bad, because of the lagfree governor,i did some research and i found a thread explaing all governors and lagfree doesn't actually make your phone "Lag free" it saves battery by throttling it down to the minimum clock speed for a simple task but when it needs more juice it will throttle higher providing more performance, but it doesn't work well as i have had regular force closes with apps like FlipBoard, Falcon Pro and messaging (which force closed alot)
Thanks anyways for contributing

I didnt use the lagfree governor is said its lagfree.
The governor i used was Darkside. From the new lupus stock GB/ICS kernel.

Sorry man for the mistake
I will try to read better next time,
I am currently using Doom Kernel so i don't have the darkside governor.
I will try the lupus Kernel maby tomorrow as i need my phone for social purposes right now,
OMG!!!

Awesome stuff man.
I decided to install Lupus Kernel (720p) and I failed so many times because ADB wasn't detecting my phone in fastboot and reason is because i use a mini usb hub (it connects into 1 hub and makes 5 hubs) so adb and fastboot dident have direct conntact with my phone and today i had a strange feeling and pluged it in to main usb port on my pc and it worked like a charm,i flashed lupus and i am enjoying it.
I think it is considerably faster that Doomkernel and smoother AND reliable,i used to get random force closes every now and then but now its super smooth and Touch screen response seems to be 100x better,
I also tried out your setup and shadowgun,Dead trigger(ULTRA GFX setting) and MC4 runs smooth at around 50 FPS
Glad I could help!

Lupus ICS+GB Or Just Normal GB
Im Currently seeing what i can get the most speed out of what is better and does zram help with gaming
I don't think zRam helps with gaming that much,u might get 1-2 FPS boost

Yes, it is true
Hi
First post. Will try not to look the idiot or ask what has already been asked. Here goes, I am unable to find a kernel that actually improves my phone, i currently have the following -
Nexus 4
ROM - PSX V1
Moto x mod (great addition)
Stock kernel
I have tried two or three kernels including the new Trinity one which gave me a worse performance. Would someone point me in the right direction?
Could i also say a big thanks to PSX developer for a great ROM.
Regards.
Have you tried Franco...?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
did you try adjusting settings to your needs? considering the trinity kernel maxes at 1026mhz by default, until you adjust the cpu speed yourself.
So if I reinstalled trinity and used trickster to increase the cpu, I might get better results?
I haven't tried franco just yet.

Right after a bit of trial and error I reckon I have cracked it.
PSX v1
Moto x
Trinity kernel
Results from antutu
22400
Results from Quadrant
9500
Up from 16500 and 6300.

Improvement is a subjective in this context. In what way? Faster? More features? Better battery life? Better sound quality? Better color? Smoother?
Benchmark means nothing. It is possible to apply the Samsung's dalvik cheat patch to your rom which will increase your benchmark score but yield no real world performance. With some settings you might get great benchmark, but the phone might get hot with poor battery life. Moreover, most benchmark programs do not tell the real story about performance. Antutu and Geekbench doesn't even work correctly with 4.4 and ART. iOS7 might get good scores sunspider javascript, but there are times when Android web performance outright beat it.
This thread falls in the category of "What is the best kernel/rom?" which is against XDA rules so I can;t help you. Research each kernel and read about its features and users feedback and find what is right for you. A lot of time stock kernel will give the best stability and battery life.
I use kernels mainly for features. There are other bigger factors about the operating system that determine battery life and performance.
What I wanted was faster and this certainly is faster. So I'm happy. Thanks for all your help.

Use latest PSX rom, put phone in freezer for 1hour, set CPU to 1800MHZ performance, GPU to 533MHZ performance if possible, raise overall cpu voltage, stop all background app, run benchmark.

What is your highest antutu benchmark score without overclocking. What is your highest score when overclocked. Share your cpu clock or a screenshot of antutu benchmark. I just got 5993 on my HDMI play with a few tweaks. Let me Know!

Adrenoboost v7 and some build.prop tweaks some of which I did myself that I came up with. No supercharge or ram tweaks. Also no storage tweaks. Feels quite fast. Also zero overclock just got 6167!
