KK 4.4 !! [Solved] Wifi Regional problem with sim card inserted - myTouch 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

For 4.4 goto 2'nd post
This is for JB 4.3.1
If you like me have the problem of : ( wifi + sim_card ) = wifi not working
here is the fix : credits to HTCZ715E
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2368501
but just 1 more step , after making the new "telephony-common.jar" and adb push , and chmod 644
you HAVE TO wipe dalvik+cache
without wipe dalvik+cache it never worked for me.
HTC MyTouch 4G
[ROM] CM-10.2 | AOSP 4.3 Jellybean [KANG] [Oct-11]
cm-10.2-20131011-Albinoman887-glacier

Well heads up to the android 4.4
non of the previous solutions is not working :crying:
today i tried ROM Legacy Carbon 4.4
so i started to use my knowledge about cracking from the old MS-dos ages !!!!!!!!! and i cracked the bcmdhd.ko file
using IDA dissembler and HexEdit the bcmdhd.ko file.
Now wifi works again. :good:
The problem is that , in this method i cannot provide a universal file and you have to make your own cracked driver ".ko" file.
Or the developers of each Rom should use the working source code for the wifi driver which has the complete support for all languages.
refer to this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1077329
and also here are some lines from logcat (i changed my mcc , mnc and country to XX ) with the cracked driver.
(i prefer to use cracking instead of patching because it was previously we called it)
Code:
D/Tethering( 1874): Exception adding default nw to upstreamIfaceTypes: java.lang.NullPointerException
E/wpa_supplicant( 2047): wpa_driver_nl80211_driver_cmd: failed to issue private commands
E/WifiStateMachine( 1874): Failed to set country code XX
D/MccTable( 2051): updateMccMncConfiguration: mcc=XXX, mnc=XX
D/MccTable( 2051): getLocaleFromMcc to null_ir mcc=XXX
D/MccTable( 2051): getLocaleForLanguageCountry: skipping no language
D/MccTable( 2051): WIFI_COUNTRY_CODE set to ir
I/WifiService( 1874): WifiService trying to set country code to XX with persist set to true
D/MccTable( 2051): updateMccMncConfiguration updateConfig config={1.0 XXXmccXXmnc ?locale ?layoutDir ?swdp ?wdp ?hdp ?density ?lsize ?long ?orien ?uimode ?night ?touch ?keyb/?/? ?nav/? themeResource=null}
I/ActivityManager( 1874): Config changes=3 {1.0 XXXmccXXmnc en_US ldltr sw384dp w384dp h615dp 200dpi nrml long port finger -keyb/v/h tball/v s.6 themeResource=null}
The whole problem started from the "wldev_set_country" function in "C" code in a ".h" file of wifi driver.
i don't have the knowledge to manipulate the source code of the wifi driver and compile compile the ".ko" file.

This method is not for pplz who don't know about reverse engineering.
So i opened the "bcmdhd.ko" in IDA disassembler and select the ARM Architecture.
Then searched for the "wldev_set_country" function and in the disassembled code there is some Branches which should be re-routed.
for example: (these are the OP-Codes of ARM cpu)
BNE loc_206E4 in the hex view window "08-00-00-0A"
BNE = Branch if not Equal , (and must have to change to just Branch no matter what is the result of compare )
0A = BNE
EA = B (Branch)
AA = BGE (Branch if Greater or Equal)
..... and etc
The important thing is that in IDA hex-view for examaple it shows : 000206BC 08 00 00 1A
but at the bottom of window it shows: 000206F0 <= this is the address which u needs to find and change in your hex-ediotor
and in hex editor we will change that 1A to 0A
The whole process i re-route 4 branches to get success.
Also i've checked it , and there is no need to appliy the previous patch "telephony-common.jar"
Only the bcmdhd.ko driver needs to patch

I attached the cracked version of my bcmdhd.ko file.
you can try it , BUT IT MAY NOT FOR YOUR COUNTRY AND/OR YOUR SIM CARD and for sure it only works in some Roms
this is the driver version from dmesg
Dongle Host Driver, version 5.90.195.114

i'm root and s=off , HBOOT 75
and flashed, backed up, restored my phone more than 100 times last week . and never lost root

This is my old phone... Fun to be back here.
I am asking about this modified driver. I need to find out first if my phone uses this driver (looks like a broadcom driver), but if it is, I am going to try it.
My question to the author is: do the changes you made make this driver location agnostic? Because you changed the BNE, to just branch, it seems that you are allowing it to function regardless of the country (in the MMC).
I have an HTC One running 4.4 and my issue is that I really need to use channel 13. My router is set to 13, but no matter what changes I make to the wi-fi region encoding (the region encoding change is successful), I still am limited to only channels 1 to 11.
So I just thought I'd ask to get your input on this...
Thanks,
Paul

NOTICE: This update zip is ONLY for mb511, if you want to update, please check your stock rom.
If you use this update zip at charm(mb502), is unstable, mb502 and mb511 still has some different.

NOTICE:If you want update fix zip, you should use bootmenu to update. When boot at motologo, click click and click "vol -" to enter bootmenu.
->because bootmenu executed by mot_boot_mode, so /system can't umount, only can remount.
--and update zip have to modify updater-script, remount /system.
[2013/11/13]:
last update:
Seems we can use the command of telnetd to do emergency rescue.
I write telnetd as shell script. It's only to execute bootmenu, if someone modify mot_boot_mode maybe cause bootmenu can't execute.
The telnetd will execute by eclair's init_mapphone30_umts.rc. But it's only can use bootmenu to execute adb to do some things (ex. modify mot_boot_mode).
These days, I try using 2ndboot, but still freeze on hbootmod, I don't know why we can't execute hbootmod.
I can't find anything solution, and can't get more message.
For me, it's hard to debug, I'm not kernel developer. I try to understand the source code of hbootmod, should stuck on do_branch.
But I still can't get any idea to solve this question.
Hope someone can complete it, let we can use new kernel.
RC version 5 should can be a stable version.
[2013/10/04]:
RC version 5:
Seems when I try fix camera, has incorrect modify of sensors. Fix incorrect modify.
write shell script /etc/init.d/07cphostapconf, copy /system/etc/wifi/softap/hostapd.conf to /data/misc/wifi/hostapd.conf
modify updater-script, clear /data/dalvik-cache. if already upgraded previous version update zip, should can direct flash RC5, skip double wipe.

According to this, use smartass is more stable, thanks edgarsongla.
modify init.mapphone30_umts.rc, set smartass as default and delete cpufreq_interactive.ko.

these steps maybe can reduce reboot times.
disable wi-fi or don't set wi-fi sleep policy at never.
disable Android debugging.
but maybe still has reboot problem. I can't find solution.
[2013/08/28]:
camera:
use and modify CyanogenKobe's configure of libcamera.
fix part of camera. Take picture is normal, solved rotation 90 degree problem. But video recorder still rotation 90 degree.

replace files by upload zip, and delete /system/etc/init.d/02movedevice. Or wait release new version.
fix in preview version 2.
In terms of audio recorder, following information may help:
Flipout uses Sample Rate '16KHz' or "22KHz" to record sound, NOT '44KHz'. This is why flipout cannot use skype >_<. If you guys are using a recorder that uses Sample Rate "44KHz" (which almost all recorders set as default Sample Rate), you have to change the setting.
No phone to test

Sorry guy I can't help
May be I can help to fix this bugs.audio, fmradio, sensors, camera, ril&wifi, look this:https://github.com/xn-Dream/android_device_motorola_sage-1,and you can pm me else.

-- hard decoding still problem, can use some player (like mxplayer) to play with soft decoding.
-- Spirit FM will be no sound.
-- call phone number still no sound.
[2013/04/02]:recompile cm7 with mb508's libaudio.so

Is This QWERTZ?
Should be QWERTY.
There are two files, ruthp0-keypad.kl and ruthp1-keypad.kl.
use this command
"cat /proc/device-tree/[email protected]/[email protected]/name"
My device get ruthp1-keypad.
If you want to use QWERTZ, you can try replace ruthp0-keypad.kl, ruthp1-keypad.kl, ruthp0-keypad.kcm.bin and ruthp1-keypad.kcm.bin.
Get from QWERTZ version.

Hi to all,
Thanks to all that are working on this rom.
Since both models are merged in the same post because the same hardware, I wonder if I can deploy this rom into a Motorola Charm, or if I got to make changes on code, I guess at least have to change some files where refers to 511 to 512, and where refers "Ruth" to "Charm".
What other changes should I do to make this model work?
Thanx for response.
Please help
Please help me, How do i do to work because i have not service,
The problem is SIM NETWOR UNLOCK PIN
Please HELP!!!!
just the key pad related files, I was unable to compile this ROM from source using charm files, I think an update file to replace keypad files with charm should do the trick.
I shall try it and let you know.
there are so many attachments here

Great job, men!

I dont have the Issue and i haven't inserted any SIM Card, it should be enough to reboot without Sim Card.
If you get to Homescreen, use a Root Explorer and edit /system/build.prop, check if
Code:
keyguard.no_require_sim=xyz
is set to "false", if it isn't in there, add it!
Hope i helped :fingers-crossed:
finally installed.is the screen orientation working good?when i flip out the keyboard the screen orientation remains protrait, pretty annoying!anyway great job, never though i'd have seen cm on flipout!love this device, unlike any other

crossbreeder uninstaller

copy them to the sdcard
go cwm wipe cache/dalvik cache install from sdcard-select the CrossBreeder_7.2.13.zip and flash it
reboot device
open the terminal emulator and type and check the codes given on the page
1. VALIDATION and TROUBLESHOOTING:
You can check your DNS boost functionality by running the following command:
Code:
getprop net.dns1
It should report 0.0.0.0
Then to verify Adblock you can select any one host from the blocked hosts file using the command:
Code:
tail /etc/CrossBreeder/dnrd_root/master
Pick one from there and browse to it in your browser. You should get a blank space
If you're experiencing any issues with your tethering, then you can first try and disable the tethering using:
Code:
su -c /system/etc/CrossBreeder/REMOVE_TETHER_BOOST
and rebooting.
You can re-enable it with:
Code:
su -c /system/etc/CrossBreeder/INSTALL_TETHER_BOOST
and rebooting.
Similarly if you're getting any issues with browser not reaching pages etc. then you can try and disable the entire DNS speedup functionality using:
Code:
su -c /system/etc/CrossBreeder/REMOVE_DNS_CLIENT
and rebooting.
You can re-enable it with:
Code:
su -c /system/etc/CrossBreeder/INSTALL_DNS_CLIENT
and rebooting.
Also of note is the Adblock feature. CrossBreeder now uses it's own Adblock file in /etc/CrossBreeder/dnrd_root/master ( NOTE - CHANGED FROM PREVIOUS VERSION). It also serves up these blocks in a clean blank format so you don't get an ugly 'Page not found' error instead of every ad. This is quite unique. If you want to disable Adblock to save around 3 MB of RAM on low end devices, you can run the command:
Code:
su -c /system/etc/CrossBreeder/DISABLE_ADBLOCK
You can re-enable it with:
Code:
su -c /system/etc/CrossBreeder/ENABLE_ADBLOCK
The biggest improvements are in general usability of apps, both local and network based.
2. You can check your entropy values with this tool:
http://play.google.com/store/apps/de...ndentropyavail
or use this method for more fine grained graphs: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=38509664
You should get values moving to 4000 regularly with this mod.
Also of some use is this Lag Test app: Lag Test http://db.tt/eBHYJWYn ( Thanks MW86 ). This is for generally testing the CPU based GUI rendering functionality. The aim is to approach 60 fps, but there isn't a guaranteed correlation with CrossBreeder and your FPS result as of now. It is mostly related to your Governor but CrossBreeder certainly helps.
2. If for some reason, your entropy values aren't hovering around 4096 then the app most probably didn't start automatically. You can try and run it manually using:
Code:
su -c "/system/etc/CrossBreeder/zzCrossBreeder FORCE"
If the entropy values go up to around 4096 and stay there, it's working. CrossBreeder is now in it's separate directory and not dependent on your init.d support. You can make it run automatically on boot using an app like SManager from the Play store, just remember to check both 'BOOT' and 'ROOT' for the execution.
3. If you're still getting issues, you can run the collection script:
Code:
su -c /system/etc/CrossBreeder/CHECK_PROCS
(if it hangs you can close the window and run it again) and post the resultant /data/cb_CHECK_PROCS.log file here in this thread or anywhere else and post here pointing to it please. I will try to find a solution or post a bugfix soon.
You can also disable CrossBreeder if you have any problems using:
Code:
su -c /system/etc/CrossBreeder/DISABLE_CROSSBREEDER
4. If you tried (2) and (3) above and it still doesn't work for you or you would still like to uninstall the mod, then please flash the CrossBreeder_Uninstall.zip.

[Issue] Omni 4.4 wifi can't find network

Hey guys,
I finally built omni 4.4 for Gtab2 10.1
My wifi is turned On, but can't find any network.
I used latest blobs from samsung stock rom 4.2.2 to be sure.
logcat:
http://pastebin.com/xm6un9Tg
During the build process i faced an error :
Code:
out/target/common/obj/APPS/framework-res_intermediates/src/com/android/internal/R.java
out/target/common/obj/APPS/framework-res_intermediates/src/android/R.java
expected "}"
public static final class string-array{ }
^
this is not the exact error code but it was almost this.
To bypass this error i just comented both class, i wonder if this can be related?
thanks
I'd suggest looking at other device bringup commits first.
4.4 requires wifi configuration changes and storage configuration changes.

mmhh still no luck.
I don't have any error message in logcat now but still scanning for network and can't find any.
I based my change on aries bring up commit.
Now my ext sdcard work if i'm root, i may need to change some permission in fstab,
and i add edit this line in init.espresso10.rc
Code:
service wpa_supplicant /system/bin/wpa_supplicant \
-Dnl80211 -iwlan0 -e/data/misc/wifi/entropy.bin [email protected]:wpa_wlan0 \
-c/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf -O/data/misc/wifi/sockets
and if I try to add an ssid by hand i got this error in logcat:
Code:
E/WifiConfigStore( 441): failed to set SSID: "mywifi"
E/WifiConfigStore( 441): Failed to set a network variable, removed network: 0
E/WifiStateMachine( 441): Failed to save network
thanks.
Did you add it, or change the one that was already there?

I add it to try, there is no wifi network, it loop on "searching network"

Do you face this error while building omni? can it be because of my java version? i'm on java 6
finally got it working, it was related in init conf file like you said.
Does someone just know how can I disable hardwar keyboard at first boot?
Because of that keyboard never show up so i have to skip the first settings and disable it in language & input.

Could you precise which mod you did in init conf file ?
Because I've the same problem with a build for Acer A200 : loop on AP scan, no results, no possibilities to configure an AP manually....
Thanks

Fix or remove the broken kernel driver that's reporting a keyboard as being present when it's not.
Another possibility is you're missing KL/IDC files for some input device that is being treated as a hardware keyboard when it's not. (See the galaxys2-common family - the sii9234 or whatever it is IDC file was needed to keep that input device from being detected as a HW keyboard)

i think it's better to ask our questions that are not helping developers to make stable cm12 here, and not post spams on dev thread.
i just want to say : leave developer threads for developers.:good:
ask general questions here.so devs can focus on important things.

How to install cm12 (mrsteve) on sp . by @[SIZE="5"]Dammer Martins[/SIZE]
Small tutorial for instalation of the steves build with working camera and wifi:
1-Download the ROM , ramdix fix, stock kernel and root fix
2-Open the ROM zip an push the ramdisk fiz in to system/bin folder
3-Now, put the ROM zip fixed, stock kernel and the root fix in your sdcard
4-Reboot in recovery, wipe data, cache and dalvik cache
5-Install the ROM, the stock kernel and then the root fix
6-Now reboot the system and wait the phone boot up (this take a veeery long time, trust me )
Tips: don't flash the gapps with the ROM instalation and disable the adaptive brightness to make the auto reboots stop.

Fix connectivity problem on CM12.by @noahvt
Hello,
Finally a fix has arrived for android 5.0 which will allow wi-fi data, outgoing calls, ... to work again
Steps:
1: Make sure your device is running android 5.0 by mrsteve555: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xper...8#post56946968
2: root the device by flashing this file: http://download.chainfire.eu/589/Sup...erSU-v2.16.zip
3: Reboot your device and open up terminal emulator
4: type su, press enter and give it root acces
5: type setenforce 0 and press enter
6: WAIT untill the device asks you to enter your sim pin (this means that it worked)
7: turn on wi-fi (it might take a little long to turn on wi-fi though)
8: that's it
9: well not yet there is one step you can do to make it easier to change the selinux state, Download and install this app:https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....selinux&hl=en
10: again make sure your device is rooted
11: open the app and now you can switch between permissive (this mode is the one that fixed the issues) and enforcing (default mode: wi-fi, ... don't work on this mode)
FAQ:
What is not affected (what doesn't work): The camera (can't connect to camera or hot reboot when launching camera app), more?
What is affected (what is fixed): WI-FI, Data (LTE too) Outgoing calls, more?
Do i have to do this everytime i boot my device: Yes for now you do
On what build does it run: mrsteve555's build, there were 2 reports of it not working on bagy's build

The problem will occur if you do this on first flash as itll take a lot longer to boot and the auto brightness forced reboot will kick in before it finishes. Once system is in and auto brightness disabled then install gapps.
No new about calls?

Navigation bar and Pie controls
I know when I moved from 4.4 to 5.0 most things that I could get from xposed or custom roms were gone such as pie controls. I've been looking around for ages and I've managed to remove navigation bar using build.prop and adding a highly customizable pie controls app. If anyone wants a tutorial made to hide navigation bar and get pie controls just ask and ill do it
Pie
Keep Pie In Memory
1. Search root explorer in Google play 3rd one down.
2. Open it and press mount R/W ( top of app)
3. Go into root directory and open the folder data.
4. Create new file and name it local.prop
5. Long hold the newly created app and press open in text editor.
6. Add com.android.lmt
This is to prevent android removing the service from memory when it is low.
Remove Navigation Bar
1. Open build.prop located on /system
2. Add qemu.hw .mainkeys = 1 Remember to add a space between either side of the equals or it won't work
3.Do not reboot until you have downloaded LMT launcher
Add Pie Controls
LMT Launcher ( PIe Controls (Not an actual launcher like nova or apex its just called that) )
1. Download the latest apk from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1330150
2. Open the app make sure autostart is selected
3. Swipe right until you get to Pie.
4.Use these settings ( navigate to the screenshots) it will get rid of the unneeded two extra slots of pie controls
Finally Reboot
If you have titanium backup convert lmt launcher into a system app to integrate the pie controls more into the system

Why not?
Because the ramdisk inside the zip is either corrupt or incomplete, resulting in bootloop if flashed.

[unofficial][linux3.4][native][tarchive][multirom]ArchLinuxARM release for N7 2013

This is not an Android project so I don't feel that posting it in the Android Development forum would be appropriate.
ArchLinuxARM for the flo (2013 Nexus 7) - Native Boot with MultiROM
This is only tested on the Wi-Fi version. With a kernel swap, it should work on the deb (LTE) tablet, though mobile data is highly unlikely to work.
Big thanks to crondog at github for the initial porting work. https://github.com/crondog/arch-flo
Working:
3D Acceleration (OpenGL ES 3.0, Mesa) - can be unstable, however.
Wi-Fi (with NetworkManager)
Bluetooth
Audio
Installation
MultiROM must already be installed, and you must already have a hardboot-capable kernel installed as well.
You will need a Terminal Emulator or ADB Shell to install.
This assumes that arch_flo_20141210_multirom.tar.gz is in the root of your internal storage (/data/media/0).
Code:
su
tar -C /data/media/0/multirom/roms -xpzvf /data/media/0/arch_flo_20141210_multirom.tar.gz
Logging in
The username is "arch" and the password is "archlinux". Change the password ASAP.
For root, the username is "root" and the password is also "root". CHANGE THE PASSWORD ASAP!
You'll probably want to enable the On-Screen Keyboard (onboard) and set your Session to "MATE" up in the top right corner.

if I activate the onboard keyboard ist shows at the bottom of the login screen. login works without password. when beeing logged in the keyboard is gone. I can see the keyboard symbol on the left besinde the speaker symbol but tapping on it doesn't trigger anything. also changing any options in the control center -> onboard settings have no effects. logging in without keyboard activated and then control center -> onboard settings has no effects either.
I cannot "adb shell" due to lack of permissions
Code:
# adb devices
List of devices attached
???????????? no permissions
and I'm not owning a bluetooth keyboard. so right now I can only play minesweeper - oh wait, it's not installed...
is there any way to rotate the screen as its really annoying having it in portrait all the time

Hi, great stuff!
After installing it, I tried to update arch (
Code:
sudo pacman -Syu
) but this resulted in a blank screen upon boot. I assume that this is due to updated packages overwriting parts of the OS that were installed manually, but I don't know what or where. Would you have any ideas of what packages would be responsible for this, so that I know not to upgrade them?
Thanks!

Make sure you ignore xorg and mesa stuff. Add
Code:
IgnorePkg = glu mesa mesa-dri mesa-libgl xorg-server-common xorg-server-devel xorg-fonts-misc xproto libdrm

to /etc/pacman.conf.
The list probably contains some extra entries, but works for me

Hi castrwilliam, would you mind sharing what step you went through to create arch_flo_20141210_multirom.tar.gz ?
Great work guys! I was looking for this for a really long time and i am writing this on my n7 with linux but i have a few questions:
1. is it possible to overclock(and how) because my n7 runs on 1.89ghz and 477mhz gpu in android with elementalx kernel and it would be nice to have some more power
2. can the screen be rotated so the hardware buttons are on top (i saw a post saying it chrashes but i cant even find the setting xD) because it would be alot easier to use the OTG cable
And thank you guys for making this happen, i love linux on the note 10.1 and im so glad to have this run it too(would be maaad if it can be overclocked )
Thank you for this wonderful package!
I recently updated all packages ) and iam trying to fix the issue without reinstall (challenge accepted)
It seems that the xorg-server 1.17 is the problem. I compiled. Freedreno and the freedreno mesa 10.3 and libdrn packages without success. The xserver is segfaulting when it loads libexa.so.
Now i try to downgrade to 1.16 . ive read that the xf86-video-freedreno-git package is not working with flo. Is that correct? Did youbuild this packages with modificationa?
I believe this is why i love arch. Its like lego for nerds or something

Having my favourite distro on my pocket is very exciting so thank you very much...
I have to carry only a development lamp server so using a pacman tip I revert to a base, base-devel system removing everything about xorg and DE.
Now I connect using ssh but I've noticed that the tablet screen is simply blank: no tty, no text console.
There is a way to have a text only console at boot to make a login (may be using an usb keyboard) when device is not connected?
Hello, I have some trouble when I boot.
config: rastapop 5.1.1 (AOSP based) + last multirom v32A + Kernel w/ kexec-hardboot patch (Stock 5.1.1)
Installing archlinux correctly from the terminal emulator. Load it --> black screen (about 6seconds) --> Google Logo forever
Someone know what I can do for make it work ?
Cool I will give it a try.
