Installed 4.3 now cannot get to recovery - Galaxy S III General

Hola!
Today, I installed the Vodafone UK 4.3 firmware over Kies. All good, but my phone felt like it could do with a good old refresh. So, I did a factory reset directly via the System Settings. All good.
Now I want to root, so I hold down power / volume down to get into download mode for Odin, but all I get is a recurring bootloop. It will not boot to recovery. If I let go of the buttons, it boots to system just fine.
I had TWRP installed, via GooManager, prior to installing 4.3 and the factory reset.
Any idea how I can restore either the default or customer recovery and get into download mode so I can re-root the phone?
Ta!

Manually Flash Recovery Image

I'm having an issue with recovery. I re-flashed back to stock, and when I tried re-rooting my phone, it took me back to stock recovery which for some strange reason wont let me select anything with the power button. Is there guide to flash to image manually using adb? Or any way to re-root the phone? One-click root wont work since the recovery isn't letting me select anything. I'm stuck.
Nevermind. I went ahead and was able to do a master reset and go back to stock with ODIN3.

[Q] Stuck at boot screen after TWRP asking if I want to install SuperSU

I have to think I'm not the first to be in this situation but my searches didn't turn up anything that looked familiar.
I rooted the stock phone and installed TWRP 2.6xx a month or two ago with no issues. Everything's been running great and I decided it was time to make another backup using TWRP.
After a successful backup I wiped dalvik and cache out of habit and went to reboot -- TWRP said I was not rooted and wanted to know if I wanted to install SuperSU? This question was unexpected since I'd been rooted for a long time, and I decided to just say yes. The phone rebooted and stopped at the Samsung Galaxy S4 boot screen. I did up-volume reboot to recovery, but it seemed to hang at the TWRP blue screen -- I later discovered it will eventually get to the menu after a minute or two of the blue screen. I tried wiping cache and dalvik again and rebooting -- every time I try to reboot now it asks if I want to install SuperSU -- whether I say yes or no seems to make no difference -- I've tried both several times. Every time it hangs at the Samsung boot screen, or it takes forever to get to TWRP if I'm booting to recovery.
I've tried wiping cache, dalvik and data with no improvement. I finally tried formatting data, but again no improvement. I also tried restoring my backup several times and wiping cache and dalvik but still stuck.
I prior to today's problems I'd used TWRP a number of times and I don't recall it asking the SuperSU question, so I am thinking that is the key to this problem, and I'm wondering if anyone knows what it means?
You need to go to 2502 twrp, 26+ has hanging problems and possible Partition issues, also what rom are you on? Do you need to flash super su along with the rom /gapps?
Here's the twrp forum for us SPH-L720
The last page has a download link for the most stable build for us good luck!

I'm running what came on the phone, just unlocked, rooted, and installed TWRP.
I ran CM10.1 on my previous phone and currently on my tablet, but my impression from running it previously is CM is a downgrade in voicemail functionality (you get these annoying text messages and have to call the voicemail), and I'm assuming it doesn't support the special GS4 hardware features like being able to hover your finger.
OK I installed TWRP 2502 and it now boots to recovery normally. However, it still asks me before rebooting if I want to install SuperSU, and it hangs on the Samsung boot screen.

How did you root? CF auto root also installs SuperSU
Do you have a back up from when you were rooted? IF twrp keeps giving you problems, use cwm, are you able to get past the Samsung boot..
Yeah that's what I did back when I rooted it months ago. I tried running CF auto root again today and it didn't work, so I ran it from Odin and it did work that time, but there was no change -- still hangs on the Samsung boot screen, although now I'm back to the stock recovery. So I tried installing the stock MF9 firmware from Odin -- still hangs on the boot screen. I don't know what to do at this point...
After mf9 install avd stock recovery did you factory reset
Yes, I did a factory reset -- followed the video instructions by qbking77. Still hangs on the boot screen.
Take out battery.. Put back in. Go to stock recovery, holding all 3 buttons volume up factory reset.. If you used odin abd flashed mf9 it should fix you?

Im also stucked with the same problem!! After flashing my rom succesfully it just ask ur device is not rooted swipe to install!! I tried all the posiblities!! but i stuck with the boot image!! pls help me!!
From experience it sounds like you should head over to sammobile and Odin back to stock and start fresh.
1. Odin to stock
2. Root phone
3. Put desired recovery
4. Flash ROM (be sure to read dev install instructions some require reboot of recovery after wipe)
5.try to restore backup (best if you flash ROM that is backup then restore backup)
6.if you went into nae or ng2 you cannot downgrade to me
7.google has many solutions
Sent from my SCH-I545 using XDA Free mobile app
Sorry for necro, but did anyone figure out a solution to this? This just happened to me.
Just Reflash it
We have the same issue, tried to install supersu binary, after installing through twrp recover, my phone went bootloop, as i've tried to search the internet, the issue doesn't fix by by most of the users unless they reflash their device. though its a bit hassle starting from zero, but atleast, you got ur device back
This helps me:
1. Run Odin on your computer and, after entering download mode on your phone, establish a connection between your devices with the help of the USB cable.
2.Note: for download mode – power off your smartphone and then press and hold, at the same time, the Power, Volume Down and Home buttons.
3.Odin will try to recognize your device; if everything works as expected, on the program the “added” message will be displayed and the ID:COM field will be turned yellow, or blue. (Note: if that’s not happening, unplug the USB connection, close Odin, force restart your phone and reinstall the USB drivers on your computer before retrying the steps from above)
4.From the program click on the “PA” button and load the custom recovery image; don’t check Re Partition and Auto Reboot options.
5.When done, click on “start” and wait while TWRP recovery is being added on your phone
6.In the end, Odin will display the “pass” message and the ID:COM filed will be turned green (or other color) with message - RESTART; you can then remove the USB cord and reboot your smartphone.
I have had this prob on a few things , if you have a backup, flash any mod that will go to the device will do then run the backup and reflash should work .and if you have twrp try to reformat all but the system and see if that helps.
Good luck.
Hi to everyone.
Today, I installed the TWRP and the ROM and both were installed correctly on a Le Pro3 X722. The problem started when the Google services were updating. Suddenly, the phone restarted and entered in a bootloop. I was not even able to enter the TWRP. The page freeze on LE-Recovery logo and then crashed (fill full of lines). I disconnected the battery for a while and then, I was able to enter the TWRP for 2 time but recovery crashes in few seconds. I wanted to wipe and install a clean rom but I cannot enter TWRP anymore.
Please, Is there someone that could help me?
Thank you very much in advance
PS. My phone is not recognized via ADB. I tried with the AIO Tool but my device is not detected.
Hi, I followed the whole process for Qfil explained here:
Leeco Le Pro3 x720 Hard Brick
So the phone was running lineageos 15.1 nightly from 22.08 which i guess was kind of really unstable (even opening twitter in the morning could turn off the device. It could be turned back on right away though), xposed framework v90 w/yt...

Installation was correct but nothing change in my phone:
- same start page and bootloop
- Same problem trying to access the recovery.
Now, i can connect via fastboot and I would like to install a fastboot rom (preferable EUI stock 20) but I cannot find one. All links are dead.
Thank you very much in advance

[Q] ODIN fails while installing TWRP, stuck at boot

I was trying to upgrade from CM11 to CM12, which went smooth except for GAPPS closing constantly. I read online that this was caused by an old version of the recovery, so I tried to update TWRP to 2.8.4.0. I first tried using the TWRP app from the Play Store (after recovering my Nandroid backup), which locked the phone where it would only try booting into recovery, but couldn't get there. Holding the power button to turn it off would result in a reboot right back into recovery, which of course never went anywhere. Now I am trying to re-install TWRP using ODIN but It fails every time [Complete(Write) operation failed.] I have an early S4 from AT&T and it has never had an official update. I can't remember which firmware it is using, but it is the original so I shouldn't have any problems there. Can anybody help me get this thing up and running with either TWRP or CWM and CM12 please?!
Update: I have been able to get the phone to boot by first booting into Download mode, then hitting the Volume Down button to cancel. This has twice booted it back into the OS. Still no recovery though.
Solved
I was able to install TWRP 2.8.4.0 from the app after getting the device to boot. It worked correctly this time and all appears to be well. Odd that ODIN didn't work though.

Lg G2 LS980: Having Problems After Trying To Flash CyanogenMod 12.1

Sprint LS980 in an odd state after trying to flash CyanogenMod 12.1
Ok... so I got two of these Sprint LG G2's. I was able to successfully flash the first one with a minimum amount of problems considering I was just learning how to do it.
This second one is a problem though. Here's what I did:
I tried to root but it could not due to the version of the Sprint firmware on the phone. I did the TOT stock flash to get it back to stock. That worked fine.
Then I was able to root it via ioroot. Once rooted, I installed FreeGee and tried to install TWRP, that didn't seem to work, so I installed CWM Recovery. I did option two on this thread to try to get the loki stuff installed using openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.4-ls980. That "installed" and I was able to boot into it. I installed cm-12.1-20151125-NIGHTLY-ls980 (same one I used on the other phone). That would not install via CWM and gave an error about not being able to lokify (or something like that).
So I said, OK, I must have done something wrong, so I tried to redo stock flash again. That acts like everything works fine LGFlash does it's thing (using LS980ZVA_01.TOT), but the phone boots up and does not seem to finish the install process. The LG logo comes up and not the Sprint screen that I would expect. I can do this over and over again and the results are the same whether I let it sit for an hour or 10 minutes after flashing. So now, the phone boots, but I can't do anything with the touch screen, and will then go into a reboot loop (getting into the OS but rebooting shortly after). I CAN get into CWM where I can wipe data/factory reset and wipe cache partition. After I do that, the phone will boot and will let me interact with it, but after a short time (a few minutes I think), it will reboot again and be in the same state it was before I went into CWM. I tried to do a factory reset in settings. It would say that two reboots would occur, but then nothing happens.
I'm at a bit of a loss as to where to go from here. I don't think that it's an unrecoverable brick, but heck if I know how to fix it.
In between reboots, ADB does see the device in ADB Devices, but shows that it's offline, so I can push an APK to it.
Here are the options that I get in recovery mode:
Reboot System Now
Apply Update From External SD Card
Apply Update From Cache
Apply Update from ADB
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
Ok.. well.. I downloaded and flashed ZVE and it seems to have greatly stabilized the phone. However, it seems that I have lost the ability to do download mode and recovery mode. I can still get into the device through ADB, but ioroot no longer is able to root the device, so I can't install any recovery. There is a system update available to install, but didn't want to do that unless I'm good an stuck in this mode.
I also don't seem to be able to enable the cellular service. I don't know if the update it wants to install would fix that or not.
Edit: I can still do ADB reboot recovery and get into recovery mode with these options:
Apply Update From External SD Card
Apply Update From Cache
Apply Update from ADB
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Edit2: I was able to root with Stump. FreeGee won't run on ZVE, so not sure what to do from here. The phone does not work at all. None of the phone info is listed in About Phone. No IMEI or anything.
Edit3: I have been able to get TWRP installed and can boot into it. I have also verified that I can get into download mode now. I'm very concerned about my EFS info though. I did back it up, but not to the PC, so effectively I have no EFS backup and no way to recover the IMEI information. Not cool...

S4 not booting into recovery or anything after a factory reset

Hi guys,
I was running cyanogenmod 12 on my s4 i9505 sucessfully. Today I decided to encrypt my device, and I went ahead with it and it was sucessful except for the fact my apps got deleted. I set the phone to factory reset as I didn't it anymore and it went ahead and restarted. However now it boots up with the blue text at the top left saying booting into the recovery, The Twrp screen (the blue one) comes up but it then disappears and reappears. Im not too sure on what to do. Also removing the battery and reinserting it doesn't make a difference, as when i switch my phone on again it comes up with the blue recovery boot text.
I would just like for my phone to work, I dont need any data back.
Thank you
Have you tried flashing a stock ROM from sammobile.com with Odin?

I found some firmware, but Im not sure which one Im meant to use. I bought my phone from amazon.
What is the baseband and bootloader on the phone? These two items will hep identify the stock ROM for the phone.
I would flash the recovery with Odin. See if you can get into download mode by holding power, volume up and home button simultaneously. If so you can download Odin to a PC and flash CWM or TWRP. Google the tar file for your specific device and you can find what you need. . Once set up on PC you can then connect phone to PC while in download mode and reinstall a recovery. Suggest you reinstall CM ROM if you have zip file and gapps file on an SD card. Good luck
