As anyone else noticed white line when you press the power button to boot up?
They are located on the bottom of the screen below the word Google... And they appear in a flash....
I also noticed that they seems to be more frequent when my tablet is cold in the morning (first and second boot)
My one year old tablet was doing it so I RMA it. The one they send me is doing the same thing......
I don't know what to do with this....

Anyone?

Yes, mine does this, and I've seen it mentioned elsewhere. I'm pretty sure (like 99.9% sure) it's not causing any problems nor is it a symptom of a problem. My tablet runs great. I've never worried about it, and am surprised they'd RMA it for this.

Mine is doing it too. I have only noticed since going to 4.4.
Hi,
I for myself never noticed this problem, but as other people already mentioned, it should not be considered a real problem, unless if you start noticing something weird on your screen.

I don't know a lot about Android, apart from rooting and flashing ROMs, and I need help with this issue. My 16gb nexus 7 has a pixel-wide black line going across the screen, dead center. Just showed up about 2 hours ago, while it was setting on my bed. I restarted, and the line was there during the Google logo and boot animation. I am running paranoidandroid 2.54 with m-kernel. Any ideas on what caused it or how to fix it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Correction: I am running motley kernel. And the line seems to be changing colors so I don't think the pixels are dead. My guess is that its software.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Try a different kernel and hope and pray bro....otherwise its a warranty deal.

Yeah its only the beginning of the inevitable. Your screen is going bad. It will get worse. Return to stock and rma.

Any preferred method of returning to stock and unrooting? I have the nexus 7 toolkit, but I'm not sure what's best. I'll check the forums as well. Thanks for the help!

i have a line across the screen too but it flashes a yellow one. the pixels are still working (shows all available colors) but sometimes a yellow line flashes constantly
I tried factory reset, change kernels, roms, etc. but the problem is still there. also i opened the device and tried to check a few connections but nothing changed. by the way, the line only shows up at the same spot, never changes. sometimes it crosses the whole screen but it usually shows up partially
is my screen counting days to drop dead? is there a fix?
Rma it and don't tell them you opened it

a short after posting here, my nexus 7 dropped from my computer box (about 1,5 meters). the screen did not cracked, no damage anywhere.
the damn yellow line was still there BUT not for a long time. I just blinked a couple of times and disappear. As you can see it was a few days ago and i didn't see it anymore since then
I don't know if it was luck or a miracle but actually it worked! my problem seems to be fixed so far
I would like to thank anyone who helped me out in this thread. I received my tablet today and its a brand new one. All the problems are fixed and it even feels heavier than it used to. And its sturdier. Woot!

Hello,
I have a Nexus 7 32GB WiFi, using 4.2.2 stock ROM, rooted and unlocked boot loader. I wiped device when 4.2.2 was released and started fresh again.
For a few weeks now I have noticed when using Chrome browser after closing or letting browser run in background when looking at my home screen I can see part of the browser like a shadow showing on the screen.
Here is a picture of it, does anyone know what this is and is it a hardware problem or something ?
Some times the shadow is much noticeable than other times.
If you look carefully you will see the shadow.
Thanks for any help.

Not a hardware problem. It goes by a couple of terms, ghosting, persistence, and if permanent screen burn-in.
It happens when you have the same screen up for a long time. If it fades, It's persistence, and does no real harm. If the 'ghost' does not fade it's burn-in, and is permanent damage.
Keeping your seen at the lowest brightness that suits your current need will minimize this, and help prevent actual burn-in.

So i just received some money i was thinking about getting a tablet so i was looking at the nexus 10 still worth it?
I just got mine a week ago. I love it. I have both the N4 and the N7. I wasn't planning on getting the N10 but a friend of mine made me an offer I couldn't refuse.
The display is something you have to see to believe. If you are in the market for a 10" tablet you'd be hard pressed to find a tab with this resolution and SOC for the price. Not to mention its a Nexus.

Best Android tablet on the market.
I'm happy with mine, it may the best Android 10" tablet right now. With such a strong developer community supporting it, I'll probably have mine for a couple years before I worry about replacing it.
Man cut it out with the screen he has to see it to belive it .
It s normal screen with very good clarity but the blacks are really bad in compare to the espectations. it s a nice screen when you throw an image to it but not perfect . The collors are not that good and it suffers from light bleed .
Nexus 10 still worth every penny now BUT only if you get a unit without problems . I hope now things has improved in the Quality Control departament .
If you get one with problems, you pay for a nightmare .

Well i hope i don't get no light bleed what app is it that i need to get to check to see if i get light bleed just order mine today should get here by wednesday.
From market -> Backlight Bleed Test -> select black color -> enjoy
Don t worry so much . i think yours its ok ... Maybe a new revision ..
Search for more info in the forum . you get the ideea

light bleed is placebo
colors could be better, i agree
Test for power issues, those will be the hardest to get fixed. Took me months to get mine fixed.

What kind of po issues are you referring to? I own a Nexus 10 since yesterday. I noticed that it loads the battery really slow. If it is plugged in during normal usage, it just keeps its battery level. Are you talking about that?

After a bit of use (or some games), the battery level becomes "stuck" (or while asleep a while), and plugging/unplugging a charger reboots the device. THEN and ONLY then will it show the correct value.

Randomly it seems, when I tap on the touchscreen on my new N7 2013, nothing happens, and I have to repeat the process several times before my touches are registered.
Does anyone else have this problem?

See my thread titled " Another touch issue, with reproducible steps".
Go into developer options and enable "Show touches" and "Pointer location"
If you see your touches registering but the app isn't responding, it is probably a problem with the app. If you see random stuff on the screen, probably a problem with the digitizer or digitizer in combination with the driver/software in this release.
Ive experienced this a few times and it seems to be a software /hardware interface issue with particular custom rom builds ive installed. I know the touchscreen hardware itself was fine when I forced reboot into recovery and the touchscreen worked as normal in custom recovery.

I wouldn't. If you had a Verizon Galaxy Nexus when it came out, you'll remember that it had the same issue with certain points on the screen (lower right hand corner) when using multi-touch applications. The entire screen would either stop seeing input or start going erratic and creating faulty inputs that weren't happening. It isn't a hardware issue, proven by some users experiencing it and some not. The only time I've experienced it is in the Netflix application while trying to choose a show to watch. I re-boot the application and viola, no more issue. Some in this thread even are stating that they only see the problem sometimes after getting the 4.3 update.
In short, it's software and not hardware.
Same issue when not touching with both hands somehow (like if the tablet is flat on a table).

Haven't had a problem with mine. I just got it today, and it's worked like a charm. I bought mine from Gamestop if that helps any.
Just got a brand new 32GB Nexus yesterday, fully upgraded to the latest software. However I've noticed when powering up, as the 'Google' logo appears on the screen it also throws up about 4 quite wide pixelated lines for about half a second.
Looks to be something of a graphical glitch as the logo appears. Just wondering if anybody has noticed this on their device, if it was returned as faulty or if it's just one of those things?
Both mine and my wife's do it so I guess its normal. I think it started after the KitKat update.

I see it quite frequently on my nexus 7, only once on the nexus 10
I mostly noticed it after Kit Kat as well. Thanks for the replies though, at least I know I'm not alone on this one.
Hi,
I think it is always good to see if someone else had the same issue as you, but I also believe that unless it is bringing another serious problem then you should not worry .
