Hey guys, i just wanna ask for a good rom, i want a rom with Good Battery Life, Better performance than stock also a good Kernel for all this, ive searched and so far majority of people ive seen run P.A and Franco's Kernel, however P.A is on 4.3 and i would love to hop in with 4.4 , also it has some features i like, mainly all i want is Halo and "Expanded Desktop", with pie functionality.
Anyone got any good ideas, ive looked at Purity, which has everything i want except Halo, so is their any way to get that.
Also can i dupe the awesome performance seen in RastaKat
Thanks in advance, and sorry for all these questions!, im new...

Asking for a "good" ROM/Kernel is another way of asking for a "best" which is not allowed on XDA. Please head over to the development section and see which "best" suits your needs.

I am just looking for suggestions on which kernel to use with my stock 4.2.1 Rom? There seems to be two in my mind (Motley and Mako), but I don't know which one to use. If you guys don't mind, can you guys give me a couple feedback on these two kernels or any other kernels. Thank you for your time
Franco. Love it. Tried others and I always go back.
There's not such thing as best kernel
Don't ask
This will only start a flame war over which kernel has the most "bleeding edge" features. Besides you have a crackflasher's dream phone with a growing dev community second to none (except maybe gnex for now).
Apologies
Sorry I should have rephrased the title. I am just asking for suggestions and your experience with different kernels. I have no intention of flaming a war or creating a poll. I am new to the nexus 4 forum and just need a little help. Sorry for inconvenience
franco kernel
franco.
but not a good combo with CM mod.
just like... cuties:
play with all of them.

Agree, would prefer trinity and CM.
Thread closed. There is no such thing as a best kernel or anything to that point. Everyone has an opinion and this won't help you choose what's best for you so please read the first post's from the kernel threads and decide if they have the features that are best for you then try them yourself. It's an easy process so you could even try them all.
Thanks

Hi All
I really like the Echoe roms but was wondering which Rom is the best for your battery life?
thanks
Paul
Try it out for yourself. This question is not allowed here, because there is no best.

Then they don't know what they are talking about. There is no big difference between roms in battery life. There can be a difference, but that comes from how the user uses his phone and/or if it's an AOSP rom or the rom uses a different kernel with maybe some tweaks.
Every rom that claims that it has the best battery life, the fastest and the smootest is lying. They can never prove it and a good rom doesn't need those claims
1) Use the latest one unless you read something that would justify using an older echoe rom.
2) Do NOT ask for a 'best rom' on XDA, ever. This WILL be shut down.
3) What is the best? One with all TW features, the fastest, the slimmest, the longest battery, the most processing power, more gpu, less gup, more apps, less bloatware, more features? There is no such thing.
Do NOT ask for an ETA, do not ask for a best ROM. Read the XDA charter or watch the intro video (it's like 90 seconds long).
I'm not trying to have a go at you, but if you don't read the basic stuff here you perhaps should not be flashing ROMs on your phone. The best advice for rooting/installing/flashing is always read, read and read some more.
Mod Edit
"Best" ROM/kernel threads are not allowed on XDA.
Please test these things for yourself.
This is the only way you will get an unbiased opinion, and then, you can decide for yourself if it meets YOUR needs.

So i just got the g2 about a week ago, coming from an iphone and getting back into android. I was curious what the most stable rom was for the g2 and which ones were good in your opinions. Also i have looked a little into rooting it but there seems to be more steps than i temember with my droid x2. Could someone post the steps or link me to a thread that thoroughly describes it, all help is appreciated, thanks friends

If this thread is open long enough, every rom available will be suggested at least once. If there was a "best rom", there would only be one rom. Are you capable of understanding this fact? That's why threads like this are forbidden on xda.

I understand the flaw in the way i put the title, but i was asking about the most stable rom. Also i was asking people for their opinions of the rom, so yes i would get multiple rom suggestions. Yes i am capable of understanding the fact, thank you for the condescending reply on my first post here though i feel very ****ing welcomed
Personally for me I am using the Inverted Energy ROM with furnace kernel and I couldn't be happier. Sure its not a kitkat rom, but it runs smooth and reliably. If you have a d801 device check Energy ROM out.

For what it's worth, I'm using Paranoid Android on the VS980 and its pretty great. Very vanilla right now, but I like it that way.
Also, put your armor on because that's just XDA's schtick. You'll usually get ridiculed before you are given a kind hand and pointed the right direction. It's a great place to find resources, but it can also be a nightmare to locate the people who aren't riding around the forum with their noses up.

For the best stability a stock or LG Flex based rom is recommended
Also, by far the best kernel for this phone is Dorimanx' kernel (for stock and flex roms)
Recently, the developer of the most popular rom quit developing his rom further, but it's still the best in my book. If you want stability, simplicity and lightweight I'd definitely look at either Cloudyfa's Flex rom or just keeping it stock, rooting it, debloating it yourself and using some of the great Xposed modules that are available for the G2.
Thanks for the recent suggestions guys they've great. I have the g2 from Verizon so its the vs 980. Are the flex roms the ones that can be used on any of the models? I have just rooted my device so I'm looking into how to debloat. Ive usually preferred a rom over the stock. And as far as the different kernels go, im completely in the dark about them, I've never experimented with loading new ones on my phone. My game consist of just flashing the roms. With my droid x2 it had the removable sd card but with the g2 I'm a little confused on the route to take when flashing the rom itself
Just one advice.
use any stock ROM and avoid kitkat for now because they don't include native applications like quickremote.
I've tried many roms including kitkat roms and finally came back to a ROM based on stock firmware.
good luck.
We do not allow best ROM/Kernel threads on XDA. Depending on your use and your liking what is best for you may not be best for someone else and vice-versa. Head over to the development section try some out and see which "best" suits your needs.

From personal experience what is the best kitkat rom out right now? I know there quite alot out of them but I'd rather not be going through all of them. I'd prefer what you guys are using. Also would like to know why you think its the best?
Hows the battery life, performance and what are the bugs in these roms?
Thanks in advance
Sorry, but "best" ROM threads are not allowed. Please just try the ROMs for yourself, everyone's experience is different.

Hi guys
sorry if this has been asked before but what is the best custom rom to install on my phone?
thanks in advance for any replies
There is no such thing as a best ROM.
There is only your favorite ROM.
Best is subjective and depends on the user. Do you want touchwiz or stock android? Do you want speed and performance or great battery life? Do you want to theme it? What features do you want/need? Do you want it to work right away or do you want to tweak it to make it totally custom?
These are questions only you can answer.
The best option for you and the greatest learning experience is to read the threads in the development forum and learn about the different options. Pick a couple ROMs that sound like they might be good for you and flash each one for a few days and test it. See what features you like or dislike. And tweak your final ROM selection based on that.
That is the ONLY way to make sure you get the best ROM for YOU
