Your best bet is to go into download mode and flash the official stock
firmware for your phone which you can find at http://sammobile.com
There are other ways of doing it but the other ways may not work for you.
After doing that you will need to root your phone if you want it rooted.
Good luck!

thanks you
how can i choose the firmware...i think i have something with mj7 .can you help me with the steps tha i have to do?
i had before the s3 and it was so easy to root i confuse with s4 a little bit couse i'm not expert

@Jouk1981 Cheers you been a great help thanks
First i would check if you have a non knox bootloader. Uf you dont have knox... dont update to 4.3 but root and flash 4.3 rooted rom without knox.

You lost me lol the only reason I wanna use a custom rom is to get better audio quality.
I think I will leave rooting just in case I mess up thanks anyway lads.

[Q] need root

I want to root my samsung galaxy s4 i9500 on android 4.3 (mk9) WITHOUT TRIGGERING KNOX AND WARRENTY BIT......just need root, cwm is not that important just want to keep knox and warranty bit as zero earlier I usedkingoapp but now it is not supported
After having my original non-knox s4 replaced under warranty, ive now been given a mk9 4.3 i9505 and in the same situation.
Can anyone confirm if its possible to root without triggering knox?

Thanks mate, gosh i didnt think to look into other i9505 sections. XDA information seems somewhat all over the place sometimes. I can confirm its working. Running root without any KNOX triggers.

I think you have to correct yourself my friend coz rooting doesnt void the warranty Its the bootloader unlocking which does.
Now for those who want to flash new roms other than stock , must unlock bootloader and ofcourse one hast to root the phone to do so.
But for those who just want to root and wish to run apps like apps to sd, lucky patcher, freedom app etc need not unlock their bootloader . they can regain their warranty just by unrooting the smartphone

Okay so you try it...but even after unrooting(really is there a way to unroot?)when to go to updates in settings...you wont be able to update your device...also in odin mode, warranty will show void..
I have tried it, that's why I'm telling you actually in some of the threads I have observed that bootloader relocking can also be done
One more Way to regain the warranty : Just flash the stock firmware and then you are done???? But ha don't forget to erase all thing I.e wipe data and dalvik cache.

[Q] Need Help Please

Hey I need some help with my Samsung Galaxy S4 from Cricket (sch r970c). I would like to root my phone but don't know if I have to unlock the bootloader first. If I have to unlock it first, how tf would I do that? Is Knox a problem (I don't know if I have it and I don't know how to check)? Once that is done what is the safest way to root my s4? Any help would be appreciated. My s4 is running 4.4.2 btw in case the helps with the Knox thing.
Oh and where do I go on XDA for this model?

No unlocked bootloader needed for this guide? I'm worried because the CF Auto Root website has the info in the images attatched. How do I found out if I have the Knox thing? And, still the same question, how to I unlock the bootloader?
