hi,iam new to this thread,i want to upgrad my samsung galaxy to latest version,so is it possible to upgrade?if it is means pls guide me to upgrade my mobile
Gingerbread is the latest android version available for duos
You can check sammobile.com/firmwares to check latest stock rom baseband versions for your region
Custom Gingerbread roms and cm7 roms will be in dev section - read them for me details about rom features
Or simply update it from your phone if you are having internet on it.
Go to Settings
Scroll down to About Phone (last option)
then software update.
Now it will download the update & will ask to install it.
Your phone should be charged at least 30% for this.

It is not possible like I told you - duos only supports Gingerbread! There is no jellybean for duos!
That means only 2.3.6 stock based or 2.3.7 cm7 based are available
There is no 4.0+ available
There is cm9 available for GT-S5300 but it only boots nothing else works
There will be no working cm9 because the drivers for this phone have not & will not be released
If you want to play mentioned games properly buy a phone with at least ics and an armv7 processor
(Galaxy y is armv6 and not suitable for hd games)
you can't samsung has give up on development of y duos the development we have is xda :good:

For those of you who don't yet know, there are 2 new STOCK firmwares that are fresh and way newer than the old N7100ZSALJA (the one that Wanam used for his 4.1.1 ROM version 1.5) build date 24.10.2012; change list: 343940.
Other DEVS used this stock base as well for their last 4.1.1 Custom Roms, after that as we know a 4.1.2 ROM has been leaked N7100XXDLJ2 , build 29.10.2012, change list 422394.
Now that every DEVS has been developing their custom ROMs based on this leak, they might probably forgot about the 4.1.1 stock ROMs were still going out.
Recently, the 2 way more fresh than the N7100ZSALJA (4.1.1) as well as the N7100XXDLJ2 (4.1.2):
1) N7100ZCALK3 - Build 19/11/2012 - Change list 447762 (yes, that is even greater than the Change list of the old leaked 4.1.2)
Download link: http://hotfile.com/dl/181532671/9df...7100_CHN_1_20121121101609_b87nakznm9.zip.html
2) N7100ZCALK5 - Build 30/11/2012 - Change list yet to be updated but I'm sure it's even greater than the 4.1.1 CALK3.
Download link: http://www.hotfile.com/dl/182265692/61368c2/N7100ZCALK5_N7100CHNALK5_CHN.zip.html
As to me, imho, the last 4.1.1 rom that DEVS used for their 4.1.1 custom ROM (the N7100ZSALJA) was okay, no major problems, and then they all moved to the leaked 4.1.2 which was developing, I believe, in parallel with the 4.1.1 ROM.
Yes, I believe strongly that the 4.1.2 and 4.1.1 are now being developed, as well as tested, parallel-y by the Samsung.
I really hope that Samsung will be releasing the 4.1.2 official stock ROMs soon, not the Leaked versions.
Have been wondering why the DEVS stop releasing the ROMS based on the 4.1.1; as the stable and good ROM (base) results a great custom ROM as well (along with the DEVS original tweaks). I have been hearing ppl complaining about the 4.1.2 being buggy in this or that cases, so why stop developing the 4.1.1 "rock solid and stable" roms
Seems like these 2 ROMS are not compatible for the International Note 2.
Tried to flash both of them yesterday via Odin but failed, ought to flash the stock back.
This firmware has the same new features that 4.1.2 leaked?

Both in SamMobile and Samsung-Update show as for N7100, not for N7105.

hey guys, i want to know if jelly bean custom roms for galaxy y are actually jelly bean,i was reading on the web that idk what rom was actually 2.3.6 but reskinned and everything to look like jb and im confused, and are devs going to port android 5 key lime pie on the y? i mean, they were saying that android 5 will work even on 512 mb of ram devices and i was like ***** please, we are running 4.2 on 300 mb not 1 gb, so are we going to get android 5 custom roms? and will they actually be android 5 and not 2.3? sorry for my crappy english and if i could of found these informations on other threads, i just want to be sure what im flashing and if its gonna be smooth, im really excited for android 5:fingers-crossed:
There is no official android 4.x on galaxy y - any rom claiming such thing is lying and have changed the build.prop to display android 4.x in about phone but you can change it to display any android version you like
at the moment android 2.3.6 is the only stable android version on galaxy y although cm7 android 2.3.7 is stable with a few minor bugs
cm9 android 4.0.4 is bootable on galaxy y but is currently not stable
Cm9 is 4.0.4 and not 3xx
Many Greeeeetz!!!

If you are staying stock, go with the latest 4.2.2 firmware as it has improvements in regard of gaming drivers and lags compared to 4.1.2.
There's GENNXT, that's the most stable available stock based ROM.
Advantage of stock would be better gaming experience, samsung apps and dual SIM functionality
While the down side would be the usage of RAM is a little higher, as can be expected by stock based ROMs, so expect freezes and lags every now and then.
If you are going custom, in 4.2.2 there's only CM11 that was just released 3 days ago. If you opt to downgrade to 4.1.2, there's an array of ROMs available like PAC-MAN, MoKee, SlimBean, Resurrection and so on.
Personally I would recommend SlimBean, as it's the one I'm usually on and it's the one with the best battery backup, but all of them are full of customizations.
Advantage of being on these would be great performance, close to no lags at all, and starts with over 500 Mb RAM free
And the main disadvantage would be single SIM functionality and limited graphic drivers from 4.1.2 firmware

for android 4.4.1 cm11(4.4.2 not available yet) you have to use a specific recovery which supports SELinux .....you can find more information about it on cm11 thread...
slim 4.4.2 if you are thinking about(slimcat which is called) , is not at all stable yet !!! so there is no 4.4.2 i clear again....
visit this link and see installing procedure if u want this rom !

the i9500 has a different chipset than the google play edition s4 so we don't have the same aosp sources that's why roms like cm and pa are still a little buggy cause we are using a custom device tree made by a developer. The closest you can get to a stock android feel is by flashing cm which woulkd require you to root your phone:good:

Morning:
I have an old Galaxy Y GT S5360 that is rooted with the stock ROM on it. My girlfriend broke her phone so I gave her this one to use until she can get another phone.
Is there a STABLE custom ROM out there that can support the latest browser(s) and has access to the play store?
Most of the ones I have seen appear to just be Gingerbread with various UI facelifts; or they claim to be Android 4.XX but really aren't.
I need a functional phone, a functional browser, functional wifi, and functional play store.
Anyone seen one of these in the wild?
Thanks for your time
N
Yes, Cyanogenmod 11 is the newest version available (and possible) for the Galaxy Y, this is the main thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2765874
Download for ROM: http://www.mediafire.com/download/a361f02wti4dhrk/cm-11.0.0-GT-S5360-totoro.zip
Gapps is here, make sure to use this one since other ones can brick your phone, break wifi etc: http://www.mediafire.com/download/o8awd5jbmc7l5cs/gapps-kk444-(20160719)-v5.0.zip
Follow instructions in the thread I linked for install
Thanks Anyhoo

Thanks for responding champ, but CM 11 doesn't look very promising at the moment (or Cm 9 or Cm 7 either)
Guess it's a doorstop
Cheers
This phone is too old to get the latest Android versions. Either you flash a CM rom (which you said you don't want to) or a stock based rom ("Gingerbread with various UI facelifts")
Stock based roms are usually more stable.
