Hi,
I have a Nexus7(2012) I was previously running Paranoid Android and tried to update to 4.4.
I am using CWM recovery and I used the factory reset option in before I flashed.
The 4.4 ROM didn't work (because it was an ota update). When I tried to boot back into Paranoid Android it wouldn't go past the google screen, and after waiting on the screen it would put me back into recovery. I also don't have a backup to flash. I am also really bad with the fastboot and adb stuff. I just want to put 4.4 on my device, how do I do that?
(I can't transfer anything from my computer to nexus 7 because my computer won't recognise it. But it will make the USB connected sound.)
Thanks for any help!
It also happened to me but I was update via ota and its stuck in bootloader but I still manage to go into recovery mode. I also don't like using adb fasboot but I thing that is the only way that you can bring your nexus to 4.4. But that's only my advice. Maybe other great dev can give you another solution.

Hey guys, I am having a hard time making this program work for my n7. I have the n7 32gb wifi with 4.2.1 JOP40D and I put those settings into the program, went into developers mode in the device, put the device on usb debugging and put it in airplane mode. Anyhow, I am trying to back up all apps and I get a message saying "Rebooting your device" then a second later it changes to "Waiting for your device to finish booting back up.." Well my device isnt rebooting or anything. I try manually rebooting but that doesnt change anything. I even tried backup all apps System apps+data and it does the same thing. When I try to exit the program it wont even close, it just hangs so I have to go into task manager to end it. Anybody have any ideas on what I am doing wrong? I want to make sure I have a backup file as I don't want to brick my device.
Check your drivers. There is a thread here on how to do it.

Something similar happened when I rooted mine. First of all make sure you have unlocked it, its very obvious while booting if you have unlocked the boot loader because a big open lock will show at the bottom of the screen during start up. Secondly, and the thing that worked for me, is to change the toolkit to "Android *.*.*.* any" in the model selection menu. As soon as I did that everything worked perfectly.
Thanks for the help guys, it turned out to be my drivers.
Wug's root toolkit won't recognize recovery version??
Hello, I recently upgraded to Wug's v. 1.6.2 and every time I start to use it, it says I have an "old" version of TWRP, 2.3.blah, blah and it wants to install update to latest 2.3.blah, blah........only thing is, I am on the latest 2.4.1.0!!!! Why does it not correctly recognize my recovery??? Thanks in advance.
My buddy is having issues with wugs toolkit getting drivers installed. He installs them but then when he goes to unlock and root its as if drivers are not there. Any ideas? I have been trying to help him with this to no avail he is running windows vista.
Thanks in advance for any ideas

Hi,
Regretting this now but was trying to try out a different ROM after a long day so probably missed a step somewhere....
The situation now is that following normal procedure, my Nexus was wiped of user data, new ROM zip file copied across and loaded using recovery mode. After that, it had some error setting permissions with the new ROM and did not install properly (loaded but blank screen, apps, settings etc would not load).
I tried the process again and the same result, but now, I cannot even get adb working, the device is coming up simply as an unknown device and I cannot force install the google usb driver to get adb working again - so now I cannot even copy stock across to the Nexus.
My question is, without adb working now, have I fully bricked it or can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks
If you can get into boot loader you can fix it.

To elaborate a little, you'll want to get into the bootloader using the method quoted above, and then use fastboot (or nexus toolkit) to flash a stock image.
Thanks guys, managed to recover back to stock via fastboot and the command line just now .... this will teach me never to try flashing any ROMs when half asleep!
Thanks again :good:
Heya...
On my 16GB Grouper I had installed the stock rooted 4.3 rom. Yesterday a system OTA update message appeared on my screen - 1.7 MB. I let it download and install over night and just went to bed. Came back in the morning to a boot loop where the device got stuck with the four colorful thingies animation. I can access the bootloader, but the recovery seems to be broken. Can't remember if I had anything other than the stock one... Anyways, now I'm strugling to get this thing going again. I am a zero at ADB but willing to learn whatever is necessary to get me started with a working recovery at least. No tool root box will do anything really for me...
Thanks for your help in advance
Hey!
Had a problem just like yours. If your running windows then install this program its called nexus tool kit. I'm a newbie here but if you Google 'nexus toolkit wug fresh' you can find it
All you need to do is plug your device in and open the program, then select flash OTA with the boot loop option and then follow the on screen instructions
That should put you back to normal with a fresh start meaning all you data will be lost. You can also root from there to.

Yeah. It would be dumb to actually learn what you are doing to your device. You should totally use a toolkit.

Honestly, I'm just showing the user one way, I anticipated him of being a newbie. For the record, it shows you all the process's happening.

Thank you guys. You might not believe it, but I'm not a newb to Android or flashing. It's just that I've always been playing around with Samsung devices and there you'd normaly turn to Odin in case something went wrong. Here it's different.
Anyways, with this comprehensive guide I've been able to reflash a recovery image and my old rom. Unfortunately losing all of my data in the process, but there was no way to save it.

Hello. I was hoping someone could help me get my phone back to working again. I had cynaogenmod 10.2 installed and then decided to upgrade to kitkat. That worked for about a week until my phone got stuck at the google logo. Since then, I tried to adb sideload my old CM back into the device with which only partially works... It will boot sometimes, but it has all kinds of issues with wifi, Bluetooth, making calls..etc. In fact, at this point all roms seem to not be able to install via adb sideload now. I would ideally like to have kitkat back to running again. I have clockwork recovery if that helps. I see lots of forums talk about fastboot, but I do not know how to get fastboot working. I also don't care about any data on the phone. It could be wiped clean for all I care. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Jeff
Follow this guide really carefully: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
Contains step by step fast boot procedures.
Don't worry, you'll recover your device.
Good luck!
Wugfresh toolkit will have you up and running in no time.

Yep what he said. I completely messed my phone up a few weeks back couldn't get past the Google logo. Wugfresh had me back to stock with no problems.

Hey guys, just like the title says...I cannot get a recovery on my nexus 7 2013 (Wifi). I don't get it, I had this thing rooted with TWRP for over a year and a half on Lollipop 5.0.1 and haven't really used the device for a long time....Now Marshmellow is out and my Nex 7 (being the only Nexus device I have currently) figured I'll update to 6.0 and check it out using Wug's toolkit like always. So I used the unroot flash stock option and successfully flashed 6.0 on my device but for some reason cannot get it to boot into a recovery? Not the stock one?...not TWRP?.....no CWR? I have flashed all in Wug's and it just keeps going to the little android screen with NO Command under him. Yes I am doing the button combo correctly to get recovery to show. Wug's automatically tries to boot into it and it still sticks at the android guy screen? Hell I even flashed back to Lollipop just to see if it was Marshmellow that was the culprit but still no avail? Has this happened to anyone else? Is there a fix? I just wanna know I'll be safe if I bork something without reflashing to stock. Other than this problem everything else works fine.
there is a separate section of nexus 7 2013 on xda
try to google correct forum
