You can't have custom recovery on our phone past MDL. Using goomanager set your knox flag, and you can't change that back as of yet. You also can't ODIN back to any previous version. You need to read more before trying anything else because all this information is around here. You have to follow the MJ6-MJ9 instructions to recover that has been linked many times in help threads and others.
I am sure I am not the only one that had this issue but I am on this firmware but could not get motochopper to work. finally ran SafeRoot in Admin mode and it worked. So stoked now. Cant wait to flash Gummy ROM!

Motochopper has been confirmed not working on any firmware past MDL. You can't run Gummy. The loki exploit to let us run custom kernels was patched. Do more reading before you brick again, and check out the General section for a nice list of what you can do on MK2/with Safestrap.
Thanks. That's what I have been doing. I am just tired of touchwiz. I like the raw android better, like my Nexus 10.

If you want something that looks more like AOSP (raw android) then you can flash version 3.6 of Foxhound ROM from the international S4. I'm running it on stock and it's very nice. I chose the essential option in the AROMA installer but the full install might work also.

Everytime i try too flash it, It always FAILS. There is a type of firmware i can use "I9505XXUAMDE_I9505TELAMD8_I9505DVUAMD8_HOME.tar.m d5", But this particular one installs SU, Which i don't want, It also causes several features on my phone to stop working. Such a the clock and i can't even use my wifi.. I have tried several times, Over and over to try and fix it through Odin, But it will not budge, I can load the phone to download mode, But can't get past that. I am now stuck on the upgrade issue screen and i am literally stuck on things to do.. Any help will be appreciated as i am in desperate need to have my phone back too working order! Hi,
Have you tried a firmware upgrade and initialisation with Samsung Kies?
Insert your phone model (GT-I9505)
Pull out your battery and you see on the battery holding place a S/N code, fill that in.
Reboot in Download Mode and follow the steps.
It takes about 30 - 60min. for the reset.
Hope i helped you.
EDIT: YOU WILL LOSE EVERYTHING ON YOUR PHONE.

When Samsung Kies fails, do you get a error message why it has stopped on 70%?

The error comes up with something like "Firmware upgrade failure" Can't remember off the top of my head.
You have new boot loader so you can't flash those older firmwares. If you download the MJ5 firmware from Sammobile it will flash with Odin and you'll be good to go

It worked! Thankyou so much for your help, I highly appreciate it. My phone is now back to stock, And everything functioning!
NOTE: I'M STILL ON 4.2.2
So I've already rooted my device using motochopper and had no issues, but now I'm trying to install a custom recovery to no luck. I prefer TWRP but every time I try to install via Odin it fails with this message:

I've installed the latest drivers and ran ODIN as admin. I tried an older version of TWRP and even ODIN but end with the same result.
When I try via GooManager, it finds the correct version and takes me to the download page, but after the countdown it never downloads and eventually times out.
So then I decided to go CWM via RomManager. It found the correct CWM recovery image and said the install was successful, but when I try to boot into recovery I get the standard Android recover screen with "reboot system" etc.. with the little Android robot with a red triangle coming out of him.
Every method I've tried is failing and I can't figure out why

I'm assuming you are AT&T SGH-i337?
If so, are you using the LOKI'd versions?
If you don't know what that means, I suggest you do a search and some reading.
If you know what it means and have used the correct version, may be someone else can help.
Sounds like nothing is able to write to the recovery partition. You might consider flashing the stock firmware with odin and starting over.

so is there something wrong I may have done to cause this? I wish GooManager would just download and install as I've had luck using it in the past but it won't for some reason.

I'm not sure how much damage you have already done to your recovery partition so you made need to ODIN AMDL stock onto your phone before anything will work. However, here is the TWRP page for this device that also gives instructions on how to install via ADB or Terminal Emulator. Make sure you read EVERYTHING!
http://www.teamw.in/project/twrp2/174
Once you get TWRP working, you can flash a compatible version of CWM if you want to.
For future reference NEVER do anything to your phone that you don't read about here on XDA or at least see that people on XDA have tried it and verified it to work. Most sites (I'm not positive about the one you linked) just copy the information from XDA and claim it is there own. Usually, screwing it up some how. So never trust anything outside of XDA or that isn't directly linked to XDA. An example of something to trust is with the TWRP site. You can trust it as long as you make sure you have the correct information and version for your phone. That is your responsibility.
Also, make sure you search and read before asking questions or advice. Most information is already posted and you need to read about everything you are trying to do to your phone. If you follow these guidelines, you should do OK. If you try to cut corners or not search and read, you will end up in a mess. Good luck.
Hello, I accidentally deleted my systems folder. I was trying to overwrite one file but apparently it deleted my entire system folder, now I cannot use recovery. If I try to go into recovery mode i get "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again."
I tried downloading Kies and updating it through that but I then get the error "the device's version cannot be updated." I have updated KIES to the newest firmware and still get the error.
I have tried adb pushing but my device is unrecognized and does not fully connect to my computer (Kies will just be stuck at "Connecting...")
I have tried installing a stock rom back with odin (ran as administrator), but odin gives me the error:

I managed to fix this! WOW was this such a headache!
after a long time researching, I found out the 4.4.2 update has some sort of updated bootloader that will not let you install older firmware. So I downloaded the 4.4.2 stock rom from www sammobile com
After you download that, i ran it with odin 1.09 and it installed.
My phone went into some weird loop where the samsung logo would come out for 1 second then my phone would vibrate every 2 seconds and not turn on... great another wall...
After more research i found out it could have been a power button issue, luckily it wasnt this, someone had mentioned that if you go into download mode and hold down the power button until your phone reboots you can get out of this "glitch". So this got me out of the glitch and my s4 started up normally!
Right now I am back to stock, I hope this helps out anyone who encounters something similar!

Hey I am also in a similar difficulty. > http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4/help/help-firmware-upgrade-encountered-issue-t2821045
Basically read this above, and tell me what you think I should do. One thing I forgot to add is that when I try to flash a Official Firmware via ODIN, my S4 doesn't really do anything then ODIN would say FAILED, and it would have no affect on my S4 because it just stays on the firmware upgrade encountered an issue part.
[CANADIAN] Odin 5.1.1 Bootloader & TWRP Flashable Modem - SM-G920W8 BOI6 *UPDATED*
Rogers is the only carrier who pushed this update, it was pulled shortly after, due to corruption. I had to spend literally ALL day downloading this. I downloaded it 7 times before i got a OTA zip that passes a CRC check and extracted properly. What a pain in the butt it is i had to convert my Telus device to Rogers fully down to modding the EFS to get this done.
Prerequisit: You must be on a 5.1.1 compatible TWRP as well as a 5.1.1 rom when flashing these packages or your going to get stuck in a binary miss match. While there is a fix for this with out the W8 5.1.1 odin packages, it takes a lot of musical flashing. So be sure to be on a compatible 5.1.1 rom, Kernel and TWRP first.
As always, you flash at YOUR OWN RISK. I will of course try to provide support if I am online, If you appreciate how much the pain in my butt was, and you didn't have to do this your self. Click Donate.
The Bootloader MUST be flashed via ODIN 3.10.X or higher. in the BL slot. Hence why its a tar. Sorry no flashables, Samsung locks the boot loader areas to everything but their own signed recovery, from their own signed update.zip

Yes i flashed it via BL. Whats your actual device.
Worked perfectly for me. So glad to have a working fingerprint scanner on a 5.1.1 custom rom. Thanks

Easiest way to do it is just make sure the Bootloader is loaded on Odin first on your PC then reboot to recovery and flash the modem package, select reboot and choose Download so it reboots to download mode, plug the phone to usb and flash in Odin and you're done!

I'm now getting some new "not enforcing" red text during boot. Is that expected?

My device is G925w8 but its showing G925F in about phone as i am using xtrestolite v2.3
I've been using Arter97's back-to-n0t3 v3 with his 3.5 kernel, SO SMOOTH I lose around 5 to 7% overnight. You guys should give it a try!

that's not for the edge... you could brick your device flashing a non-edge bootloader to an edge one.

This is why, odin is protecting you from your mistake. This is a G920W8 boot loader. It would brick your device if you convinced it to flash some how.
I do not have a G925W8 so i was un able to play musical CSC and FLash to get that OTA before rogers pulled it.
Just as a note guys, the fact that rogers pulled this update. expect all of the Canadian carrier updates to be delayed for weeks now.

holy fuk i shouldn't be doing drinking and flashing :silly: thank you though. appreciate your help...:good:
Thanks Mr. X....Confirmation number: 14Y69764AE724154S a little appreciation of your time. Can I re root and then flash this on my Bell device over 5.0.2? Or should I wait till I get the Bell`s 5.1.1. It has been awhile since I had a Sammy phone. I had a whale of time to get back to stock using Smart Switch and Odin always failed for me. Just want to be able to flash 5.1.1 roms with most stuff working. Thanks again!! My device is the SM-G920W8 Bell S6.

As this is a 5.1.1 boot loader it will require you to be on a 5.1.1 rom. good news is there are many roms to choose from that all work perfect due to my audio patches, and now this boot loader
I would flash TWRP on your 5.0.2 device as it sits, then i would choose your 5.1.1 rom of your liking. Put it all on your storage on the phone except the bootloader tar. Flash the rom, modem and what ever else in TWRP. then in the TWRP reboot options reboot directly to download/bootloader. and odin the bootloader. boot the device normally and you're good!
I do have the rogers ota update zip but i hesitate to distribute it since they pulled it due to bugs, and is uspect corruption ans i had to re-download it several times before it wasn't corrupt from their ota server.
PS: Thanks for the donation!
I am personally running this http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...xtrestolite-deodexed-mod-edition-1-3-t3119968, with the new boot loader and modem. it runs beautifully.
Any international rom with a kernel for our device and my audio patch will work. the rom i link packs it all up in a bow for you no extra work. finger print will also work since this boot loader

Perfect, I was on that rom for awhile with 5.0.2 and some stuff missing..So the best plan is
1. Re Root and Flash TWRP
2. Back up
3. Flash 5.1.1 Rom
4. Flash Bootloader with Odin
5. Flash Modem with TWRP
And then I should be good to go? Where does the Audio patch come in?
Any other suggestions or order to my plan?
Thanks again for your time and hard work!!!
So basically, got phone last night, tried regular rooting, didn't work, read up some more, tried the whole "Root AT&T Galaxy S4 SGH-I337 on I337UCUFNJ4 Firmware" even though my firmware is I337UCUFNJ5 and not 4,anyway,thread told me to flash I337_NC1_Stock_Kernel using the Odin firmware flashing tool.
I did....used towelroot app 3.0,didn't work, needed internet access (yes I got it straight from their site) fond a 2.0 version, used it,says "you should have root,no reboot required" so since I didn't have wifi on the phone,I went right back into odin and tried to use I337_NJ4_Stock_Kernel and flash it using the Odin tool to get back to the stock NJ4 kernel. Didn't work, failed, now I'm STUCK on nc1 kernel with no wifi access... help? please? this is my first rooting and I am legit clueless to most of this.. also how do I even find my boot loader etc?
EDIT: This might not be in the right thread,if so,please move to appropriate thread moderator.

Here is the link for the NJ5 kernel.

Try with different version of odin (the latest is 3.10 I think), use different usb port, use different usb cable.
Did you load your file in the AP (auto partition) slot?
