Hey I need some help with my Samsung Galaxy S4 from Cricket (sch r970c). I would like to root my phone but don't know if I have to unlock the bootloader first. If I have to unlock it first, how tf would I do that? Is Knox a problem (I don't know if I have it and I don't know how to check)? Once that is done what is the safest way to root my s4? Any help would be appreciated. My s4 is running 4.4.2 btw in case the helps with the Knox thing.
Oh and where do I go on XDA for this model?

No unlocked bootloader needed for this guide? I'm worried because the CF Auto Root website has the info in the images attatched. How do I found out if I have the Knox thing? And, still the same question, how to I unlock the bootloader?

Thanks mate, gosh i didnt think to look into other i9505 sections. XDA information seems somewhat all over the place sometimes. I can confirm its working. Running root without any KNOX triggers.

Im sorry mate , I know only how to root the phone without triggering your knox but if you flash any custom rom, im sure that your knox will get void ?!? Like i said im still on oldbootloader and Please feel free to read more about here .
OK so I have looked everywhere to find out which method is ok to run on the vz version of the note 3 running MJE. I think I find my answer and then people start talking about a different model of the note 3. So I figured the best way to find out is just ask.
How do I root without tripping the knox security? I'd like the option to flash my own roms, but have been able to figure out on my own that flashing a custom recovery will trip xnox. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Right now Kingo can be used to root mje build without tripping Knox. I have heard some guys having success with older versions of Kingo.
The only recovery available is safestrap. Since our bootloader is locked down. Safestrap and flashing roms for safestrap will not trip knox either.
Also heard guys using Vroot to root mje.

This is what I had assumed from what I read I just wanted to hear it for sure, directly for our device. Thanks a ton!!

Actually thanks for this thread, I was wondering the same thing. If I could add to it, is it possible to unroot and go back to complete stock if need be?
There are instructions on how to unroot back to stock but like everything else can't conform it is for this model. Thank you vz and Samsung for making crap difficult!

Yeppers! Flashing the stock image with odin will wipe all traces of root and safestrap, and return your phone to normal.

I was wondering, is there a locked boot loader on the Rogers Samsung Galaxy S4 (Canadian Version)?
I am wondering this because if I go to root my phone, it could brick it, and I wouldn't like that....
So, please help. Thanks.

to the best of my knowledge, it is the ATT version that has the locked bootie. You should be able to easily root your device using this file.
good luck!

Okay, I was just wondering because if i do root my phone, and it has a boot loader, then it will possibly brick it.
I also just want to make sure that there isn't a boot loader, so if anyone else has any knowledge, please post below. Thanks!

Well all phones have to have a bootloader. But I337m, which is the Canadian version, definitely has an unlocked bootloader. So you will not get any issues with CF Auto Root or anything.

I'm just stock and rooted. I'm having a bit of trouble finding a specific recovery to use. I don't want to brick. Do you know what I should use?
@Tiraniss Im new to Cspire and I don't see much development for our phones hopefully some nice developer will take interest in our devices soon.
I sure hope so. I was able to flash cm on my s4 but the screen got smashed.
Anybody had any luck with this? I've recently switched back to c spire...

I currently have a Samsung note 3 running Android version 5.0. It has previously been rooted before and then unrooted (because i accidentally bricked it), my question is that. My phone is no longer rooted so can i now re root my phone.
By the way I've tripped knox...
I am from the UK and my phones carrier is EE
Build number: N005XXUGBOA1
Can this actually be done and if so, how would i go about doing this?

I looked at that option but it's saying that my phones bootloader needs to be unlocked otherwise my phone will probably get bricked.
How can I check if my phones bootloader is unlocked or not?

Okay thanks. So i can re root my phone without bricking it as a result?

No brick. If you do get into trouble, you can always get into b Download Mode and restore to stock with Odin. Samsung phones ate pretty robust.
If i were to brick my phone how would i restore to stock with odin? Sorry I'm kinda new at this

There's s bunch of videos on YouTube which show you the process. It's quite simple, and I suggest you watch through these to get a better idea of how it works.
