Cannot Install Windows Mobile remote adapter (WMDC) Error 800F0204 - Networking

I have recently installed Windows Vista on my computer and hooked up my also newly formatted PDA HTC TyTN with WM6 and as usual i cannot get them to work together, even speak. This by usb cable.
As i connected it to Vista it popped up asking me for a driver which i chose to install when Windows update said there was an update for it.
Error messages included:
This is my greeting message as soon as i start my computer and login to Vista:
http://www.premier69.com/images/stories/Capture.JPG
Installing the driver like Vista want to:
http://www.premier69.com/images/stories/Capture1.JPG
And the not so helpful error message:
http://www.premier69.com/images/stories/Capture2.JPG
If any of you would like, in order to help i can allow remote controlling of my computer.

I will offer compensation via paypal for anyone who will take the time to remote connect to my computer and fix my problem, i have been trying for a very long time now and i cant figure it out.
we can discuss level of compensation but be aware i am by no means rich.

If I understand u, try this
1- donlod Window device center from here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...f1-e46a-4a5f-a791-09f07aaa1914&displaylang=en
choose for Windows Vista (32-bit) or (64-bit)
& let me know

I have already tried that, i downloaded the x64 version for my vista installation and i start the install file, the progressbar loads fully then retracts and the installations program self-closes. no messages or anything.
i am serious when i say i am really stumped by how my system is acting...

try installing WMDC in safe mode, sounds like a file permissions problem

yup i tried that too, it didn't even open the installation wizard.

Got same problem - fixed with changing registry permissions
hi guys,
i was battling with this for a few days after a reinstall of my laptop. updated to vista sp2 and there you go, couldnt sync and got the error.
after mucking about i saw there were some access denied errors for the registry. this is what i did to fix it:
registry key in question:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Svchost\WindowsMobile
- Right click -> Permissions -> Advanced
- Took owner ship of the registry key
- Gave the Users group Full Control.
Then in device manager:
- Uninstalled my Microsoft Mobile Remote Adapter
- Scan hardware changes
and then it installed properly and am able to sync again
aj

thank you
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu
i have been in this issue since 2 days, and what got me crazy after i have read your post that I'm the one who restricted the access to this registry using a domain policy(I'm a network administrator) for security reasons, but i don't know why i didn't got it @ first.
I granted my self the permission and it was able to install the drivers and letting WMDC starts.
thank youuuuuuuuuuuuu again and again and again.

Qtek S200 Active sync not working Drivers needed

Hello all,
I have bought qtek S200 recently and i have spent a lot of man hours trying to get this thing to sync with my desktop computer. it works fine with my laptop however doesn't want to sync with my desktop.
I get an new hardware wizard when i plug my pda into the USB requests for me to point to the drivers because windows was unable to find drivers.. I have gone through troubleshooting steps where disabling firewall / ant virus. Uninstalling active sync reinstalling / downgrading active sync and upgrading no luck. doesn’t matter if i try 3.8 or 4.2 it doesn't want to recognize my device and asks for the drivers.
i have windows xp with service pack 2 installed. so at this point i am wondering if someone has the driver files for it ? or what should be next step, any help would be appreciated.
Don't even try with activesync 3.8. It doesn't support WM5. Use 4.1 or 4.2...
Can't help beyond that...
I tought I had tried everything as well, when I found this utility over at Modaco (apparently included in the latest Dopod ROM).
Install and switch from RNDIS to Serial using the program and voila - worked like a charm for me!
Hope it helps!
After fighting with this device and my system for about 2 weeks. i noticed that my system had become so unstable that it wont' accept any new hardware. I tried installing a new 3COM network card and mostly 3com NIC's dont' require drivers however my system poped a window stating can't find drivers and put the device in system not working properly status.
so then i decided to format my computer and after the format, installed service pack 2 for xp and tried ACTIVE SYNC. without a problem it worked fine.

Generic RNDIS Drivers not found & other Problems

Hello,
Just upgraded my 8525 to the latest and greatest ROM. Well ... greatest should really be within quotes!!!
I'm having 2 problems ...
#1) I cannot use my phone thru DUN. I select Internet Sharing. Disable ActiveSync on my PC. Select PC Connection as USB and Network Connection as My ISP GPRS. When I connect the USB cable, I immediately get a message box that New Hardware has been found (Generic RNDIS). Windows (XP-SP2) then prompts me to install the drivers. I click Next but it does not find them and throws an error that Drivers could not be found. I've searched the internet and HTC sites in vain, but cannot find anything that helps.
#2) When I connect my device using ActiveSync (4.5), I cannot get the device to use ActiveSync as a pass-thru for the internet. This results in any calls made to the internet to fail.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm back on the road on Tuesday and need to get this resolved.
Thanks

Mike,
I had tried that earlier today but it did not work. I unzipped the file and pointed the "Find New Hardware" wizard to that directory location. When I click Next it searches and finally returns with "The hardware was not installed because the wizard cannot find the necessary software".
I'm confused. Aren't the Remote NDIS drivers part of the ActiveSync install? What am I missing here?

I have exactly the same problem, and I still didn't find any solution
I have exactly the same problem, and I still didn't find any solution
I also have the same Problem but a different situation
I would like to tether with my phone which I can do with no problem on most computers. However I have a corporate laptop that I cannot install activesynch on...So i just need the driver to install when I connect my phone via USB.
So i get the same error as the guys above me...so any fix to this problem that does not involve installing activesync would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance

Hi everybody,
Yesterday I had the same problem, but I resolved it.
First, install Activesync 4.5.
Second, when you plug your device and it ask you for the driver generic RNDIS driver, you can choose the place of this driver (don't choose automatic).
So point the "Find New Hardware" wizard to that directory location :
C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\Drivers
Then Ok (or next I don't remember)! After windows'd install alone the good driver.
Enjoy your synchronization!
Bye bye
Upgrade ActiveSync

When I used ActiveSync 3.7, this version can not recognize Generic RNDIS. I’d upgrade this version into ActiveSync 4.5, its work.

Generic RNDIS Error for Windows 2003
Hi Guys,
I am also facing the same problem but I am using windows 2003 server.
I am using HTC Touch phone. Please help me out with some solutions.

I had this same problem with my HTC Touch Cruise. Here's what solved it:
Go to Settings > Connections > USB to PC
Uncheck Enable advanced network functionality
Then the computer sees your mobile and sync begins (at least for me).
Something worth trying...
If you look at the driver settings for "Windows Mobile Device" under WinXP it shows a file called:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\rndismpx.sys
I'm wondering if the rndismpx.sys file is all one needs to use to install the driver so that WinXP will see the WM phone as a viable device and therefore allow you to use it's Internet Connection Sharing function to give the PC a data connection to the net?

Ok I too had this problem, and refuse to use active sync as it always muck up my special clock settings. This is what fixed it for me.
As i DO have active sync installed on my desktop system, and taking the advice of the persom who posted above, i just copied the "DRIVERS" folder onto a disk (From \Programme files\Microsoft Activesync), took that to the laptop i needed to install on, and installed the driver manually, pointing to the DRIVERS folder on th CD i just made. All installed, and "Pinging" nicely!

ActiveSync 4.5 Problem

Hi everybody!
I'm having some trouble connecting a pocket pc to my pc. I'm getting the following error message from activesync when I try to establish a partnership connection:
"Cannot verify the version of ActiveSync on your device. A program such
as a firewall may be blocking a port ActiveSync uses to connect to the
device, or you may need to upgrade to a more recent version od
ActiveSync on the PC"
Even if I try to cardle a virtual pocket pc (visual studio) I get the above message.
I'm using activesync 4.5 on a windows xp service pack 3 pc. Installing AS 3.8 would solve the connection/partnership problem but I must use AS 4.5 because Visual Studio does not except older versions of AS.
I've tried so far everything: allowed all ports needed for AS (even deactivated the firewall) - I tried to delete the partnership folders but found out that they haven't even been created by AS.
Even google couldn't really help me: most people get this error message because they have installed a HSDPA usb modem driver from hauwei. But I did not.
does anyone have a solution for this strange problem?
thank you in advance!
I have the same problem. I once got into it through My Computer but since then I've had no luck whatsoever!
You have exactly the same problem?
if you're not using visual studio just install active sync 3.8 as mentioned above. But I found an uggly solution: Cardle you pocket pc - you will get the regular error message. then open the taskmanager and kill the process rapimgr.exe and restart it again (C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync)
Uncardle and recardle the pocket pc again - you will get a critical error message but it can be ignored. Now you will be able to accees your data.
To deploy your software on pocket pc with visual studio you might restart the remote rocedure call locator (Control panel -> administrative tools -> services)
hope I could help you! but I'm really not satisfied with this solution. I'm open for better ways to solve this problem.

HTC Sync install problem & no PC Sync

Second day with my Hero and really like it so far, but;
When I tried to install HTC Sync, near the end of the install, I get,
"Generic Device Management Executable has encountered a problem and needs to close",
and wants to send a report to Microsoft, after dismissing the first one another one the same comes up, then after the install I get;
"Unable to create a device manager instance".
When I try to Sync with the PC, HTC Sync won't find the phone.
I've tried the HTC Sync that came with the phone and the latest from the HTC website with the same results.
I'm running Windows XP Home, fully up to date, anti-virus is disabled during the installation.
I have spent the best part of eight hours today searching this site and googling the problem, I've found people with the same or similar problems and still can't get it to work.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I have the same problem, tried uninstalling/reinstalling both versions, but the problem still exists.
I am also running Win XP SP3.

Me too. XP SP3.
Speaking directly to HTC gave no answers, and I gave up as I don't need to sync to outlook.
Im having problems getting HTC 2.04 to work after update.
C:\Program Files\HTC HTC Sync\Application launcher\Application Launcher.exe
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.
And no it didn´t, tried it. Has tried remove and afterwards reinstall, but still not. Connection to USB is working, but can´t sync.
Just for info, I emailed HTC yesterday and got a reply back today. I tried it, but it didn't solve the problem, good customer service from HTC though.
I've pasted it (as sent) if anyone wants to try it, god luck.
"please try the following on you PC. STart, sun, msconfig, services, "hide all Microsfot Services" then "disable all", start up, "disable all", apply, close and reboot. Try the install again in this mode with no internet connection plugged in (as your AV will be fully shut down). If this works, you can reenable evertyhing, start, run, msconfig, normal startup, apply close, and reboot."
Lol, looks like a bold move
But good idea with the services, maybe we can narrow it down.
Do you have Itunes installed? Just a wild guess now as I have it installed, maybe the Apple Sync conflicts with HTC Sync.
Im not sure if that im able to do the services thing, but i will try.
No itunes is not on, but at home im using Vista 64 with itunes and its working!
Hmm, didn´t work for me.
Hope that HTC will come with an update.
For now im using CompanionLink to sync between Lotus Notes and Google Calendar, but it will only work for 2 weeks, then i have to pay.
Didn't work for me either. I tried disabling all not needed services.
@SharDK Do you have the problem in Win XP SP3 too?
@Lupus77
Yes its Win XP Sp3
Sry i wrote fail in my nick, its Shark, but nevermind
New reply from HTC.
"Are you able to try again in Safe Mode? "
Tried but still no good.
Is anyone here who got the HTC Sync working with Win XP SP3?
Phone not being recognized by the HTC Sync program
I had no problem installing the HTC Sync software BUT it does not recognize my phone. Yes I am running Windows XP Service Pack 3. I have read the manaul carefully and done everything they say, including enabling USB debugging. But to no avail. I also have tried both the new and old versions of the software.
PLEASE HELP!! I need to update my ROM
Weird, since before upgrae i had no problem connecting to sync either in Vista nor Xp SP3.
But after, then XP SP3 gives problems.
@Salmanbodla
When you connect to XP with USB, do you mount the SD card!
If you can here´s driver for XP http://www.pdauser.dk/files/driver.zip
When you connect, go to Device manager and look for ADB and try update the driver. Even try connect the Hero 2-3 times mounting the USB, that way i got the ADB in device manager. But then Sync failes, but had no problem before update.
I wrote HTC yesterday, so hoping that they will come with a solution.
Now they returned an email, writting to me that since i have a Danish Win XP, i have to install sync in Program Files/HTC/HTC sync
Im sry but im not using a Danish XP, so therefor its in the right place already.
Looks like HTC ´dosn´t have a solution for sync, very bad, since i have to use it to sync Lotus Notes at work.
Latest from HTC. Want NFO logs.
Latest Email from HTC:-
"HI STephen,
We are trying to replicate this issue here, are you able to send us the NFO logs?
Many hanks
MIke"
It's nice to see they have an interest in the problem.
Now the question. How do I send them the NFO logs? I'm a bit lost here.
Just wanted to add my "me too". I'm experiencing the same problem.
It used to work but since I reinstalled XP (serious crash) I get this error when trying to start HTC Sync:
C:\Program Files\HTC HTC Sync\Application launcher\Application Launcher.exe
This application has failed to start because the application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

I cant get HTC sync to work on Windows VIsta. Had Hero for 2 weeks. But cannot connect with HTC sync. I only need this for ROM upgrade... not for syncing.
Stephen did you get an answer from the htc support.
I have the same problem.
Has anyone had luck fixing the issue with HTC Sync refusing to run because 'the application isn't configured properly'?
It worked fine for me about 2 weeks ago with Win XP Service Pack 3, but doesn't anymore. I'm not entirely sure what I've changed since. I went on Windows Update and downloaded these patches (Update for Root Certificates [September 2009] (KB931125), Security Update for Windows Media Format Runtime 9, 9.5 & 11 for Windows XP SP 3 (KB968816), Security Update for Microsoft XML Core Services 4.0 Service Pack 2 (KB954430), Security Update for Windows XP Service Pack 3 (KB952069), Security Update for Windows XP with Windows Media Format Runtime 9.5 and 11 (KB941569)); I changed which SATA port on my mobo the hard drive connected to; and that's about all I know of. Everything else would have been using programs already installed, which I had used before trying to use HTC sync.
I'm not sure which version of HTC Sync I used before, as it may have been the one on the SD card when the phone shipped, or it could have been downloaded from the website. It was probably the one on the SD card. Yesterday I tried uninstalling it after the error message and reinstalling v2.0.4 downloaded from the HTC website, but still no luck.
So, has anyone had any success with this?

[Q]WP7 + Chevron connection issue

After following the normal guides, this is what I have completed so far using Windows XP SP3:
1) Install Zune
2) Install the certificate file on the phone + regedit the PC
3) Connect the phone to the PC
4) Zune finds the phone and is able to connect
5) Chevron opens, I tick the two boxes, but then errors with 'I am unable to communicate...'
To resolve I have tried:
Ensuring hosts file is not read-only
Delete any entries for windowsphone in hosts file
Put phone into airplane mode
Run chevron as administrator
Disable all A/V and F/W
Disable all network adapters / wireless etc
Can anyone suggest anything else to resolve?
You DEFINATELY need to install Windows phone 7 SDK- i had the same issue, i could resolve it by installing the SDK.
But that can only be installed on windows vista/7 right? Not on XP
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=914596
excellent, thankyou kind sir. Will give it a go. Apols for not searching hard enough!
ah,
That didn't work. YOu need the developer tools installed before you can install this and that needs windows vista/7 anyway.
RIght, have finally managed to install everything. Still no working
64bit WIN 7
Is the chevron7.exe working on 64bit WIN7 or only on 32bit version?
I give up..
Have installed Zune and developer tools, spent all day on this and I'm no futher. Chevron does not work.
For me too.. Chevron doesn't work.
I have the same problem. I got it unlocked, locked it again and now i can't unlock it anymore

Hi,
Make sure you don't forget this one:
(you need to close skype and disable network adapter.. hamachi.. wireless.. etc)
windows phone sdk is the Microsoft Visual Studio Express for Windows Phone?
I finally managed to unlock!
This probably won't help the people who can't re-unlock, but the final issue at my end was that I was using a web proxy. The Zune service uses the domain defaults for proxy settings (which, for me, is set to automatic discovery). I noticed with Process Monitor that most http requests from Zune went through the Privoxy proxy on my server. (Which of course, does not know about how ChevronWP7 redirects developerservice.microsoftphone.com to the fake local service.)
After disabling the proxy and rebooting (to make sure the Zune *service* (not the app) picks up the change), ChevronWP7 worked as advertised. Note, however, that I needed to click "Unlock" twice - the first time I got the usual connection error.
I hope this helps someone!
I think that I´m going to have to give up on WP7. At least untill they come out with a better chevron. I´ve been working on this since WP7 first was announce on DFT´s website.

I gave up.. however I then used another Windows Vista PC (instead of my windows XP SP3) and all worked fine.
