Screen replaced, wifi weak? - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just had screen/digitiser replaced by repair company. Screen wasn't clipped in fully on one side which was worrying (snapped it back in) and now I find wifi reception weaker than it was before, and it can drop in areas it was fine in.
Does repairing digitiser necessitate shifting the wifi wire and could incorrect placing when putting the phone back together cause this issue? Might need to return again.

Yes it can affect the Wi-Fi since the antenna is wrapped around the screen.

Sorry to get off topic but may I ask how much your screen repair cost and who did it? I have one with a broken screen I'd like to have repaired. Thanks.

I see you are in Illinois. This was in the UK with http://sbeglobalservice.com/uk/ at a cost of 122 gbp.

OK thanks anyway.

How would this work?

I know a lot of people are having screen tacking issues, but how would those be handled? Could I send it in to Asus to get it repaired, for a cost? Or would I have to send it to someone else

You have a 1 year warranty.
Anything goes wrong and they must fix it for free, assuming the fault is a result of a design error, or manufactoring defect.
Damage inflicted to the device by the user cannot be warrantied, and is up to the user to repair or replace.
In the case of screen lifting, your warranty will cover it.
As for the warranty procedure, im unsure sorry.

Okay. So will I be able to send it in to repair if it was user error?
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
If I paid money. Thanks
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Im not sure if they're doing paid repairs at the moment, sorry.
If the screen broke you may be able to say it was as a result of the display lifting though.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk 2
Okay thanks. The only concern I have is that thy may be able to say that it is my fault because I messed with the screws trying to fix if

I think unless its just absolutely obviously that you opened the device they will JUST CHECK THE SCREEN then send you a replacement. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE with this tablet..
if you got it from the play store its best to call google and get a rma for it . Do not ask questions do not give information other then screen is lifting up on left side.. NOw if you opened it and broke something else or striped out screw holes. well now then that would be on YOU..
Good Luck
Thanks. Thanks

Gap between top bezel and glass

Is this the way the phone is supposed to be? There's a small gap between the top part of the bezel where it meets the glass. I try to keep my phone clean all the time but there are quite a few lint pieces and grime stuck in that gap. The bottom of the phone is tight. Never dropped it. It is an RMA

I think you can snap it back. Press it gently and it'll close.

As you can see the bottom is tight with no gap. The top has a big enough gap for dirt and debris and no way to get it out.

Definitely not normal, you should probably RMA again if you can't fix it by simple means like the one posted above

I have no gap on the top or bottom, and neither do any of the 5 others I know with N4s so yeah, RMA.
send that gaping gap back, son!
...before you get tiny creature eggs in them
Called google play customer service and started the RMA process. Thanks guys

Not going well with my RMA. This was customer service response :
"Thanks for contacting Google. The*specialists*has informed me that the*gaps are to allow for expansion of the glass due to varying temperature and is an intended part of the design.
If you have any*further*questions please feel free to*respond*to this email."
Can some of you guys take some photos of your phones so I can send this robot? Any other suggestions?

Dude, I think even with photos, you would be hard pressed to change their mind. Cosmetic faults are always put down as subjective and not worthy of replacement. You should have told them that you were experiencing some technical fault i.e. frequent dropped calls.
If you aren't successful this time round, RMA it again with such an excuse...

I have the same issue but my gaps are much bigger and go throughout the whole screen. Dust and stuff goes in it. The front camera has a dark overlay whenever i use it due to all the dust that has gotten in there. I would RMA it but i bought it off a friend and im not sure if they want to accept it.
Here is a picture of a white door that i took outside using the front camera.

Its very dark and it has a weird dark overlay at the top.

Tried another battery? Maybe the usb/charging port is damaged? Or hopefully not worse that needs to be repaired/replaced.

There are several tutorials on Youtube, look there and i hope that helps and that is the defect. The damage could be more severe than just the port. I hope i`am wrong

Good point. Most people seem to have missed this crucial titbit of information.
I think there is no such thing as a waterproof phone. The Xperia Z has increased resistance to water - if and only if all of the flaps are tightly sealed.
Xperia z is horrible phone, touch buttons are part of the lcd so screen looks much smaller than it should, quality of the glass is not very good aswell u gqet very bad looking finger priints all the time! I had xperia z for few days and i can assure u that u will missed ur s4 BADLY M8

anyone havbe any suggestions?
The problem is the two model's screen is not the same. Different resolution and different density.

Just search eBay for a nexus 7 1st gen screen. Also how did you even get the screen to fit they are different connections and different bezel sizes if the screen you fitted actually fits then there is no way its the wrong screen

Well I replaced the cables....it belped a little bit bit not much whats weird is therw are some screens such as the recent apps amd wallpaper screens that dont flicker at all and are perfectly normal. Im kinda out of ideas now. Every cable has been replaced
OK if the screen is consistently OK on some apps and not on others it must be a software problem. Try to get into recovery and do factory reset if that doesn't fix it then flash a new factory image. There are instructions in the stickies

Its not as difficult as it sounds you could use wugfresh NRT it has an unroot and back to stock option that does the same thing as flashing a new image in adb. Have you considered that this may be the reason it was sold broken but with a new screen?

That is a possibly how much do you know about the person who sold you it? I would try to reproduce the fault open one of the apps that doesn't flicker and shake the tablet about. If he has damaged the connection on the motherboard then that will make it flicker. Recovered motherboards for the n7 are not expensive the other possibility is a faulty LCD. I bought a mb for £30 and I think in USA they are even cheaper about $20

I tried applying pressure on various regio s shaking it about etc etc but nothing changed it. Once whe I snapped the back cover on it went normal for a split second but didnt stay. The guy I bought it from was my bud he had recently brome it on a trip to chicago that we were on and didnt want to try and fix it. So here I am....... all cables have bee replaced so im not sureee what to do now I dont believe its a faulty lcd but maybe. Sorry for all the spelling errors
@gears177 OK well that rules out him ripping you off at least my guess would be the connection between the ribbon and the motherboard try contact cleaner on it if that doesn't work then a new motherboard is the next step. Perhaps it was damaged when the screen was broken. It could also be damage to the GPU but that's unlikely as the motherboard is well designed to withstand or absorb shocks

Replacing i9505 vibrator

Seen a video on YouTube, doesn't look too hard but want to be extra safe because I've never opened the s4 ever. So has anyone managed to replace the vibrator without messing anything up and how hard is it?

hi mate,
I replaced a few things on the S4 before never the vibrator , except the LCD/digitizer the rest is fairly easy...of course depends on how skill you are.
to open the body use a guitar pick or a corner of and old plastic card ( credit card type ) to wiggle between both parts of the phone body

Hi
it depends , ebay sells them original and "quality replacement" the link below has them but not for the I9505

but should not be a problem to find it
