is KITKAT 4.4.1 for Nexus7 2013 wifi out yet? - Nexus 7 (2013) General

if YES, is there a way to install it manually to our N7.2?

Someone will probably post it in this thread once the link gets discovered :fingers-crossed:
After that, just flash back the original boot.img and system.img from KRT16S if you are on a custom kernel or have modified any system files, and then flash the OTA, either from a custom recovery or sideload it from the stock recovery

Check here for the factory image.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
I use the WugFresh tool kit for easy flashing of stock images.

Android 4.1.1 KitKat is rolling out in stages available for N5, N7LTE, N4 but not yet for N7WiFi also factory images for 4.1.1 won't be available till next week. So we have to wait for somebody to get the OTA and grab the link.

Is there a changeog anywhere?

This feels so weird, i had HTC Desire for like 3 years, and the last OTA i have seen was like 2 years ago.
Now with N7 it's OTA's overload.

Don't know. I've heard it's focused on Nexus 5 camera issues. I'm not getting my panties in a wad to install it.

That's pretty much my feel on it. I just installed those dalvik patches yesterday, I don't want to have to flash the stock libraries, wipe cache, and then flash 4.4.1 just for an extremely minor incremental update that isn't even focused on our device.

I believe that there's more to it. 50MB is not that small for a patch, perhaps they ironed out some bugs(there's a hidden wifi bug in 4.4 that I would like to see fixed).
Stability and optimization improvements are always welcome too...

im on Nexus 7 v2 LTE rom 4.4.0 rooted. any body that can help me go to 4.4.1, i tryed adb sideload but gives me error i use wugfresh toolkit

Please continue in this dedicated thread for your updates.

[Q] Nexus 10/4.3

My Nexus 10 (unrooted, fully stock on 4.2.2) is not showing an update available. Any suggestions on what I can do to get 4.3? I downloaded the file Google has up (.tar), but I really don't know what to do with it.
I am used to rooting and using zips, as I run Cyanogen on my G Nexus.
Anyone care to offer me some tips on what to do with the Nexus 10 to get 4.3 on it tonight? I have both Mac and PC available to me to work with.
patience. Did they say that OTA's were rolling out today?

[Q] 4.3 more troublesome than useful?

My N4 just arrived today.
I have version 4.2.2 installed.
A quick search on gooogle shows a lot of negative feedback from users on the 4.3 update.
I want to root it too but I'm unsure about the update, have you ecountered problems with latest update that couldn't be fixed?
Or better said, what are the most common bugs and can they be fixed?
Also what about roms, which one should i try, PA?
Some people experienced random reboots, I never had them on JWR, I do on JSS.
Also JSS has sometimes dead locks and freezes for about 10 seconds.
But since the update I experience much better battery life! So yeah if you will use the stock ROM I guess you wont have any of these problems, only advantages.
Thanks for the question and the answer, I'm in the same spot and maybe I'll try some custom JWR this weekend, although the plethora of different specific 4.3 bugs going around - besides those already mentioned - remembers a X-File case.

But first what should I do? What's the order, root first and then update? This my first android/smartphone, so I'm quite new to this...

Changed my mind! Seen too many negative comments on youtube... I'm just gonna root this version 4.2.2. and I'll wait for 5.0
Any tips when rooting 4.2.2?
4.3.3 is actually a great upgrade with tons of features and additions. It is just brand new so there are a few bugs to be worked out. But 4.2.2 has bugs that won't be worked out at all.

So how long do you think it will take for them to fix these bugs?
OTA 4.3 update with twrp 2.5 no root.
I have no issues.
If you want a reliable jwr custom ROM then cataclysm is awesome and has no problems either for me.
I use stock for unrooted and cataclysm rooted regularly for different reasons but I definitely recommend updating to 4.3 regardless.

You can always go back to a previous version. I'm not really sure why you're being so skittish.
FYI, "5.0" will likely be far more riddled with bugs. More changes means more room for error. You have a freaking Nexus. Get with the program.
My advice to you is to not use a toolkit. Setup fastboot and know how to flash the stock images BEFORE attempting anything. That way, if something goes wrong you can fix it without making yet another "HALP! I bricked my phone" thread. We have way too many of those.

Unfortunately, the OTA KitKat update for my N10 is still not available for download.

If you guys have any suggestions I would really appreciate it. Also, If you would know

Perhaps Google is waiting for Kitkat to be released on the new Nexus 10 before updatring the original Nexus 10.
There is no new Google 10 and seriously once you get KitKat on your tablet you'll wish you hadn't, the OS is like a giant phone and isn't geared up for tablets.

The full image is available on the Nexus factory images site. If you can't wait for the OTA, just download and flash that. Just remember to edit the batch file so you don't wipe everything. Here is the link.
https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images?csw=1#mantarayjwr66y
Taking advantage of the topic, I'm from Brazil and me has not yet come to update my tablet version is also JWR66Y rooted, I need to get the root to update via OTA? Because I remember the last update to 4.3, when restarted I had problem with the boot image and had to use a tool to change the boot image
I waited, and waited, but gave up a couple nights ago. Seems to me, it should be like a voting system. The more manual update checks you do, the sooner you get it versus those that don't manually check. Those that don't realize the update is even or won't miss it for another few days.
Editing the -w out of the batch file was troublesome for me. The flag would complete and the tablet would reboot, but it would then hang on the nexus boot screen. Tried twice, but waiting a half an hour each time, I deemed it failure. Unexpected too since I had done a full wipe, factory fresh 4.3 the week prior.
Running the unedited batch with wipe went without a hitch. No biggie since I had done it recently.

Yeah, I updated mine with the factory image several days ago...I decided to go ahead and let it do the full wipe since I was reading that folks were having issues after removing the "-w" flag. Full wipe is probably the way to go anyway if want to avoid bugs.
For anyone interested who hasn't done this before, I found the instructions here to be quite helpful:

Check to see if there's custom recovery installed. You should flash a factory image and wipe it clean to be 100% sure it'll take an OTA.

Hmm... Well, I dunno if Team Android makes any more ROMs but those are as close to stock as you can get. Perhaps going simple CyanogenMod or Carbon would be great alternatives if you cannot flash to stock (although there may not be anymore OTAs it's super stable). I don't think the little one will care too much about customizing the UI.

Always seems like cm had so many bugs, even the so called "stable or snapshots".

That I'm not sure of. If the /system partition was changed at all, the md5 would come out invalid and it would send you into a bootloop. You'd also need stock recovery but you can flash an OTA through custom recovery as a .zip. I seriously recommend flashing a stock image if you expect to take an OTA because you really don't know what the original owner had done...

New OTA: 44S Rolling Out Now [Original and Modified OTAs Included]

Just FYI: https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/cm-11s-44s-ota-is-out.173057/
...didn't see the typical insta-thread here, heh.
Greetings friends,
Happy Weekend! Thanks to our buds at Cyanogen, a new OTA will be rolling out to your phones starting today. This new release includes some new fixes such as a resolved SSLv3 POODLE security issue and updated touchscreen firmware.
The OTA will be released slowly and therefore some regions might receive it before others. Once you’ve received your OTA please let us know what you think! Any further issues you may find can also be reported directly to Cyanogen.
Here’s a comprehensive list of changes you’ll find in this update:
Fixed issues with memory causing screen artifacts
Fixed issues with random reboots and instability
Fixed issues with WiFi and modem crashes
Fixed issues with Filesystem
Fixed issues with “black bar”
Fixed issues with persist partition corruption
Fixed issues with AT&T VoLTE

Edit: Forgot to mention... this includes a new modem, I know people are always interested in that.
As a side note, I've been running the build as part of an early access test for a few days now... has been extremely solid for me.

FAQ (since people are allergic to reading and searching):
1. ZOMG WHY NO WIFI AFTER OTA?: Because you used a custom kernel and didn't clean up your system files properly. Either follow that kernel threads instructions for OTA-prep'ing or flash back to that kernel.
2. I don't run CM 11S but I can totally flash this CM11S update, right?: No. If you want to flash the 44S OTA update, get yourself to CM11S 38R.
