Hi all,
I'm fairly new to the rooting scene so please go easy on me if I sound a little stupid. I've done a bit of reading from time to time over the last few months and it seems like there are a lot of different opinions and theories about rooting to and from the official ROMs with Knox. I'm on the official 4.3 now so I've already got Knox installed.
I'm wondering if it's easy to simply root the phone so I can adjust some settings (Eg. turning the annoying shutter sound off on the camera), but not install any new ROM, without tripping the Knox flag? I don't want to lose any warranty and I want to be able to update OTA officially when new updates come out. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks for your help.
Not without voiding the Knox warranty, no. If that's important to you, forget about custom firmware.

Hmm damn! So it's loading custom firmware even without loading a custom ROM?
No way around that if you already have the Knox bootloader.

Not my case, but I have readen that only for i9505 (i9500 will not work) you can use VROOT to root the phone without warranty bit increasing... othercase, for 9500, no way...

Well this is part of my problem, I'm hearing a lot of different things from different people. I'm on i9505, so is there anyone else that's been able to do this without tripping the Knox flag?

Yes, search for "s4 vroot" in Google, there are several blogs with instructions. Only works in i9505.

had a quick look, didn't find that much... but looks like it may not work with MK9 versions, any idea if that's true?

Thanks but these quotes are a worry:
"I DONT SUPPORT NOR DO I USE THIS ANYMORE."
AND
"Kingo and vroot have been determined to be malware and unsafe for use, as such all threads will be closed and links removed.
Thank you"
The links provided for alternate solutions aren't making much sense to me.

Dear all,
first of all, sorry if this question is repeated, but I couldn't find a good answer by searching.
I bought a i9505 Galaxy S4 that came with a version of Android that has been modified by the carrier. There's a lot of bloatware and everything, but worse, they haven't even released the Android 4.3.
Can I install a "default" firmware of a i9505 Galaxy S4, in order to solve this problem? Clean, carrier free?
If yes, can someone post a guide on how to do this? I'm completely new to this subject, have no experience at all.
Thank you very much in advance!
Anyone?
This problem is really annoying me...
Another try...
Is it possible to just flash android again or do I need to root my phone?
I'm new to Android.

You can directly flash a rom from your country free of branch (fob) or unbranched (ub), their updates are faster than carrier ones. You don't need to root the phone to do this.

Great, that already helps a lot. I'll find a way to do that. Thank you!

Well, searching in Sammobile I found out that my firmware is Brazil (VIVO) - ZVV. (Vivo is the carrier)
Can I just flash Brazil - ZTO (which is carrier free) with Samsung Kies?
Thank you!

You can flash that rom, but not with kies... kies will only update your installed rom, it is, zvv firmware. You must flash zto rom by Odin 3.09. It is easy, just search the forum.

Knox will only change when u modified ur system with something unsigned by samsung.
E.g : rooting, change kernel, change recovery, change rom.
Otherwise it will stay the same. Official rom as long as signed digitally by samsung knox counter won't change.

I think you can not change CSC after doing this. As for Europe some roms are multi-CSC and will default to a random one.
Please correct me if I am wrong, i hope that i am.
LE: I think we can root and change CSC via:
Root: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2553647 will not trip KNOX
CSC change:
1) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.manniakk.cscselector&hl=ro
2) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=bas.sie.cscchange&hl=ro [PAID App]
According to the thread yes. But those test on note 3.
U can try if u want on ur risk. From the looks of it, it will work.

LE: Hong Kong 4.3 rom does not change CSC for COA (Romania - Carrier unlocked) so when the 4.3 COA rom will come out you can just flash over.
P.S the keyboard has English but i find it a little odd.
Staff did s4 I9505 update to 4.4.2 via kies kitkat now and it always restarts several times a day.
Can anyone help me solve this. Froze the KINOX by TITANIUM

Someone tried it?
Does it void your warranty?
Will OTA work if I uninstall it?
Is it as risky as change rom? Or more like root the phone?
Also, can you link a safe guide for the ze551ml?

1. it depends on your country mobile regulator, as far i know in europe is legal to root your phone and does not void warranty
2. before you apply ota, uninstall xposed and unroot your devices
3. more like root the phone.
follow this guide, ask on the thread if you not sure.

I rooted already my phone, so I guess its not a problem.
Anyway the ADB method looks easy, I guess I'll give it a try.
And what about the Xposed Framework systemless? Why does it exist if you can apply OTA with default xposed?
Also, how can I do a nandroid backup before installing it? I want to be sure I can recover the phone.
Bump!

Could be basis, but still the thread doesn't talk about systemless xposed framework and I didn't even find if I can use otas with it
So read more. Here, or on xposed dedicated thread, or, on the threads talking about OTA's
