LG On-Screen Phone - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

is anybody using it through USB? i installed it and run once and everything went OK. the next day the phone can't connect to it. tried reinstalling LG drivers / On-Screen Phone software, no effect. looking at the running apps LGOnSreenPhone or PC Suite UI are not running in the background nor do they start upon connecting the cable/selection LG Software in Connection Settings either. i remember greenifying LGOnSreenPhone and PC Suite once but removed them from Greenify since then, not sure if that could cause any issues. any advice would be appreciated.

Strange?? I went to member download but only sees manual. Any idea where do I find it?
disappointed
I screamed in joy when I saw the USB Sync patch but only ended up crying in tears after installing it. I am still faced with the "need to soft-reset after 1st ActiveSync" problem.
Anyone has this problem solved???

Agreed... But the USB Switch is still useful, cause now syncing is instantanous, although I repair the ActiveStync instead of soft reset, cause even a Hard Reset doesn't work...

Cannot Install Windows Mobile remote adapter (WMDC) Error 800F0204

I have recently installed Windows Vista on my computer and hooked up my also newly formatted PDA HTC TyTN with WM6 and as usual i cannot get them to work together, even speak. This by usb cable.
As i connected it to Vista it popped up asking me for a driver which i chose to install when Windows update said there was an update for it.
Error messages included:
This is my greeting message as soon as i start my computer and login to Vista:
http://www.premier69.com/images/stories/Capture.JPG
Installing the driver like Vista want to:
http://www.premier69.com/images/stories/Capture1.JPG
And the not so helpful error message:
http://www.premier69.com/images/stories/Capture2.JPG
If any of you would like, in order to help i can allow remote controlling of my computer.
I will offer compensation via paypal for anyone who will take the time to remote connect to my computer and fix my problem, i have been trying for a very long time now and i cant figure it out.
we can discuss level of compensation but be aware i am by no means rich.
If I understand u, try this
1- donlod Window device center from here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...f1-e46a-4a5f-a791-09f07aaa1914&displaylang=en
choose for Windows Vista (32-bit) or (64-bit)
& let me know
I have already tried that, i downloaded the x64 version for my vista installation and i start the install file, the progressbar loads fully then retracts and the installations program self-closes. no messages or anything.
i am serious when i say i am really stumped by how my system is acting...
try installing WMDC in safe mode, sounds like a file permissions problem
yup i tried that too, it didn't even open the installation wizard.
Got same problem - fixed with changing registry permissions
hi guys,
i was battling with this for a few days after a reinstall of my laptop. updated to vista sp2 and there you go, couldnt sync and got the error.
after mucking about i saw there were some access denied errors for the registry. this is what i did to fix it:
registry key in question:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Svchost\WindowsMobile
- Right click -> Permissions -> Advanced
- Took owner ship of the registry key
- Gave the Users group Full Control.
Then in device manager:
- Uninstalled my Microsoft Mobile Remote Adapter
- Scan hardware changes
and then it installed properly and am able to sync again
aj
thank you
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
i have been in this issue since 2 days, and what got me crazy after i have read your post that I'm the one who restricted the access to this registry using a domain policy(I'm a network administrator) for security reasons, but i don't know why i didn't got it @ first.
I granted my self the permission and it was able to install the drivers and letting WMDC starts.
thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu again and again and again.

ActiveSync 4.5 Problem

Hi everybody!
I'm having some trouble connecting a pocket pc to my pc. I'm getting the following error message from activesync when I try to establish a partnership connection:
"Cannot verify the version of ActiveSync on your device. A program such
as a firewall may be blocking a port ActiveSync uses to connect to the
device, or you may need to upgrade to a more recent version od
ActiveSync on the PC"
Even if I try to cardle a virtual pocket pc (visual studio) I get the above message.
I'm using activesync 4.5 on a windows xp service pack 3 pc. Installing AS 3.8 would solve the connection/partnership problem but I must use AS 4.5 because Visual Studio does not except older versions of AS.
I've tried so far everything: allowed all ports needed for AS (even deactivated the firewall) - I tried to delete the partnership folders but found out that they haven't even been created by AS.
Even google couldn't really help me: most people get this error message because they have installed a HSDPA usb modem driver from hauwei. But I did not.
does anyone have a solution for this strange problem?
thank you in advance!
I have the same problem. I once got into it through My Computer but since then I've had no luck whatsoever!
You have exactly the same problem?
if you're not using visual studio just install active sync 3.8 as mentioned above. But I found an uggly solution: Cardle you pocket pc - you will get the regular error message. then open the taskmanager and kill the process rapimgr.exe and restart it again (C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync)
Uncardle and recardle the pocket pc again - you will get a critical error message but it can be ignored. Now you will be able to accees your data.
To deploy your software on pocket pc with visual studio you might restart the remote rocedure call locator (Control panel -> administrative tools -> services)
hope I could help you! but I'm really not satisfied with this solution. I'm open for better ways to solve this problem.

Level 100 HTC Rose - Windows 7, WM 6.5, Bootloader & ROMs

I am beginning the process of documenting all things HTC Rose, rather than pointing to how other utilities & processes work for other phones and SHOULD work for this one. Everything I post here will be Rose-Specific, and I hope it helps. I am using the most extreme environment, including Windows 7 as the host PC, WM 6.1 on the phone...all other OSs should be cakewalk if my stuff all works. Coming very shortly (this weekend) will be:
- App Unlocking
- Entering Bootloader Mode
- Working with Windows 7 & WMDC (6.1 vs. what comes with Win7)
- Known ROM Images & FYIs
- Dumping a ROM for backup purposes
- Reloading a dumped ROM for restore purposes
- Tweaking your ROM for personal use only
How to enter Bootloader Mode (Tri-Colour)
- Turn off your HTC S740/S743 (either by removing battery or turning off)
- Hold down the VOLUME UP button (keep it held down)
- Turn on the phone using normal POWER button (no need to hold the power button...just a normal push and release)
- Phone will enter Tri-Colour/Bootloader Mode
example: my HTC S740, purchased as non-US phone, shipped with WWE Asian ROM (Hong Kong) via Expansys shows the following:
- ROSE 100
- SPL-1.54.0000
- MicroP-Rose (LED) v10
- MicroP-Rose (KEY) v5
- PCBID 0x80
- RID 0x0
WMDC and Windows 7 Pre-Release
By default, Windows 7 will ship with an integrated version of Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC). The challenge most people have with getting this to work with their phone is this "not really WMDC 6.1, not a fully-finished Win7-WMDC" version. To get around this, keep in mind there are two primary scenarios when connecting a device to Windows:
1) Connect WM device to WMDC for the purpose of "syncing stuff" (aka USB Connected)
2) Connect WM device to WMDC for the purpose of low-level tasks (aka USB Unchecked)
*NOTE: the easiest, fastest and most accurate way to get all of this to work on Windows 7 is to do the "remove WMDC" steps in #1 below, and instead of working with your existing phone, simply do a Clear Storage, let the phone reset, and plug it in with a fresh WMDC. This just simply works, but I know not everyone is willing to reset the device....
To achieve #1, I suggest the following:
- Go to Add/Remove Programs and Uninstall WMDC (application AND Driver Update)
- From an administrative-cmd line, execute
reg delete HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SQMClient\Windows\Disabled Sessions /va /f
- Go in Device Manager and remove any reference to a mobile device or RNDIS adapter. Reboot.
- On your device go to SETTINGS, then to CONNECTIONS, then the USB TO PC icon. Make sure the ENABLE ADVANCED NETWORK FUNCTIONALITY is UNCHECKED
- Manually delete the contents of the C:\Windows\WindowsMobile folder
- Delete the contents of the following Registry Keys:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\PartnersHKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows Portable Devices\Devices- Using Windows Explorer, delete all files in the folder C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles
- Reboot your Win7 PC, ensuring the phone is NOT CONNECTED during reboot
- Install WMDC 6.1 from the Microsoft Download site (this ensures you are running WMDC 6.1 ON Win7 vs. Win7WMDC on Win7)
- Reboot your phone
- Open WMDC 6.1 on your PC
(Optionally....just do a Clear Storage on your phone a listed in the NOTE above to ENSURE this works simplest...if you have the option)
- Plug your phone in via USB, preferrable to a USB port NOT used prior....if possible
- Windows should reinstall your device drivers without failing and WMDC should connect ok this time
To achive #2, I suggest the following:
- Perform the steps in #1 first, to get WMDC installed properly
- Open WMDC & disable ALLOW USB CONNECTIONS
- Turn off your device
- Enter Bootloader Mode using VOLUME-UP + POWER ON
- Win7 should detect and install the additional drivers for NON-USB mode (separate from the standard sync device drivers WMDC normally requires)
it`s sounds ok
- App Unlocking
- WM 6.5
i`m waiting ...
would be nice.
can't imaging this is much different from the HTC touch 3g
Good stuff! I have my S743 app-unlocked with the old SDA-unlocker tool.
I remember that when the WM 6.1 wa about to be released the standard version was available way before the Professional... Anybody has any idea what non touch screen WM 6.5 is going to look like ?? and when we can exxpect it? Because the ROse is capable of running it I am sure...
For any rom development need hardspl

For my S22HT (ROSE110), to enter bootloader mode it's:
1. Phone off
2. Hold down VOLUME DOWN key
3. Keep holding VOLUME DOWN and press POWER until it turns on

[WINDOWS APP] Galaxy S Toolbox v1.0.0.0

This tool is designed in order to support our Galaxy S.
I just introduced some few features in this version; I hope to add more in the future. If you have some idea you're welcome.
INSTRUCTIONS:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Open the tool and connect your phone; You can launch the tool also if your phone is already connected.
- Supported connection is Kies one (MTP).
- Once connected tool will show you the Phone informations reading them from the phone directly (this tool doesn't use registry to retrieve data).
- Using menu "Mode > Change to Download" is possible to send your phone in download mode.
NOTE:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you would like to test the download mode without using it to upgrade, the only way to return back to Normal mode is to put battery out and insert it again.

Great idea, going to test it
what is in there?
What's this do better than what MyPhoneExplorer does perfectly already?
Well,
You can check informations like product code without to install SGS toolbox.
By the way this was most like an exercise for me
