[Q] Installing stock rom after Knox is 0x1 - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello all
Last week I flashed my GT-I9505 a CyanogenMod 10.2 and thus voided my warranty (Knox is 0x1).
Now I regret doing it and I wanna badly go back to stock rom and receive Kies and OTA updates from Samsung and so on.
Is there a way to come back to stock rom 4.3 after I tripped the Knox flag and receive updates?
I heard that when you try to flash stock rom after Knox is 0x1 you gonna brick your device.
Please help.
Thanks in advance

Nothing to worry dear you can go back to stock and you will get OTA also and if done properly unroot you will not brick device

Thanks for the quick reply.
I do worry a lot because this device cost me a lot.
What are the steps to unroot safely and goto 4.3 with OTA and KIES updates?
Just as I would do if I were on stock? Put the file in PDA and all the normal steps?
Or do I need to do something extra now?

As you have downloaded cf autoroot now you have to download stock file of your area or location.go to setting see the built version download it from Sammobile site your area built then flash via odin putting that in pda and start odin

I didn't use CF-Autoroot. I installed CyanogenMod on my device using their Installer.

Ok first go to settings then more from there go to about phone, click 10 times on kernel tab you will get developer mode activate then press back key, go to developer mode activate it then debugging mode enable it.then download your area firmware, odin after download put your phone in download mode flash via odin

OK thanks. Now that when I'll go back to stock and get OTA and KIES updates what will the Knox serve for?
I thought having the Knox meaning I can't get back to stock and not receive updates.

knox is so they can see when you send your device in that the warrenty is void.
other than that knox does not bother you (apart from downgrading baseband)

Thanks. So if I do not intend on downgrading baseband and don't have problems with losing my warranty then all is OK?

Good, thanks.
Now I wanted to ask you one more question.
As you know, there are roms which do not include Knox in their bootloader. Examples of these are Phoenix and Arrow roms.
What I wanted to ask is if I decide to install one of these roms which does not include Knox, will it delete the Knox out of my bootloader? And on the next time I will install stock rom 4.3 it will show Knox 0x0 as if it were never there?
Thanks

One vital step has been missed if you want to receive OTA: You must reset flash counter using Triangle Away app.

OK. Can you please answer my latest question?
Will installing one of the roms which does not include Knox will remove the Knox out of my bootloader and on the next time I would install stock rom it will be 0x0?

There are a few unconfirmed reports of people resetting knox, but until its proven i doubt it...
From what is said its impossible to remove, maybe at some point someone will get it cracked, but knox is still new.

Hi,
You should be fine to flash 4.2.2 , if the ROM you are on does not contain the knox bootloader.

If you do not have knox try to revert back to stock.. by downloading stock firmware at SAMobile.com for your handset and country without knox.. and flash via odin..but make sure to reset flash counter first to make it official.. then after send it to the lab..

I wouldn't flash this ROM via ODIN. Some people reported installation failure and KNOX warranty void flags. Fix your Custom status with TriangleAway. Then you will be able to update over OTA, if it is already available for your provider. However, even so, I wouldn't recommend flashing this or updating. It has KNOX so you will not be able to go back if this is buggy, and you will not be able to root without loosing warranty.
Already some ppl has updated in india & reported as buttery smooth.
Can someone tell me if this update has emoji on keyboard?

Yes, it's me.
Well, I'm not sure about raising the counter since I didn't try it myself. Some people reported it. Too early to tell.
It would be logical to make it so that it doesn't raise the flag for the first time. On the other hand, Samsung isn't really logical lately.

Triangle Away should fix the status. You must reastart your phone any give it few minutes. It doesn't always work, but mostly yes. There are also few settings in Triangle Away. Allow tracker to run and System modified workaround. Experiment with those. And remember to leave your phone alone for few minutes before you check the status. There is a reason for that.
It certainly works for me. I'm rooted, and get OTAs.

[Q] Reverting back to stock

Hello everyone,
I have Galaxy S4 GT-I9505 and using CyanogenMod's installer version a few months now.
CyanogenMod's installer has A LOT of problems and I had enough of it and want to go back to stock.
Before I moved to CM I had 4.3 and also Knox bootloader so it went to 0x1 after CM's installation.
I want to ask can I go to stock 4.3 even that my Knox is 0x1?
Do I need to use TriangleAway? If so, how?
I understood that TriangleAway requires Samsung's official kernel but I have the kernel of CM now.
Anyway, what do I need to do?
Thanks in advance

Find your stock rom specifically the one that is your region. If your phone is for example like mine, i9500 XSE which is the first three letters of Indonesia then get that specific stock file.
It's probably around 1.4 gigs. It downloads very slow. After that open Odin flash the stock rom, and your good to go. I've bricked numerous times and all I've done was revert back like this. No problems.
I don't know if you can put the stock rom in your custom recovery and flash it there, I haven't tried it yet just run Odin in administrator mode, insert the stock rom, go into download mode on your phone by pressing - vol and power, then click start.
Wait.
Stock.

I may be wrong on this one but, if you use the auto CF root method I don't think there's a way to use the triangle method.
Therefore you're stuck on Knox. I could be wrong but I'm leaning on 70% being right..

I guess the binary counter is hidden somewhere. And for updates you can get OTA kies updates if you are havin stock recovery. One last thing Triangle away doesnt supports I9500.

I think you're mistaken with the binary counter. If the binary counter wasn't 0 and showed custom in download mode and settings only then I couldn't update via Kies.

Why do you want ota when you can flash via odin?
Use wanam xposed while being on root and change the thing to official (xposed->security) Might work.
Plus see if your custom counts are nil. (That's not possible as of now i think.)

There are not much changes with everytime.
Im on NH4 till date and did not bother to flash things.
If you want to try a rom relating to a particular firmware..you can just flash/update the bootloader of your phone
And most of the roms function on the same firmware. A few of the devs use different bootloaders.
And yes. If youre on an updated bootloader, you cannot downgrade
Rest use wanam xposed to change your value from custom to official. That is the only way I can think of. You need root.
Flash philz. Flash deknox script. Reroot via philz. Use wanam xposed.
Because maybe under settings-->about phone the official thing is set to custom.

Ohh and i forgot to mention.
If an OTA stops in between a flash (very common and frequent). You still need an odin flashable file
And generally samsung sends OTA updates when most of the world is done with the upgrade via Odin. Nobody gets it on day one of release (a few of them are lucky lets not talk about them)
And we know what samsung does to its Indian customers.
(Ive just received OTA twice. One on Note2 when I had it and the other on S4 relating to knox 1.0 to 2.0)
They fool the sh|t out of you at times.

NEW Knox counter? 0x1 (2)

Hello everybody
This is my first thread here in XDA
I've installed 5.0 Lollipop Beta in my N9005 and it works snappy and fast. I've used this build for 3 or 4 complete cycles of battery and it really works very well. Now i've decided to install TWRP an SuperSU to delete some bloatware and in download mode I can see a new number in my Knox 0x1 counter (see pictures attached).
Anybody can explain to me what does it mean? Really it doesn't matter so much to me cause I've tripped my Knox from day one but I didn't know about this kind of counter
Any thoughts?
(sorry for my english)
Nothing on hard or software. Because you flashed a custom recovery you got 0x1 knox. You no longer have warrenty on your device....

Ok I can confirm if you flash a 4 archives KK rom using Odin you "revert" to Knox 0x1
I got the 5.0 TW flashed with odin, used pit and updated bootloader.. I still have 0x1
New flash counter i guess someone alert @Chainfire
I think it's the old "Custom Binary Download" counter that first appeared in the Galaxy S2 (if I'm not wrong). Someone should try Triangle Away to reset that counter. However, 0x1 will still remain active .
Edit: This is what I'm talking about.

This counter only gets started when you try to root or install recovery with Lollipop bootloader.

I think this is not that kind of counter my friend. I've try to reset it with latest version of Triangle Away and it have broke my system. The only solution is to install and comebak to 4.4.2 again. Please don't try that until @Chainfire gets an answer.

Please answer this simple question:
In any moment did you installed Lollipop's bootloader?
Did you install the rom with .pit in Odin?
