Hello, I'm new here and have a bit of a strange question... I synced all my facebook contacts to my phone and they work perfectly now my problem is that everyone have a number "2" before their number (because it is part of the area code) and when i dial any number with the "2" at the start it doesn't make the call and also, i could not edit any numbers i got from facebook to delete the first number manually so.. is there a way to remove the first number in all contacts from facebook ? or at least ignore it ?? Thanks...
try searching for prefix apps from the market, there are some apps that will modify (batch!) the data of your contacts. I guess that's the case here.
If you want to leave it like, also try Prefixer (an app with this name), it can add prefix/suffix to a number upon calling, this is done with rules that you set up in the app.
Thanks alot ! it worked but i came across another problem... I want the application to be activated on facebook contacts only cause i have some other contacts (on google for example) which doesn't have a "2" at the start and as i have learned this application removes the first number "2" it comes across so if a number for example 01257..... it would remove the "2" at the middle which makes the number invalid..
EDIT: nvm figured it out now, i came across a strange problem, when i make the "confirm call" option to yes it works perfectly but when i set it to no it doesn't work and i don't like that confirmation... what do i do ?
Hi guys
Has anyone noticed that when searching for a contact (T9 search) in samsung stock dialer, the search function it only lists the first number for a contact if they have more than 1 applied to their card. Problem is you can't view other numbers, it just immediately starts dialing that one number instead if you try to select it ( there is no way to select and see the other numbers)
I have contact with 3-4 numbers so its annoying me. I know there is Dialer One, Go contacts etc but none of them have the clean interface the stock dialer has .
If you click the contact photo it shows all the numbers.
At least my one does....
I'd hate to bring up an old thread, but I used the magical search button and found this thread.
I have this problem, too, and it's really annoying.
Pressing the contact photo doesn't bring up the rest of the numbers for me.
If it helps, my contacts are synced via my google account, and I have a feeling this doesn't happen for contacts locally stored on the phone.
Does anybody have a solution for this?
I'm currently using a different dialer, but I'd prefer to stick to Samsung's dialer if possible.
hi Android Community,
i am just about to reorganize my phonebook, i have used different methods of saving numbers to my phonebook e.g. for germany 004996122222 for person xyz, 0049 stands for country code 961 stands for area code and 22222 stands for the landline, usually Android displays incoming calls like this area code "space" and landline number, it also displays the city where the area code belongs too e.g. waidhaus which is near my hometown.
i still have misc problems the way android formats these numbers. still no problems calling contacts, but one issue was when i type the phone number manually android only suggests me the phone number of one specific person i have in my phonebook either i type in this persons phone number or another persons phone number (manually!!) this is way of wrong.
it displays me this persons name either it is this persons number or any other. i have had this bug years ago with my first htc desire still preserving; it started when beginning saving phone numbers the lol way e.g. 004996122222 where it was not necessary to save it this way unless you are in holidays abroad
due to different formatting of phone numbers from persons around the globe because of the int code &the different way of handling of the leading zero according the country you call to i still have issues, i know there is a way you can edit phone nr in google contacts (gmail) so that it can be updated with next sync. but that did not helped me, still issues from what i have written above
is there a app available that removes this bug of only displaying this one persons contact either i type in his number or anyone else, i think it is because of googles data collection rage and/or my sold htc desirewhich may have had a bug in htc sense and the availability of updates for this device (now i have sgs3 and cm whatever version i dont know and have no issues atm)
or maybe it was because of my mistake setting the phone number the proper way, i think there is no wrong in setting the phone number the way +1NewYorkCityAreaCodeBureauofPersonXYZ but i did probably made a mistake in doing this way making it difficult to reorganize my phonebook.
the problem with this has nothing to do with outgoing calls as there are no problems when typing 004996122222 it always works well (destination germany either i am in germany or abroad), but when a incoming call comes from a saved contact i suggest that it would properly display the orign of the call (only as it is with landline numbers either it is within a country or abroad but no mobile numbers as there are limitations to this),
i wonder if anybody can tell me if there is a builtin library in Android that handles this task i would appreciate your answers to this topic even if i could have written a book on this topic,
wishing you can be indulgent too on my write rage even if it could be explained a smarter way, if you have questions feel free to ask.

hi Android Community,
i googled around some keywords regarding my topic and found a way it could be solved
here it goes
contacts+formatter+android in google search box
i ll give it a try, many thanks even no answer
bye bye
On my Android phone contact list I've noticed several interspersed contact names are followed by very long, capitalized strings of random text and numbers usually starting with "BgYGB..." I noticed it after a contacts import. If I attempt to edit any such contact via the stock contacts app in order to remove the offending text, it simply does not appear in the edit boxes to delete it yet it's visible in the top heading area of the contact's page. Has anyone else experienced this and how have you recovered from it? Once I was able to remove the garbled text manually using Go Contacts EX going to each affected contact one by one, but I'm hoping someone has a better solution. I am running Android 4.4.2 on a stock, rooted Samsung Galaxy S4 from Sprint.
Hi there,
Isn't there some way to get the Android OS to organise/sort texts based on the contacts they are recieved from as opposed to the number?. I have a contact that has 11 phone numbers and its midly frustrating having it show it as 11 conversations instead of 1 when its the same person. I know iOS has provisions for this and it can't be that hard to pool the contacts database and determine whether a number belongs to a contact or not and toss that message into the same conversation.
But does Android have provisions for that or can it be changed some how?, because as i said, its a bit annoying to have 11 conversations when 1 can do it.
