Not sure which driver you tried to install, but I would probably manual install it even though it was plug and play for me and probably most other GS4 users. I found the Samsung's AT&T page and the driver download link but I can't post links yet because of, well, my post count. If you do a search of "Galaxy S4 SHG-l337 driver", you get a "Support - AT&T...." link (should be first one) that links you to a Samsung.com domain. Go there, scroll down, and hit the "Downloads" tab and install that driver.

Go to control panel -> programs -> uninstall a program
when the list is displayed, see if something that is called "SAMSUNG USB Driver for Mobile Phones" is installed, if not, then chances are you need that. If it is installed, then see if you can get your hands on another cable, could just be a faulty cable.

[Q] How to Transfer files to the 10.1 via Windows 7

Hi All,
I've tried everything, including the usb drivers from the root guide and installing the Samsung Kies Mini program, but I can't get Windows to recognize the memory on the device. I want to transfer some movies on the Galaxy and have not been able to figure it out.
When I run the Kies software it says "plug in your usb" and when I plug in the Galaxy nothing happens...
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
It should work by just plugging in the usb/connector cable. You don't need Kies (doesnt support the 10.1 anyway right now)
When your pc does not recognize your tab, something is fishy about your pc/ usb.
USB connection should work:
(Autoplay should pop up
Select open device to connect (GT-P7510)
Click on phone
Select directory to copy file to)
Sounds like a PC problem. (Look in device manager and see if your USB controllers are ok)
Looked at Device Manager, no issues under USB.
Comes up as an Android phone...
forget the cable...
try 'Samba Fileshare' app free from the Market.
Connect to your 10.1 over WiFi and send files to it via the shared folder it creates.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.funkyfresh.samba&feature=search_result
Worked fine for me without installing anything.
On another note, the Kies software does seem to somewhat support the 10.1 as it installed the required adb drivers when I chose it from the menu.
im having problems too.... for now I am using dropbox.
I have a shared folder on my PC and use ES File Explorer over Wifi, it's simple and works a treat. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&feature=search_result

I had to disable USB Debugging to get mine to pop up. Took me a while.
Oh thank God I am not the only one having this problem,,, i have tried every driver combo out there plus leaving USB debugging off and still i get nothing on my windows 7 machine. I have tried three different machines and all the same so it is not a computer issue i think it is a driver issue or a interface with the tab????
Interesting thing though is that I can push via ADB all day it that connects easy!!! WTF?????

The drivers aren't available. I have to use Zune to make it work.!! May thats how the Windows phones are designed, im guessing...
had to to do go to diagnostics on my wifes focus the other day , simple fix:
*#7284#
Micro USB Test
USB Path Control:
Zune Sync
Modem,tethered Call
Modem,USB Diag.
she was in Modem USB Diag , had to check Zune Sync , reboot works fime and synced immediately with Zune!

PC cant recognize
I have been struggling with this issue as well.
Simple solution i found (and after reading about million posts on web as well)... ORIGINAL CABLE seems to solve the issue. I saw it posted even on one Korean forum. Seems simple enough, use original data cable that came with phone and that seems to be it. wierd
Totally agreeing with PP
PP is correct in suggesting the original data cable being used.
I had the same issue, the pc would not recognize the phone. The fix for me was to connect to the usb ports on the back of my pc. They were the only ones that let the phone connect to zune.

Btw, for these issues with USB only working on the back of the comp the culprit is either the motherboard (drivers or other) or the PSU (not enough power).
Enderpsp could be right.... Mine was the USB port, I had to plug it in a different port and it started working... Just keep trying, make sure you don't have any USB options about power management in your computer's bios

[Q] Help needed!

Ok so here's the thing. This morning when I woke up I dropped my phone on the floor and the battery flew out.Initially I thought it was nothing but later it started rebooting without any good reason. I tried restarting, it would stay on for a bit then it would go down again. I am(was) running CyanogenMod 7 on a Samsung Galaxy SI. I want to reflash it with Odin as it won't start anymore. At first it would just boot loop but now it won't even get past the first logo. The tricky part is that my PC won't recognize it , all I get is Unknown Device code 43 yada yada BS! I tried alot of drivers, I tried the have disk method with the usb driver from SDK Tools , nothing worked ! Please, give me some suggestions about what I should try more because honestly this is beyond my expertise in this domain.

code 43, has more to do with Hardware, its about your cable and PC ...so check cable, try switch to another USB port
Microsoft engineers answer
I suggest that you connect the Controller to a different USB port and check if you have the same issue.
If this does not work, you can try to uninstall and reinstall the USB controller.
To remove and reinstall all USB controllers, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, type Device manager and open device manager.
2. Right-click every device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers node, and then click Uninstall to remove them one at a time.
3. Restart the computer, and then reinstall the USB controllers.
Disable and enable the USB device:
1. Click on start and type devmgmt.msc.
2. Right click on the caution sign on the USB.
3. Select disable and reboot the computer.
4. Enable the device after reboot.
Also make sure that you download and install the latest version of Software for this. Here is a link you can follow to download the Software:

try and borrow another original samsung USB cable to test first, this is a major culprit, as numerous people including myself have experienced
what happens is one of the pins on the micro usb plug of rolls in and gets broken , also check your USB slot a good cleaning with a brush and alcohol would be good fro the connection ( do it when you have removed battery)
Got another USB cable still nothing... It's very weird, it's like nothing I heard off or read on the forums... Is there any method of connecting to the mobile using SDK manager ? I'm not really familiar to working with the SDK manager.

was your cable an original samsung cable, IF not, many common cable do not work, due to pin configurations
For ADB, you still need connection with USB cable
Here's another thing I could try. If I go to Device Manager - Right Click on Unknown Device - Update Driver Software - Browse I can choose from a list of Samsung Drivers... The question is , which one do I have to choose for my Galaxy S ? Maybe it will work like this

that was the solution given in my first post, have you not tried them all yet? samsung drivers were also attached on it and what PC software do you use XP or ?
In that link it requires your phone to be working and able to go in USB mass storage mode or debugging mode ... My phone can only stay in download mode . I use windows 7 x64 version .

I think you have misunderstood it, there are many solutions mentioned there in, cause I am the one who wrote it ..your option was to try them all to see which one solved it
for win 7 . download this driver http://www.4shared.com/zip/0LQRmsMm/usb_driver.html and give it a go, if the other failed
Tried everything from your guide...even from the microsoft sites...Still can't get my device to be recognized...If I use the Usb driver you sent it won't let me use them even if I manually choose it for my device. Don't really know what to do more honestly other than throw it away and get another phone
http://cagnazzo.name/drupal/vista_corrupted_driverstore
Try the above, then install the Samsung drivers and then connect your device.

Nexus 4 not being recognized in windows 7 - need help

Hi,
Just got a Nexus 4, had a Galaxy S2 before. The problem is that I can't get it to be recognized in Windows 7 x64. Nothing really happens, I plug it, it starts to charge but nothing more, no icon appearing at device manager etc. Tried to install the drivers via nexus 4 toolkit and nothing changed, tried on another windows 7, a notebook and its the same. Changed the USB cable, no difference. Charging and nothing more.
I searched on internet and found similar issues but didn't find a solutions.
PS: Its a new phone, never unlocked or rooted.
Works here dude download latest android SDK and go to device manger on computer update drivers

Installed the toolkit, folowed the instructions but the problem still there. The problem is that when I connect the phone I don't get the "connect to usb" familiar sound but the charging starts. So is not that the drivers are wrong or bad, the problem is that is that the phone doesn't even shows as something in device manager.
Go to your phone settings.... then click on about phone....
then scroll down and hit the "build number 10 times" that will unlock the developer menu
then go back to "about phone" scroll down to the developer menu.
then check box for "usb debugging" and the computer will see the phone.
Had this problem too the first time i got my Nexus 4.
It frustrated me for the first couple of hours when i could'nt connect it to my pc, and no solution seems to work.
However, i found the solution. This was: Install the latest version of Windows Media Player.
This phone uses MTP, instead of mass storage, and thus needs WMP.

I have the latestes WMP version and anyway, I have a digital camera that works in MTP in this same PC.
This is becoming short of solutions and I beginning to think maybe its a nexus 4 hardware fault.
turn them both off and on again
I have this same problem and haven't found a solution yet!
I have this problem only when USB Debugging isn't turned on. I'm not sure what's wrong with it but by computer (running W8 Pro) won't see my phone until I turn on debugging. All drivers are installed but the only way I can copy files to/from my N4 is with debugging enabled.
Would love to see a solution come through and I'll continue looking for one myself to help us all out.
-Sent from that.... you know.... thing that sends these things-
Same issue.
I have tried over 5 computers running windows 7 and about 5 different usb cables.
I have tried having usb debugging checked, unchecked, MTP on/off and PTP on/off.
Still nothing.
Im having this problem too. I tried in 4 different pc's and a mac. My nexus 4 cant be detected. Its just charging. Weird thing is that no "Charging (USB)" on my lock screen just "Charging"
i had the same problem and read everysingle forum and finally found the working solution
Device Manager - right click device (Android ADB OR Nexus 4 ADB interface)
- Update Driver Software
- Browse my computer for driver software
- Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
- then choose "MTP USB Device" OR "USB composite driver"
- Next
here you go instant discovery
make sure you are on MTP and USB debugging is on

I had the same problem. I called Samsung and their 2nd tier eventually solved it. I have smart switch installed on a Windows 7 Professional PC.
Try :
Remove USB Cable
Control Panel > System > Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus Controler
Right click on SAMSUNG Mobile USB Composite Device
Uninstall SAMSUNG Mobile USB Composite Device
Close Device Manager/ Control Panel
Open Smart Switch
Click MORE in the top right
Click Reinstall Device Driver
Allow that to process and do next step whilst Driver installs
On S8
Open phone Dial Pad
enter the following USSD code
*#0808#
in USB settings select
MTP+ADB
Click Reboot
When rebooted, reconnect USB Cable to PC and see if it now connects OK
it did not work
