I have looked around everywhere, I can not figure out how to get the Hotspot to work on my Razr? Why is it such an issue on the Razrs? Is there a fail safe way to enable the hotspot ability?
You mean WiFi tethering? Does the same app work on other ROMs for you?
Did you update SU?

Need root explorer & SQLlite . Mine works fine w/o hack on reg vz plans but economy plans need it.

Is there a way to enable the usb tethering on the Hero? I've read sprint disabled this feather awhile back. I'm rooted and use wifi tethering but my aunt just got a Hero (loves it btw), is not rooted and asked me could she tether. I don' live close to her or I'd root her phone. Is usb tethering a lost cause?
Thanks

you can do it on the 2.1 update (maybe just roms based off the update?) but you need to flash a VZW pri. to do so you need root? (citation needed)
i use the native tethering in cm 6.0 and it works awesomely. almost seems faster than my RoadRunner

Yes I know all is possible with flashing, which in this case is not an option. My aunt is not nearly technical enough for a root & flash.
Before we get into different prls. What OS version is her hero.
She is on latest 2.1 ending in .6
PDAnet and EasyTether. Just tell her to pick one, download it from the market, follow the setup instructions, and then tether away.
Is there any Sense ROM with USB Tethering?
Just recently bought a Asus Nexus 7 and I find it an awesome device.
Unfortunately, I was surprised to see there is no option to turn my device into a wifi hotspot
or to share my nexus internet through USB to other computers.
thus I am now looking for apps that can help me achieve this
and would greatly appreciate anyone who has any recommendation for me..
p.s :- I tried wifi Hotspot and Foxfi (free version for both) but I can get neither computers no other mobile phones
to connect to the wifi hotspot they created through my nexus
Thank you.
Easy tether will let you share the internet with a computer using usb.

Easy tether.. got it..will try it out...
anyone else knows of a good one to use to wifi hotspot instead of usb?
no other apps?
Barnacle? Open garden? Pdanet? Foxfi? Easy tether?
I'm sorry..
my nexus 7 is running stock ROM..
it seems that with stock, the wifi hotspot is "blocked" or crippled or whatever..
now wonder when I used wifi hotspot of Foxfi, other devices can see my wifi but unable to access it..
I may need to root my N7, but I have never done rooting before and is a bit apprehensive in doing so..
trying to look up the easiest to understand guide as to how to root my n7 now..
additional info :- I am running android 4.2.2 and my N& build is jdq39
if anyone can point me to a guide to root my N7 with a little more ease, please do..
Thanks..
ok, i just saw this thread..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2150661
can anyone help confirm that this root ROM has the function to let me wifi hotspot with my nexus 7?
Also, if I were to successfully root.. am I able to return this to stock ROM if ever I feel the Root not to my liking?
I've read the hotspot tethering thread in the development forum and wanted to post a question on this. But since I just signed up on the forum, I can't b/c I don't have 10 posts yet. So I have to ask it in here.
I'm wondering if any one has found a way to get the 3rd party apps for tethering to work yet? Specifically wireless tethering. Or if anyone knows how to get the stock VZW mobile hotspot app back on the phone? That's another option that I have that might solve my problem. I accidentally deleted the app before I found that wireless tethering wasn't working on the LG G2's.
I would like to get this functioning again as I'm still grandfathered in unlimited data.
Any help would be appreciated

Well anybody with the vzw g2 can share the app and as long as you have root you can place it where it belongs with correct permissions, if on kk then in the everything stock kit Kat thread that's stickied on the q&a section there is a hotspot mod that works with kk

Well that's another thread coming up shortly. I'm still on JB and can't run the update b/c I'm rooted. Still on stock ROM though. Will that still work of do I have to update to KK?

I've been rooted for a while now under 4.3. I just updated to NC2 ( the leaked KitKat) and then flashed NC4 recovery and modem. I have been using both FoxFi and WiFi Tether (with root) because I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan.
I started up FoxFi to test it, but as usual you have install a private cert and that requires you put in a lock screen PIN or password (pattern no longer an option).
So after testing FoxFi...it works fine, I deleted that cert and removed the PIN lock screen....back to just a swipe.
Well...trying FoxFi again, it wants to reinstall that key...this time I said NO and backed out.
Being someone who likes to tinker with crap....I tried just turning on the native hotspot app. IT WORKS FINE!
That's right...IT STILL WORKS without FoxFi loaded. I am not going to totally remove FoxFi (yet) but strongly suspect it is no longer needed.
Again....this is on rooted NC2 leak but with NC4 modem flashed.

That's because the leaked n2 already had the tethering provisions included.

You never know when you might need the Bluetooth tether. I kept mine for situations like this.

I am running the leaked NC2 rom that I installed using the instructions on this site. FoxFi does work, but only with the cert installed.
Also, just activating the mobile hotspot doesn't work for me. Still checks subscription status and fails.

You need to install Deoxed version of NC2

Ugh. Thanks. May just stick with Foxfi. With getting my phone replaced a couple weeks ago I've set this thing up so many times I don't want to do it again any time soon.
I unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP and installed a stock rooted PD1 ROM. I still have root, but I no longer have BT tethering (I am on an unlimited data plan). Is there a way for me to get it back?
BTW, thank you to those who made the threads that enabled me to get this far.
I am able to get tethering to work with Foxfi, which is not the end of the world considering how rarely I use it, but I still would rather be able to get the native feature to work.

Flash this and you will have tethering using stock hotspot, even better than bluetooth. https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24572369242686524

Stupid question. Flash with odin, twrp, or flashfire?
It wouldn't work through TWRP, so I flashed with Flashfire. That worked and now the native tethering is functional. Thank you very much!
