Hi guys
Has anyone noticed that when searching for a contact (T9 search) in samsung stock dialer, the search function it only lists the first number for a contact if they have more than 1 applied to their card. Problem is you can't view other numbers, it just immediately starts dialing that one number instead if you try to select it ( there is no way to select and see the other numbers)
I have contact with 3-4 numbers so its annoying me. I know there is Dialer One, Go contacts etc but none of them have the clean interface the stock dialer has .
If you click the contact photo it shows all the numbers.
At least my one does....
I'd hate to bring up an old thread, but I used the magical search button and found this thread.
I have this problem, too, and it's really annoying.
Pressing the contact photo doesn't bring up the rest of the numbers for me.
If it helps, my contacts are synced via my google account, and I have a feeling this doesn't happen for contacts locally stored on the phone.
Does anybody have a solution for this?
I'm currently using a different dialer, but I'd prefer to stick to Samsung's dialer if possible.

Something is up with my contacts. If I search for some people I'll get the result and see their number under their name. When I tap the name the contact opens but no phone number is listed, just all the other contact items.
For the contacts this happens to I can only call them from the diaper contacts list with the green phone icon. Even then it's random as to what number it calls if they have more than one.
Anyone else seen this behavior and/or know of a fix?
Apparently, you're not the only one with the problem. I guess it's the new blur thing. For example, my girlfriend's info, I can see everything but her phone #'s under "Contacts", without the green call icon. As far as it being random to what # it calls... I haven't had that problem... I do understand your frustration with it though but nothing's major with your phone, it's just a stupid perk moto made.
Thanks for the feedback. At least I'm not going to do a factory reset now to try and fix it. I'll just hold tight for an update and or a cool rom.
I've noticed that it happens on contacts that have facebook accounts attached. Deleting your facebook account from "my accounts" might fix it, I haven't tried. If you go to the contacts list under the phone program it will allow you to access the numbers.
If I try to dial a german number beginning with "01" it always sends me back to the homescreen.
I can dial all other numbers except for numbers beginning with "01". But all mobile phone numbers in Germany start with "01" so its a big problem for me.
Can anyone help?
I have the same problem, it´s just not "01", it´s several numbers like "25", "02". I also did a factory reset, and it changed the numbers, before it was "07" and "05" but now they work and others do the same thing. I phoned up the place where I have to send the phone for repair and they said it´s most likely a software issue, it happens when new phones come out. So yeah, call the shop where you bought it from and they will tell you what to do and who to contact for further details. Best of luck!
Edit: I fixed it BY MISTAKE! (lol)
My solution: I delete all my contacts (because I didnt want to send it in with the contacts) and then I tried it out and it worked! I also noticed every time I clicked the green button to call someone, it was on the tab "contacts" instead of "dialler". Another thing, before when I typed "25" I was sent to my homescreen, but not that I reset all my contact when I type "25", one of my numbers appear highlighted with "25" so I am pretty sure that there was a glitch with some of my contacts and now it doesn´t bug up. Try it out and let me know =)
Solution: Delete all contacts, restart, copy contacts back from sim! Voila =)
I had a similar problem with my Milestone 2 when I dialed "22". The dialer would simply close. After some experimentation, I found that the problem only happened when my Facebook contacts were hooked into the phone. By chance, I found that my first Facebook contact had put a non-numeric phrase in his mobile telephone number field on Facebook, and once I had unfriended him, and reset my contacts, then everything worked fine.
So if the dialer is shutting unexpectedly, then checkout whether any of your contacts have a non-numeric phone number.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Steve.
I've got the same problem when I type +3939, it's a big problem because I'm Italian!
No problem by typing the numbers you posted before.
Any one know how to remove your Facebook contacts from your contacts list. Considering WM7 hasn't been come up with a quick scroll function, spending a minute scrolling through 500 additional facebook contacts to call someone really is a pain in the butt! Yes I know there is a 'search' function, but I don't like having to type in a persons name to just call them.
Is anyone else having this problem?
PS... I still love the phone. Can't wait for an official update from Microsoft!
you can go to settings ---> people and check "only add facebook info to existing contacts"
Also remember you can hit the search button and look for your contact like that. Searches in both names and surnames.
You can also hit a letter and get the alphabet grid to quickly go to names starting with a certain letter.
The best thing they could do is put a setting in there that only shows contacts with phone numbers. Same thing Android does.
I have a Messenger contact list the size of my facebook friends list.
On top of that I am coming over from an Android phone.
That is 3 different sets of contacts. Having it when I press phone and only showing me contacts with phone numbers makes sense.
Hello everyone,
I upgraded to "Android Revolution HD 4.0" (the Gingerbread version) a few days ago and am currently running LauncherPro.
My problem:
When I open the "Phone" app it normally shows the contact list on top and as you type in the numbers the contacts get filtered.
But now the list is empty and my contacts only appear after typing in a random number an erasing it again.
Sorry if I'm missing something obvious here, but I just couldn't find a setting or something to fix that.
Cheers
That is because Call History is broken in those new ROMs. Try to enter Call History from apps list, I bet you'll get a FC. I did that when I was using AR HD4.
Let me know how it turns out for you
The Call History seems to work flawless.

When I upgraded from stock to CM7 I had a similar issue. My contact list was limited to those in my Gmail Contacts (i.e. email only - no phone numbers).
When in Contacts - I pressed the Menu button, selected Import/Export and imported the contacts on the SIM card into my contact list. No problems since.
Last weekend I modified/merged my contacts in Gmail - which syncs automatically. I won't store them on the SIM card anymore.

Actually I've had the same problem, same as screenshots, but in my case it was the Call History. Indeed, it was a known bug on that version of the ROM I've was using.
I was just able to fix it by changing the shortcut of the phone icon in the dock (launcherpro) to the phone from the app list and suddenly it works
Thanks for your replies!
Maybe I'm just going mad, but after a full reset, I think I'm missing some functionality in the Dialer.
If I pull up the Dialer, and start using T9-like search, e.g. search for "John" by dialing 5646, then the drop down list will pull up all the Contact called "John" (or that match other letters on those keys), or have "5646" in their number. If you click the down arrow/count, then the list is popped up.
Each Contact has their "default" number listed (if the default is not explicitly set on the contact, I think it uses the first/only number defined).
If you wanted to use a number other than the default, I was pretty sure that you could tap the thumbnail image to show the alternative numbers, and select from there, but this isn't working for me. Tapping the area other than the image selects the default number, but tapping the image has no effect.
Does anybody know how to get the Dialer to show the list of alternative numbers? Is it a setting/permission that I'm missing?
Anybody else having this problem, or can think of a solution?
If there a multiple numbers then i see them all listed when i click on the contact and then i select the one number i want. It was always listing them all, don't recall changing a setting
Thanks for the response - that's how I remember it working, but I can't imagine what I've done to stop if functioning like that.
I have the same problem on N910C 6.0.1. Does anyone have the solution?
P.S. I disabled all keyboards except the SwiftKey, disabled voice input and S voice. And removed S find from the notification dropdown by cuting the "com.sec.feature.findo.xml": https://forum.xda-developers.com/note-4/general/root-how-to-remove-s-finder-quick-t3161432
I dont know if that broke the dialer search, but i returned that last file and it didnt help (S find was back).
