Luckily my wife runs a stock MotoX so I'll be able to see what it's like if I really want to jump on.

Figures use Canadians have to wait longer ops forgot I'm already running kitkat:beer:

4G Xoom

Is there any ROM that works well with Xoom 4G? Every ROM I look says not to fash on a 4G Xoom.
Sent from my Xoom using xda premium
Simple answer no.
Longer answer is that no dev is going to waste the time getting one up and running just to have ICS drop a few weeks later.
So I'd just sit tight and wait for the Ice Cream goodness to roll in.

What demecles said, no dev is going to waste there time doing a ROM that will support the 4G XOOM when ICS is right around the corner. There's a few kernels out there that will work with the 4G XOOMs but I'm not even going to bother with that, as long as I have root access, I'm all good and waiting on ICS to come out.

You can alway get the stock rooted img here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1242524
It works great on mine. Its just the stock rom +root but at least you can play a bit.

Good point. I didn't remember about ics but frankly I don't think we are a few weeks away. Motorola said after ics is realeased by Google they will take 6 weeks to release a final note but that the xoom will receive the update. I think it will be more like around February or so

I was aso looking for a rom for my 4g xoom and came to the same conclusion regarding ICS.
My biggest complaint since I got my xoom back from the upgrade has been battery life. I used to be able to use it for 7+ hours and be fine. Now I get only 4 hrs or so of usage. Have tried shutting off the data to no avail.
Must have something to do with the new software I guess.
Any suggestions?

Galaxy Nexus

Who is thinking about getting this bad boy when it comes to Verizon? xD

Ummm, in my fantasies. My bank account disagrees, though.

I would just love to have gingerbread on this phone lol. I'm stuck with it until 2013.
I've had my upgrade eligibility since this past June just waiting for the perfect phone to arrive. At first the Galaxy N was definitely my first choice, but with the bugs that it seems to have I don't know anymore. I may just wait till they are all ironed out.
That said, I'm probably gonna get it anyway, hopefully when Verizon is still doing the double data deal. The only other 4G phones that interest me are the Razr and maybe the Rezound, but not really a fan of either "Blur" or Sense.
Until then I'm fine using my Continuum and Fascinate.
I'm planning in getting the Nexus (upgrade available yesterday). Just wish they would go ahead and announce it... Just don't want to be stuck without upgrades again.

Only bug I ever heard of would be the volume bug which only occured in 2G. No phone should ever be used in 2G lol. Luckily they did get that fixed up, and it's looking bug free now.
I was planning on getting the Nexus, but decided to jump on the Xperia Play for free over the Black Friday weekend... Loving it so far... Wish you guys could experience lag free Vanilla Gingerbread... It's smooth as butter.

There is no doubt that ICS is going to be available on the R800x.
But getting an official OTA update from Verizon, thats a whole different story.
really??!! you guys are seriously arguing over this post??
GROW UP!!
on a serious note though, yes ICS is coming to the Play its expected end of march/beggining of april sony's words not mine!!
I think people are just a little bitter over verizons track record...
For me I hope this is true and.it would go a long way to keep me.as a customer

I thought you were leaving?
Sony has stated that they are pushing ICS to Xperia Play. That is, they are going to push it to the companies that push the update to the phones. That means that the companies that don't put their bloat on it will send it right out, once they can confirm that it works on their system.
Companies like AT&T and Verizon will get the update, add their bloatware, and also program it to match their systems. Verizon, in particular, will most likely take longer being that it is CDMA, as opposed to GSM, which is what the rest of the world's Xperia Plays are. Unless Sony is actually making a CDMA version themselves, it's going to take awhile for R800x.
Will I'm not as pissed as I was the other day but still not going to upload the rom dad made but I am going to keep guys updated on news about this phone when I get new info on it but as roms come I will get the info and stuff on the droid 3 forums

That's funny, because the Droid 3 doesn't have an unlocked bootloader.
So you switched from Droid 3 in your xda app sig back to R800x?
And back on topic...
You have to take any information from a Verizon Rep with a grain of salt...
I was told in November of 2010 that we would Froyo on my Continuum within a month... They just got that update... My Eris never got updated...
Verizon decides who gets their time and energy for updates based on device sales, so if you really want ICS, go convince some of your friend to get Xperia Plays...
Ok thanks for the info

Road back to .91 from .141

Just creating a post in general to showcase my steps in an effort to get back to an unlockable boot loader from the .141 crap moto placed on my phone upon sending it in for repair.
Lucky for me, I was still under warranty so I sent it and and I am tracking it now... For the comment section I told them that I did not appreciate them upgraded me to a really bad version (.141) that made my phone really slow and unstable, and of course caused my once unlocked bootloader to no longer be unlocked.
Actually posting this because I'm frustrated and I hope that it will work so that way if anyone else is under contract or warranty can try and *hopefully* get the same results.
I will update as soon as anything happens.

How much bloat is on the Sprint Moto X. 50/50 chance I choose this over a Nexus 5 tomorrow.

VERY little, in my opinion. I was coming from the Samsung Galaxy S III, and was also trying to choose between the N5 and the MotoX. I chose the Moto, and so far I'm really pleased.

Not directed at me but if I chose moto i'll only be on it until my contract is up in June. I have good Sprint service but I want to go to a GSM carrier and buy unlocked since i'm done with contracts. The intriguing part about Nexus 5 is i could use it on Sprint and then take it elsewhere when my contract is up. Moto X brings innovation though. The X2 would definitely be my next phone.

Is it? I asked the sales rep about that and they said an update would be released when SPARK went live in the area. If that's incorrect, then I suppose the N5 might be a better bet if you're looking to acquire SPARK functionality sooner.

I was under the impression that it is a hardware issue and not software. Correct me if I'm wrong!

I will defer to those with more insider information than I. I've found the Moto X to be speedier than my GS3 in the Houston area, so while SPARK would be nice, I can't say it makes me regret purchasing this phone if it will not be compatible. So far I've been very pleasantly surprised at how much I'm liking it.

on sprint, chose the MotoX because it feels much better in hand. Hardware and software working VERY well together in this little device. The nexus 5 looked great, but I am not one to do any or much flashing or tinkering with phones. I wanted a phone that worked, and the MotoX fits that bill the best IMO. I also got it for 1 cent on Amazon for upgrade, so that was awesome.
Apparently there's a flashable update zip here. If anyone is rooted with stock recovery can you try it and let us know?

I just tried to flash that but it said an error about it was meant for ghost devices.
How is everyone liking the screen size with the soft keys? I was messing around with a co-workers and I didn't love the screen size. I have a N5 and was thinking about getting my wife the Moto X, she currently has the Sprint SII and I don't want to downgrade her screen size. I know I am used to the N5 screen so maybe her going from SII to Moto X won't be so bad.

I got it by placing the flashable zip posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2452246 into my sd card, tried to flash it via stock recovery, getting an error message, and finally rebooting my phone and hitting the system update button and finally getting it.
The speed is amazing. No stutters or hiccups when running on ART instead of dalvik. I'm so happy right now .
