[Q] [HELP] rooting phone - chainfire not working - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I've tried the search and google multiple times, but the chainfire (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2219803) method for rooting phones doesn't seem to work. I've used it successfully with my galaxy s2 in the past, but the s4 doesn't seem to work. Not sure if it's an issue with the Australian version of the device. If someone could point me in the right direction, I would be eternally grateful.
Model - GT-I9505
Android Version - 4.2.2
Baseband version I9505DVUBMG1
Kernel version
3.4.0-1029328
[email protected] #1
Build number - JDQ39.I9505XXUBMG4
SELinux status - Permissive
Secure boot status - Samsung
Thanks all..

Where's the problem? What appears when u root it? or dont appears nothing? Sometimes u have to do the process 2 times for see the SuperSu app there, u will have to update your binaries then and reboot. Good luck :highfive:

thanks for the reply, Joku1981.
The odin program says that I was unable to flash ...

[Q] AT&T SGS4 Failed 'Unroot'

So I've been itching to get the new KitKat update that ATT released the other day for the GS4's but since I'm rooted, I of course cannot achieve that until I roll back to 4.2 with the Odin method. The only problem is..I cant seem to figure out why my phone won't accept the flash process.
This is the info from Odin..

My phone also has some red text during the process (while its in Download mode) which says..
SW REV. CHECK FAIL : fused : 4 , Binary : 1
Not sure if that's important but the more information the better I suppose.
Anyway, if anyone has any leads or information that might be able to help me, please and thank you very much.
Cheers everyone!

Pretty sure you're on mk2 firmware and need these files http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49687770
Thanks a bunch!
One more question, which file specifically should I be downloading from that thread?
Just making sure so I don't make any mistakes. Heh, cheers mate.

Debrand and Update Odin Failure

This is a great forum hopefully someone can help a newbie out. Apologies in advance for long post (but better too much info than too less).
I've had a search through the forums and basically can't find a definitive answer. All I want to do is debrand my Galaxy S4 I9505 (info below) and upgrade STOCK firmware without rooting (if possible).
Just like here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2262607 Tried to follow thread but get ODIN fail.
Phone info:
Galaxy S4 I9505
Original O2 supplied (and branded) UK
Unlocked and now on three network.
AP: I905XXUBMF8
CP:I9505XXUAMDC
CSC: I9505O2UBMGI
Android Ver: 4.2.2
Baseband version: I9505XXUAMDC
Kernel version: 3.4.0 -917495
Any more info needed just ask.
Tried to follow steps in above thread.
Backed up using Kies
Restarted computer ensuring no KIES services running
connect phone in download mode to ODIN 3.07
Using this FW from Sammobile: I9505XXUFNB8_I9505BTUFNB3_I9505XXUFNB8_HOME.tar.md5
Got ODIN failure:

if you use single tar file do not check re-partition option
open odin use default auto-reboot and F.reset time only

Hello,
same result.
Run as administrator (Right click on the icon)
Use Odin 3.07
If that doesn't work then download a 4.3 file and flash that onto the device.

Do you think the JTAG can solve my problem?
Did you try basic stuff like:
A different usb cable
A different usb port
A different pc?
You are not running Odin on a virtual machine are you?
Did you try redownloading the firmware? Did you try other firmwares?
OTA update samsung missed
I tried everything! Nothing works!
Did you try flashing a custom recovery and then try to flash a custom rom from there?
OTA update samsung missed
re,
How do I flash a custom rom without access to recovery?
OTA update samsung missed
The S4 has gone on a JTAG date.
Told you please uncheck re-partition option...you use single file
Sent from my GT-I9500
