Hi guys,
Here I am asking a rather basic question...I come from a very properly working i9100. I swapped the SIM card with that one, where I could tether with no problem. So now its bigger brother i9505 inherited the SIM. So I'm assuming that's not the source of the problem, the mobile provider (Three Hong Kong) has no tethering/voip limitations.
In the phone (stock ROM the phone came with, v4.2.2 I9505ZHUBMF4) I set the hotspot settings, the laptop(s, tested with two different ones) connect successfully with wifi, but fail to navigate. Pages time out, no ping response.
If I do the same with USB tethering, the phone is immediately recognized and connects as a local dial-in connection, the traffic icon shows on the taskbar. But again, no internet connection. Pages time out, no ping response. Same behavior on the bluetooth connection.
Just to confirm, the old S2 keeps happily performing as USB and wifi hotspot...Any clue as to what's going on?
Thanks a lot!

Dear All
I just purchased O2 XDa IIi in UK, when I use wifi at the 1st time, it is good, but suddently it stop and now can not detect the wifi signal at wifi-cafe while other people around me still use it good.
Try hardreset but the problem still persist.
Is the device at faulty? how to solve this
Best regards
Tuan
are you sure you are not connected? when the xda2i detects a network it recognises, it will not launch the screen that gives you the option to connect to that network, it will just automatically try to connect.
I suggest that next time you are in the cafe, turn on tour wifi, and launch internet explorer, and see what happens. If the wifi cafe needs vouchers to access then the browser will ask you for details, which means you are on line.
Alternativley, go to a new wifi hotspot location and try there and see if the xda2i prompts you to connect to that new network.
Good Luck!

Hi
Thank for your reply
The device do not recogize wifi, i try nearly ten hotspot locations but results are the same.
Do you suggest any advice? i think the device may be faulty due to hardware problem
Best regards
Tuan
damn, sounds like it could be a hardware issue, I have heard other forum users complaints about wifi going wrong, other than sending it back for a replacement, I am stumped. Sorry.
I’v hade the same problem.
When I first received my device wifi was really good, within a week if could not even detect a network.
It started with the unreliable data transfer but still having a good signal strength,
to no data transfer but still with good signal strength,
to no signal / no network connection. No network detection
o2 replaced my device but the new one is still a little poor & slow picking up networks and sometimes never detects networks. Far form what the xdaIIi was like first time I tried it.

At the risk of being shot down, have you tried your IIi at another location. There is every chance the hotspot you're using is degrading rather than IIi!
Is it hot there right now? (sorry for being ignorant!). Condensation can form inside the aerials, and water is a killer for radio coverage. Perhaps put it somewhere dry for a few hours to absorb the moisture?

hi
Thank for your email. I tried it in nearly all hotspot in my hometown. Even to ask some of my friend bring their device (Lapton, HP, T-mobile...) sat next to me to check. They are using wifi very well except me (
The device is totally dry for sure. I already soft reset, hard reset but found no thing change.
I guess there must be problem with hardware
Hope O2 do the same like what other computer manufactures do is to take back all error devices? they must do it

if a hotspot is already in yr list of networks, it'll not prompt, otherwise it'll ask u "XXXX-XXX network found, it connects to Work / internet "
another probable cause for not getting any data transfers after connecting to wifi is that the network selection is wrong. try checking the network settings and changing the same. I'm in vietnam and its working fine with me.

He all,
I got some connection problems.
If i insert my WiFi card(sandisk 256+WiFi) my I-mate detects it and the antanna is displayed in de buttom of my screen but whenni go to my browser(internet) the message :Cannot connect with current conection settings. To change your connection setting, tap settings.
But i have no id how to change the settings to make it work with my wireless network.
Also the WiFi card couses to freeze the system every once and while. If i take the card out everything is okey again.
I got the I-mate jam with latest rom and radio drivers and I already installed the drivers of the WiFi card.
I hope you guys can help me out with this one
Thanks in advance

I had a similar problem with my XDAII, believe it is likely to be a known problem and related to the dual function of the card.
Have you tried the website for updated drivers?
The other options are to ensure that it you have the correct settings for Work or Internet to connect to.
I assume you are connecting to a wireless Access Point on a home based WIFI system, or are you trying to connect to public hot spots?
Contacted clubimate?
It started after I installed the latest rom version you guys think I migh work if I installed the older version?>
GreetZ
Nick
which rom are you referring to, an original manufacturer version or a cooked rom from this site?
if it is a licensed version, I would contact imate, have you installed the latest drivers from the hardware supplier?
I think you may have to go to your wireless settings and ensure connect to the internet is selected. also, scan local networks and ensure you are connecting to the correct network.
my problem when I got that message was cause it was connecting to the guy next door with wep key required.
are you able to connect to your host pc via wifi using a mapped network drive? or are you simply using a wifi hotspot?
if using a wifi hotspot, you should select auto connect to non-preferred networks.
start - settings - connections and choose wireless or wifi or network and have a look at what is actually happening in the network configurations. if you are really struggling still, try posting some screen shots of your network connection settings
sorry misread post
Just to end this topic.
I returned it to sadisk and they said it was the memmory function.
I couldn't get a new one form the store i bought it so I got my money back,
I now have a new one without the extra memory.

I hope someone can help me. My new xda exec will not detect wifi anywhere. I can get it to work when sync lead to my laptop but I just found out it is routing to my laptops network connection. I have gone through all the settings and cannot find anything wrong it just keeps on saying scanning network
Hi Simba1623,
I'm new to XDA's but have been playing with WiFi networks for a while.
So i'll have a couple of guess's
Is the router broadcasting its SSID ?
Do you have spare IP's available ?
Have you added the MAC address if you've got MAC flittering switched on ?
All are common causes for devices not finding the network.
Thanks for responding. The id issue is sorted as when I first setup the xda it did work and asked me for password and worked fine. Then the following day stopped. There is plenty of address left and it won't work anywhere. Regarding mac address I have no idea but will cheack with a friend. When I bought the XDA I was assured it would pretty much work out of the box...... and it did for one day Thanks again :?
Try to delete the connection settings associated with your router (in the wireless manager), hopefully that should allow you to "discover" the router again and fingers crossed it should stay working
Thanks I just I tried that. It didn't work straight away but following full shutdown and battary removal it seems to be working now. Fingers crossed it stays
Wifi signal almos DEAD, very strange
Hi, My O2 Exec has problems with the WIFI connection, no matter where I go, if O2 Exec isn't really near the access point, will not detec or connect to the wireless network.
when I say near, is around 1 meter from the access point antenna, if I go more tham 3 meters, goes almot 100% oofline and 4 meters even detect. It happens at home and at work, in both locations my laptop works fine 40m from the access point and my nokia 9500 (cel I used to have) goes 30m, I've made this tests of distance today.
So... seems to be on My O2Exec the problem... ... I think started when I upgraded the ROM to latest build available at my-xda.
Please, any clue? I already changed performance/battery from the control panel/wireless and even reset many times, updated the rom again.. no clue at all...
HELP!!!!

hi,

o2 atom wifi issues
Hi there,
I also have had the same problems with my o2 Exec, when I first turned it on, it wouldn't detect any access points, after driving myself nuts with trying to work out what was wrong, I eventually put it down to the phone. so I rang O2 and they told me to send it back. Strangely just after that phone call it detected the network and has been working fine. Until last night when it decided that it couldn't connect again. It still sees the network, but will not connect, even though it says that it is available.
Also a couple of days ago the speakers in the phone stopped working after I used the radio with the headset. After putting the headset back in and pulling it out about 20 times. it did work again. but not before I went CRAZY AND HARD RESET THE DAM THING.
I hate this phone, I have owned the o2 mini and the jasjam, this is the worst of them........
I am selling mine as soon as I get O2 to replace this piece of crap.
Hi, I've some problem with wifi connections. I own a lynksis wag54g2 wifi router. I can establish a connection, but after some times (it's not standard, it may vary), my device disconnect from the router and it's not able to reconnect. All that i can do is plug off my router (i take off the ac adapter) and when it's up again my phone can connect. it's very frustating, but i don't know what to do? i've tried setting something in wifi preferences' on my phone but nothing change. i've also flashed my firmware to the new one, hoping that it could fix that problem, but it didn't. someone could help me?
you can update the firmware to a newer one. this would fix your problem.

Hello.
I have a problem with WIFI on Galaxy 5 (i5500)(Europa) too. They have already changed my phone with new one, but the issue remains. So, for the second time now, I was able to connect my phone to my router for the first time, but after the first interruption or disconnection of WIFI I could not access to wifi anymore.
When I enable wifi in the phone starts ''connecting'' but then reports ''interrupted'' eventhough the signal is recognised as strong.
Firmwire version is the latest available. Router is encrypted with WPA2. Also I can access to router with my HTC Tattoo (Click).
Does anyone know the solution?
I have a decision to make(today), becouse If there is no solution to this I will change to another phone as I still can (Galaxy Spica).
Advise please.
Thanks a lot
What router do you have? have you tried with any other wifi network? i said that because my have this problem only with my router, and not for example with my girlfriend's one.
I found a little fix for my router, linksys wag54g2: open up the config page (192.168.1.1), go for wireless tab, select protection page and click on save settings. that reload the router and my phone is able to connect again.
Hi.
Thanks for your advice. There is some problem with router.. When I restart router the wifi on the phone works until swiched off or interruption becouse being out of range. When I try to connect to wifi again does not work unless I restart router again. ..catchy.. Interfering with mobile connection also makes the drop of wireless connection on my computer, so I need to restart router. I don't know the permanent solution. If anyone has any idea how repair this forever please let me know.
Best,
Thanks
Hi,
Here is my problem with my wifi with the galaxy 550.
For security reasons, my wifi network can't be detected (invisible). If i want to connect a new device by wifi, I must first set my wifi visible and then register my device.
Then I set my wifi as invisible again and the device can connect automaticaly to my network without "seeing" my wifi network.
Problem is that once i set my wifi as invisible again, my galaxy fail to connect because the network is unvisible.
Is there anyway to fix this ?
I have just read similar post on another thread and replied find it here
I ahvent installed anything, perhaps its to do with the handset if its locked to a particular carrier? just a guess and a question...
cheers

I have an answer! Hope it works for you.
My provider gave me really easy solution for wifi connection not connecting even though it was my own network with all the right info. It worked great the first time, then for some reason the phone locked in the "off" position. So I removed the battery to reboot (later learned the right way by pushing the volume button on the left and the power button at the same time)
Anyway, try this....
turn phone off - remove battery - remove sim card - wait a few minutes - reassemble - then the network should log on with no problem.....Good luck!

Hi,
I just started my vacation in Spain but I've run into a problem with my cell. Upon arrival I notice that the phone won't connect to mobile data. Both mobile data and roaming is turned on, and it gives me the message of loosing the data connection if I turn it off, but I don't get any connection. What's even more weird is that I can't connect to WiFi either. All other devices here manages to but not mine. When connecting to the router it reads Connecting... but it stops and the access point reads Saved, secured with WPA/WPA2. Now and then I also get the popup notifying me that there are available networks to add to my annoyance.
Does anyone know what the heck is going on? Back in Norway both mobile data and Wifi worked flawlessly. I'm running RB 4.0 on a Samsung s3 (i9300)
