Guys I want to buy a new android device !!
Maybe a Galaxy SII or Galaxy Nexus
So can you guys SUGGEST me which to buy!!
Also please give me some REVIEWS and their PROS & CONS
Please help me i am really confused !!!
S2: better camera, better battery, slightly better processor and gpu, durability (the last two are not major)
Gnex: better screen, nfc, direct update from Google..
Also, you can try jelly bean right now if you had gnex.. and looking at the people interest I'd say you should get the nexus

Previous posted specs, so I won't.
I was in the same situation one month ago. I had had both of them in my hands and the Nexus was too big (although you get used to it with time).
Of course right now I would like to have a Nexus to test Jelly Bean, but I think I made the right choice for me. Bot are beasts and I love squared designed, which the Nexus isn't.
You won't be disappointed with any of these 2!
But Gnex is not officially launcher in india so its a big disaapointment

So if you can't get a GNex, your decision is easy, get a S2
You know the specs of both phones, and you can't make a decision on your own ? (Yes, using ridiculously formatted posts is naff & reeks of 'Look at moi !)

It's not that easy dude, not everyone prefer the s2 over the nexus although both are pretty much the same.. with nexus you'll get jelly bean right away (which everyone been after now) and an overall better screen..
Why note smuggle it?

Of course. I was saying "if you cannot get a GNex", it leaves him only his other option (S2). I don't how how easy is buying a phone over the internet in India. I can get any phone in my country, but I can't tell about others.
I'm not trying to convince him or anybody. I don't care what phone he buys. Just trying to help with questions.
I been thinking of switching to gnex mainly due to updates and no touch wiz but im afraid new nex is just around corner especially with recent apple law suit.
Is sgs2 processor and gpu really that much better?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
This exynos is still very very powerful even now
In terms of CPU (or maybe the frequency)- I've read (cannot remember the source though) that TI-OMAP on GNEX was originally clocked to 1,5 ghz but it was underclocked to 1,2 ghz in order to save the battery. So I suppose OC Ti-OMAP may perform better than OC Exynos. (Mine is quite stable on 1.5 ghz but freezes immediately on 1.6 ghz) So if somebody consider overclocking in future this can be useful information.
In terms of GPU - Mali 400MP kicks PowerVR SGX540's (it was considered obsolete right after release of GNex) ass. It was only iphone's 4S PowerVR SGX543MP2 (and Apple A5 chipset )that performed slightly better in tests than MAli 400MP and Exynos chipset.
This + screen size + SD slot made me buy S2 and I don't regret at all!
If I was you I would definitely buy the nexus as it has a better quality screen (hd), it is pure Google phone (direct updates), I like the design and, of course, Jelly Bean.

So iam Thinking of selling my note 2 and buy an s4, but after seeing the vast bad consumer reviews on both the german and uk amazon about the failure rates of the display and overheating issues its starting to worrying me.
Did you guys have any issues with your s4?
Should I wait for a less defective batch?
The version available to me is the l9505
People are going to have different opinions. Some will say fw will fix problems. When the Note 3 and/or the S5 come out, I know what I'm doing. I'm going to wait a little bit, not too long though and get a feel of what consumers have to say about the device before purchasing. To each their own.

Problems you read about on the Internet can happen, however, in the case of S4 some of the problems have been solved by Samsung with firmware updates.
Overheating seem to happen more often on i9500 than on i9505. I personally never had a problem with overheating.
I personally wouldn't wait.
Therr are 2 versions of s4.
1. I9500 - has heating problem due to the octa core processor.
2. I9505 - comparitively, gets lets heated up.
About the screen issue, most of it is caused due to not handling s4 properly or by heating issue.
Anyway, note 2 is an awesome device. I own one too. Apart from note 2, I own s4. I must say that s4 is way better than note 2. You can see significant performance with s4 along with the amazing software support from samsung.
The choice it yours. You should look at some reviews on youtube becuase there is nothing called as 'less defective batch of s4' unlike the defects found in htc one.

If you are using note 2 then at least you should wait more one or two months...i dont think s4 is so big update over note 2
Yes..if you are using other devices like note 1 , s2 (or s3 may be) etc then you can buy s4 now and now you can get much price cut on s4
After all its your choice
if you come from the note 2 then my advice is to wait for the note 3
its the best choice for you and the note 2 is still a very capable device that runs anything currently out well

This thread is going towards comparison b/w S4 and Note 2. isn't it.?
BTW, I do have both devices S4 octa V & Note 2.
Both have different parameters. Better to use this thread for comparison -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2334012
I have SGSIII E210K and SGS4 I9500. Both have heat issue. And i wouldn't say I9500 have exceptional heating. Nope. It's comparable to E210K, but may be a little more hot. But, hey, I9500 has more powerful CPU as well.
Thus heating level is normal if compare to other powerful devices. If u don't play 3D games and don't use live 3d wallpaper then I9500 won't heat much.
Note 2 (and Note 3 will as well) has bigger size and thus more efficient in heat dissipation. So, it's obviously will work better even with the same CPU. And has room for bigger battery as well.
If you are user of Note 2 then upgrade to Note 3 will be more pleasant than to S4 where u will have some trade-offs.
As a i9500 user I haven't experienced any reset due to camera or heating. Heating is moderate even when I am running benchmarks. Everything seems fine to me and performance is extraordinary! Only thing I wonder is we might not get google edition rom but there is a possibility that samsung will release a fw for i9500 that will run all 8 cores which is exciting!

8 cores at the same time would equal very low battery time.
Well that might be the reason behind late developing process.

I dont know about overheating but I know I looked everywhere for 19500 which it looks like you can only find online. From what ive read the proc itself is better .. not so much right now but has room to be used way more effectivly.. If there is no overheating issues i would get the 9500 just in case down the road these fine people are able to unlock the xtra power. As for me I couldnt wait for an order and just bought the 9505 and Im super happy with it.. Good luck either way im sure youll be happy.
I am happy with my i9505 and the development seems better also.

If you plan to install roms such as CM or AOKP then the i9505 is your choice, if not then it really doesn't matter, just buy the cheapest of the two.
Get the one which is being officially sold in your country. If you can have either one, I would recommend i9505.

Mine doesn't have a heating problem. Is normal to be hot when playing demanding games, but it is not extremely hot.
Snapdragon version (i9505) should be a little bit cooler (not too much though).
For better custom ROM support I suggest the I9505. But i doubt the Galaxy S4 will be much coolee than the Xperia Z.
Stay away from the i9500 , I thought I was getting a good phone and here are a few things that made me decide to stay away from samsung from now :
- It overheats like crazy (no matter what you are doing on it , even idle charging)
- It's less powerful than the i9505 (don't kid yourself , A15 @ 1.6GHz is weaker than the 1.9 GHz Snapdragon)
- Freezes and reboots itself several times a week (due to application/stock rom issues)
Horrible , horrible experience.

Dude, something's terribly wrong with your phone. Sounds like problems that the phone had with its original first firmware. Update, wipe and than come back in.
I have I9500 and I'm on Omega v11 with stock kernel, have no issues with overheating in idle or simple tasks. Demanding tasks or games makes phone hot, but tolerable. Battery life is great, especially now on MG5!
And since I bought it, I have never had even one random reboot or freeze.
And to notice. A15 with its GPU is more potent than Snapdragon 600 with its Adreno.

I have tried almost every single firmware out there (Stock only) , I refuse to root it and/or apply modded roms since it will null my warranty (and yes , most of the bugs I came across are from firmwares but still a phone someone should stay away from)
He's right. The octa processor isn't really ready for prime time yet. It doesn't really work the way an octa core should and doesn't give any advantage over the quad at this stage. It seems it was mostly a marketing gimmick - some people will buy it because they assume more cores makes it better.

Sorry but I had no choice when buying it at AMAZON site. Only choice was the color ' black or white".
For me it was only one S4 and not many different model as today (more than 6 versions!!!) That's a funny way Samsung is playing with prodduct names.
Anyway I am happy with what I get, no LTE available in my country and it will take long time to open, so when ready I'll be buying S8!!! may be....

Hey guys. I'm not sure where to put this so i apoligize in advance if this is in the wrong section.
So at the moment I have a galaxy s3 which is good. It runs relatively smoothly and even though it's only 720p, the display is nice too. However my one gripe about the phone would be it's battery life. I can only make it through the day with 3 hours of screen time at 30-40% brightness.
Now the note cause my eye because of its large display and battery. The s-pen seems cool too and i could probably use it to take notes.
I was dead set on the Note 3 but I've read all these troubles Knox brought upon the rooting/dev community. Of course I root my phone to use root apps and I flash ROMs if I'm feeling up to it, but I'd like to keep my warranty if possible while being able to root my device but Knox seems to be a barricade.
So because of this, I'm considering getting the LG G2...
But what I want to know is, despite knox, should i still get the Note 3?

Depending on which note you end up with it might still be possible to have root and keep Knox at 0x0.
Regardless of Knox though, it's an amazing phone and you don't even really need root.

The Note 3 is great. However if I had an S3 and was interested in custom ROMs then I'd wait a little while until things are a little more developed for the Note, the price for it will probably be better by then too.

I'd say get it also, but you're in a Note 3 forum and 99.9% of your replies are gonna have that answer.
As I posted elsewhere It's purely personal preference, depends what you want in/from the phone itself.
As radicalisto said, but I will add it is the most perfect phone, and for once this geek may keep a phone three years! (I'm a yearly changer).
But yep I feel this is the height of technology and I would be envious of it if I had an s3 (also a great phone).

If warranty is really a concern , then go for g2 but let me tell you if you saw someone using note 3 after that, you will regret your choice. Note series has many unique features which are useful in daily life. On note 2, I barely used s pen once a week but with note 3 I am using it daily. Battery life is almost double than s3. Choice is yours.

The only real cons I have for the Note 3 is that there's no rooting available and that the G2's / Nexus 5's screen looks better IMO, at least from when I saw it in the bestbuy store. Battery life is pretty ridiculous for me. My previous phone was a Droid Charge though which lost like 10% per 10 minutes of 4G + browser. I can go a full day before it goes to 15% (by full day I mean 7 AM to 9 PM) with pretty heavy usage.
Get the N9005 version. The support is bigger for it. Like custom roms etc.. check the phone before tripping knox and you will be fine.. (screen, gps etc)
Thanks for the replies!
Right now.. the G2 is $20 with a contract renewal on Sprint.
The Note 3 is $300.. so I'm contemplating on this choice even more now.
Just don't ****ing update to MJ7 (unless it comes with it out of the box).
Excuse my language.

Hello everyone
Long story short, I decided to upgrade and went with an M9 (or three), and each one had a different problem. All of them suffered from light leaks, the last one stuck pixel too. The camera is poor, so I am weighing my options. Coming from a G3, my obvious choice would be a G4 but...BUT !
I have managed to find the Exynos variant of the Note 4 for about 378 pounds, brand new and sealed. My question is (for current users) - would you consider it future proof? Is it still snappy, good, and a good investement for another year or so? Would you recommend it over the G4?
Many thanks
Well, I was in the same boat as you: Wanted to upgrade from my G3 because I had the 2GB variant, it was a lagfest with launcher redraws and apps closing all the time. AOSP had good performance but also had bugs and the camera sucked.
So I found the Exynos Note 4 for a good prince in my area and decided to take the plunge even though I never owned a samsung phone before, and bought it based on the interest I had on the Note II back then and some superficial reviews I've had read about it.
I have absolutely no regrets whatsoever, the Note 4 definitely feels like an upgrade from the G3. It's faster, the screen has better colors and contrast, better visibility in the sun, and touchwiz came a long way from the old days where it was regarded as one of the worst manufacturer skins to android. The note 4 has many features that amazed me, including the best one-hand mode implementation so far.
I say go with it, you won't be disappointed.

If you have a choice NEVER go for exynos ESPECIALLY if you want to root/flash roms later on. If you are fine with stock rom then it doesn't matter which you go for. Just know that stock is a little laggy no matter which variant you go for.
I hated the lag and finally installed CM and am not looking back, you can get SPEN functionality on AOSP roms now too so not really an issue. CM FLIES on note 4, so fast!!!!

Maybe I should've worded my post differently. The snapdragon isn't available in my area, so there was no option of choosing variants. Exynos has no aosp, but SimplRom is pretty fast and yet has all the built in spen functionality.

Welcome to the family my brothers
I have the Exynos version & it's great
I recently got a Note 4 N910C, which is the Exynos model for the EU and I can honestly say that I love it.
I seek a kind advice, I currently have a 2GB G3 and i am looking to upgrade (as i wont have an opportunity to do that in future) Been deciding between an iphone 6plus and note 4, or basically any other big phone. So should i go for a note 4 or a different device? My main concern is if the note will be a solid choise for about 2 years or so.

Get the exynos, the CPU will be cooler therefore you will have no underclock due to high temps like 4 core snapdragon. Also a dev here (sorry i dont remember his name) is working on CM for our phone with exynos chip. But i really don't feel like i need to change the stock samsung rom so bad, some guys here are drowning on a teaspoon of water. Note 4 is one of the best phones atm, go for it.

By the way it's rumored oneplus two will have the snapdragon 810. This chip has overheating issues.

Well oneplus one costs about as much as exynos note 4 here, it is cheaper but the difference is not that big so i think that oneplus two will be about the same price as a note
