Taking pictures in recovery - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know how to take pics in recovery on lg g2? Is it even possible? I remember a script for the galaxy nexus but was unable to get it to work with adb in twrp...
anyone have any suggestions?
I edited a theme for twrp and would like to take some nice pics of it! =]
Thank you!

Possible Brick?[Solved with Nandroid Backup]

I know you guys hate when people jump the gun...but I'm honestly running out of ideas here. Earlier today I tried to use LCD Density changer on my Nexus S...whether this was stupid on my part, you all can decide later. As for now my nexus boots a black screen. I'm only posting here cuz maybe in finding a solution we can uncover a bit about how the nexus is set up, because it seems to refuse any changes made to the system through fastboot or adb push.
I have tried just about every option to restore the system to stock format, and need help getting my nexus back to booting condition. I've tried fastboot flashing the system.img and just get a "write failed" error. I've pushed the whole system dump to /system through adb and when i reboot it is still missing the files i just pushed. I've flashed different boot.img's in combination with the first two steps, and still my phone remains unbootable.
Any ideas what could be going wrong?

Is it safe to say you didnt do nandroid restore prior?
Yes, that is correct...didn't think it'd cause this much of a problem(stupid me). I asked earlier if maybe some could upload a nandroid restore for me so I could at least attempt that. But I got no response, so I'm still in the dark.

Hahahahaha best thing I've heard all day
Apparently the NS is super-brickable, according to JBQ (@jbqueru) on android-building:
-Even though Nexus S is designed to be suitable for AOSP work, there
are some caveats. I very strongly recommend against trying to use
Nexus S for anything related to AOSP at the moment. Trying to unlock
or use your Nexus S for AOSP work could easily turn it into a Nexus B
(where B means "brick"); I have two of those, they're not very useful.
I'll send some guidelines about what is currently possible once I've
finished pushing the source code.

Is there anyway I can get the link for that nandroid? I seem to have messed my system files up as well.

maybe you can upload it to mediafire or somewhere else, and create a thread? it might help others out
ill take your advice on that Thanks
adb push may not have been working because your system wasn't mounted properly in Clockwork recovery. I had this issue when trying to root. In Recovery, go to Mounts & Storage and hit "Mount System" THEN adb push the system dump.
You probably didn't need to nandroid. Could have just used adb to reset the density line in your build.prop I assume?

Hi guys, i'm the developer of LCD Density Changer. Sorry about the problems it caused.
Is it true that the Nexus S, doesn't support a density change. That would be a real bummer! Not for the app, but in general. I just don't hope Google blocks a density change in their new Android versions.
A question: does the "preview/temporarily" density change works in the LCD Density Changer app. If so, there is still hope.
Meanwhile, based on these reports I will put up a note to warn Nexus S users.

[Q] nexus 4 no os installed?

so today when android 4.4 came out i really wanted it. so i was trying to unroot my nexus so i could get android 4.4, but every time i did a factory reset it was still rooted and on a custom rom. so i wiped pretty much EVERYTHING from my phone (from recovery mode) and now i have no os. can someone please help me??!?!?!? i have the N-cry toolkit, but when i put the rom files into the roms folder, nothing happens. it never works. I am so confused, i looked on other threads and they have very, well, general directions, and i have no idea what they are saying. something about pushing a rom with adb onto my phone? idk. please make it make sense for a noob like me. I dont know anything about this whole pushing thing, or sideload. please help me out guys it would be much appreciated! thank you!
can your phone boot into fastboot?
if it can, try to flash with factory images from google.

Factory reset doesn't restore a backup of the stock ROM, it simply wipe data.
This is what you need to do:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312
Remember, you overwrite the stock ROM when you flash a custom ROM; the stock ROM is no longer on your device.
And you shouldn't use a toolkit (unless you know how to do it manually) - rooting isn't about having a quick fix to make your device cool, its about learning along the way and knowing what you are doing, and ending up with a better device at the end.

^^^^ he is so right... Now here is where you should start http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2010312 . Question - why are you unrooting to root again. Now you doing this caused you all these issues when you could of just waited for a rooted rom which there is a variant of KitKat in development already.
Hope you get it all working but in the future sit back and relax and wait for a developer to make a rom for you too flash.

i cant put any files onto my device, all i can do is recovery mode and fastboot. i cant install drivers to the phone or put anything on it. The commands dont do anything at all like "fastboot devices" i cant put any roms on it unless there is a different method than just copy and pasting.
EDIT****************
I asked my dad for some help and he helped me figure out the whole push files and adb thing. we were able to push cyanogenmod 10 and flash it. it worked out, and now im trying to put back the nandroid that i made before i wiped everything. but thanks guys for helping out and telling me to do the adb push thingy! thanks guys! sorry for being a n00b!!!

[Q] Rebooting into ART.

Hi,
The title says it all.
I've recently flashed this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2507021
and was planning to convert from dalvik into ART.
Now the thing is that I was able to convert it into ART, but found out that my phone wasn't booting after 30mins or so, so i figured my phone wouldn't boot after all.
I've returned to dalvik and configured everything into what I wanted other than ART.
Would like to ask if anyone has got this problem, and how to fix this?
And if anything else, would anyone be kind enough to explain in brief whats the difference of ART and dalvik?
Thanks in advance.
Why don't you flash factory stock nexus 4 image instead of using a port, and make sure you factory reset.
This video is decent to explain it:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5oliXcOqxg
Or http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/1...-in-secret-for-over-2-years-debuts-in-kitkat/
sent from nexus 4
Thanks!
Thanks for your reply!
I've seen the video just as you linked it here. Got a pretty good idea of what ART can do.
And it makes me wanna convert into ART even more.
And thanks too for your advice. I don't quite like stock as I felt a little ''caged'' in, and the urge to just flash new ROMs always kicks in.
Anyway, do you have any idea of what's the problem in not being able to reboot into ART? Could it be that I have to wait longer for it to boot into ART?
Thanks in advanced!
Like I said, flash factory stock for the nexus 4 instead, it'll have less bugs, and make sure you factory reset in the recovery first. If you need instruction, link in my sig with adb/fastboot and drivers.
When you first boot switch to ART right away. Normally it take as much as twice longer on first boot compared to Dalvik, but not more.
If you want to try other roms, do what I do, after installing stock, install MultiRom and multiboot into as many roms as you want.

I've heard of the multiROM being a good alternative. I'll check that out.
Thanks for your reply!
Anyway, solved the problem by flashing the latest bootloader.

Weird STRIPES in CAMERA view

Hi there.
Just check the video, everything's in there.
Forgot to mention that I'm rooted and with TWRP recovery flashed.
Not sure how long I have those stripes, if you guys have no idea what is causing them, I think the best way to go will be returning to absolutely stock, and step by step install every mod I had and need (root, recovery, XCam adv. drivers etc.) with tests inbetween them. What do you think?
up, I guess...
Stripe caught on photo! https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/18111725/20150702_095914.jpg
Any idea? Visible in different camera apps too (lgCamera etc.)
No one?
Anyone?
I'll give you a free bump.
I had this problem before, asked for help on it and never got any help.
Unfortunately this is how things are in these G2 forums, just be happy no one has said "try searching".
I hate it here.
Mine went away on its own I guess since it's not happening anymore.
My videos would also freeze frame for minutes.
Try the xcam flashable mod or try CM with Google camera app(included in stock flashable gapps)?
Maybe when I ToT/KDZ restored it might have done something to fix it but it wipes your internal storage too.

[ROOT] need to upload few files

Hi i was messing aroung with rooted Nexus and was trying to flash 60fps mod and it's choppy, buggy and not stable at all. I would like to go to the stock without making factory reset so, could you, please, dear person upload for me those files? (Android 7+)
liboemcamera.so
libmmcamera_imx377.so
from system/vendor/lib/
and
media_profile.xml
from system/etc
Or you can send it to me via email [email protected] thank you so much.
Just reflash the rom, without wiping data.
But i have developer build of Android 8.0 and i only need to flash system.img because i have already flashed TWRP recovery. Is it possible to re-flash just system.img? I know it will delete all data and cache that's why i needed only those specific files.
Please could you just upload those 3 specific files? I don't wanna any other solution than this... Please.

I'm not on O, but flashing the system.img with twrp does not wipe your data, just dirty flash. Make a backup, if you feel uncomfortable.
Edit: flash twrp.img as recovery after flashing system.img, and reboot to recovery before booting the system. Or after flashing twrp recovery, mount system, use twrp filemanager and delete recovery-from-boot.p. under system. Both ways should keep twrp as your recovery.
I did flash system.img but, the camera behaves weird. I mean. When i switch to video mode the view is zoomed in (kinda drastically) when compare to camera mode. There is like 25% zoom on the video mode. I don't know what i did wrong but i know that this isn't "normal" behavior. The difference between camera mode and video is huge. It is really zoomed in. I need those files from either Android 8.0 or 7.1.2 it doesn't really matter. I just need those specific files.

Ok
Thank you so much. Copied files, but the video is still weird. It can't focus on close objects clearly. And the latency between what i record and what i see is big. I'd say around 200ms? Is there any way i can revert it back to default?
If you feel your phone is messed up, backup with tibu and do a clean install.
Always best thing to do, or wipe everything except data and internal, reinstall the system.img

Just flash the vendor image and that should be it. That is what I did when I accidentally deleted these files and the camera app stopped working.
Okay, thanks. Will try it on the weekend.
did you fix it? I had the same issue
can you please help me fix this??
