Nexus 7 (2013) Frozen at Google Screen - Nexus 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello there. A few days ago I was able to update (finally) my Nexus 7 2013 WiFi version to KitKat. However, during some weird screen freezing issues, the tablet refuses to go past the Google screen. I am able to get into fastboot and recovery, but when I try to wipe the device, I get a lot of "failed to mount cache" messages.
The root toolkit also fails because of this, and even sideloading won't work. When I try to unlock the device, I get the blue text screen, but then it freezes at "erasing cache" or something to that effect. Any ideas on how I can fix this? Thanks!

Just for further clarification, I have been using the WugFresh Nexus Root Toolkit, and when I try to erase userdata, it stops right there. Same with when I try to use CMD to fastboot erase userdata.

Wrong device bro. Try searching in nexus 2013 section.

Bricked; will not Unlock nor go into Android

After the 4.2 update my Nexus 7 has been randomly restarting, lately it has been restarting a lot, and now a error would not let me unlock the lock screen and not go into Android. I called service and they said I would have to mail it to them.
I do not want to do this as it may take 2weeks + shipping time each way.
Now after a day of not letting me in, it will not even go into the Android lock screen and just be on a boot loop. I went into the recovery to wipe data and cache.
This did not help anything.
I then tried unlocking using both toolkits and with fastboot via SDK. It always fails and will not unlock.
Are there any other unlock methods? can I use sideload to do anything? I tried sending in a stock zip (don't remember which one I tried) to sideload, but it failed as well.
Any help would be appreciated.

Have I totally bricked my Nexus 7?

Hi,
Regretting this now but was trying to try out a different ROM after a long day so probably missed a step somewhere....
The situation now is that following normal procedure, my Nexus was wiped of user data, new ROM zip file copied across and loaded using recovery mode. After that, it had some error setting permissions with the new ROM and did not install properly (loaded but blank screen, apps, settings etc would not load).
I tried the process again and the same result, but now, I cannot even get adb working, the device is coming up simply as an unknown device and I cannot force install the google usb driver to get adb working again - so now I cannot even copy stock across to the Nexus.
My question is, without adb working now, have I fully bricked it or can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
If you can get into boot loader you can fix it.

To elaborate a little, you'll want to get into the bootloader using the method quoted above, and then use fastboot (or nexus toolkit) to flash a stock image.
Thanks guys, managed to recover back to stock via fastboot and the command line just now .... this will teach me never to try flashing any ROMs when half asleep!
Thanks again :good:

[Q] [SOLVED] (By Wugfresh Toolkit) Device won't boot after oem unlock

Guys,
I OEM Unlocked my N4 but now my phone won't get past the Nexus logo.
I did a factory reset, wiped cache & wiped Dalvik cache. It looks like my phone won't let me wipe the davik cache.
I'm stressed out here, my phone won't boot anymore. I just did as i was told. How can i fix this
Because you have unlocked your phone you can get it fixed, good luck!: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#occamjwr66v
Just go to the bootloader and run the script (please be aware that EVERYTHING will be wiped like files, music, images and much more).

Where do i flash the file to. Wich partition?
Also i'm getting the message "Can't mount SD card" in recovery.
Just put your phone on bootloader mode, connect your phone to your computer and run the batch file on your computer, it will be all fixed at the end.

I did that. My N4 is still not working and stuck on the Nexus logo screen.
HOLY FFFF... "WugFresh's Toolkit" saved my phone. Probably i messed my phone up with my noobness.
Thank you sir! I have my phone back!!
For some it is handy to DO make use of toolkits... Because they are too noob to do it themselves.
I am gladly and willing to learn... But then i need a working phone.

[Q] Nexus 7 gets stuck on google screen.

Hi,
I have a Nexus7(2012) I was previously running Paranoid Android and tried to update to 4.4.
I am using CWM recovery and I used the factory reset option in before I flashed.
The 4.4 ROM didn't work (because it was an ota update). When I tried to boot back into Paranoid Android it wouldn't go past the google screen, and after waiting on the screen it would put me back into recovery. I also don't have a backup to flash. I am also really bad with the fastboot and adb stuff. I just want to put 4.4 on my device, how do I do that?
(I can't transfer anything from my computer to nexus 7 because my computer won't recognise it. But it will make the USB connected sound.)
Thanks for any help!
It also happened to me but I was update via ota and its stuck in bootloader but I still manage to go into recovery mode. I also don't like using adb fasboot but I thing that is the only way that you can bring your nexus to 4.4. But that's only my advice. Maybe other great dev can give you another solution.

I rooted my nexus 6p using Nexus Root Toolkit, the root was succesfull , then I went to recovery mode to flash the images for the new google assistant (im not sure if this is what cause it) , the device will turn on with this message "Your device software can't be checked for corruption. Please lock the bootloader." , then after 3/5 seconds it goes to a Google Logo wth a small opened padlock where th home button is. but it never fully boots, i can access the bootloader and get into the recovery mode, but thats all, how do i fix this?

I'd suggest flashing the factory image via fastboot and doing a complete factory reset as per Heisenberg's guide.

Yep, it bootlooped for me too. I restored from a backup but without a backup, clean wipe will square you away.
i know this is silly but I'm sorta new to all this, how would i do that haha

Look for a flashing guide in Nexus 6p General forum. A complete guide to updating your phone to stock or flashing roms for all scenarios.
