Hey fellas,
I have a question. Is it possible to get a RMA after One year?
I got my nexus 4 in December 2012 and rma'd it because of broken volume rockers in January.
Now that I wanted to buy a Nexus 5 and therefore sell my nexus 4 I recognized a few things on my nexus 4 while doing a thoroughly inspection.
The chrome of the display frame is slowly vanishing although I never dropped my phone or treated it in a rough way. Always in my jeans pocket.
Furthermore, the case is creaking when I press slightly on the back. And the volume rocker and power button are creaking as well.
And what i'm not sure of if its normal or not: the front camera shows my face only if I pivot the to the left and down. The camera seems to be tilted.
All these things would decrease the selling price significantly. Do you guys have any experience if a RMA is possible for those reasons and after such a long time? The creaking problems existed from the beginning btw.
Thanks
You used it and now you want a new one to sell? NICE.

If they existed from the beginning, you should've got them replaced at the beginning
after using it for a year how could you think Google would give you a new one

Yeah Google, super spy master nsa brown nosing tax dodgers, are a company to be respected.
Charge back.
What is it with you forum people? Can't you just answer a question without judging? Why not take advantage of something? Google is one of the richest companies in the world.
I only want to know if it is possible to get a RMA after a year or not. Repaired or replaced. I don't care.
If it's not the creaking case, it's the tilted camera. That's definitely not my fault and since I never used the front camera I never recognized it.

You were answered. The simple answer is no. Those issues do not justify a RMA.

Lol nice try but no you cannot RMA after using it for a year.

I broke my AMOLED screen while skiing. It is replaceable and a lot cheaper than buying a new phone. You can find new screens on ebay for $70-$80 usually. Make sure you find out whether you have an AMOLED or SLCD so you can get the right screen. Google can help you determine that.

I have an AMOLED screen but i dont wish it to replace. I'm looking for replacement between a Galaxy Nexus or a White Skyrocket for $200. My Nexus One still works. I still use it with the broken screen to call my boyfriend (I'm female), i just memorized how to get into the favorites contacts and call, hehe but just him. It's useless screen is now completely black and non existant.
I was charging it and it suddenly fall down into the floor, as usual. It was not a very hard hit per se, but must be the angle.
Must be slot of that going on my phone usually falls hard with no prob. Two days ago it fell like6 inches screen is now cracked

Is it ICS 4.0?
Oh poor cellphone
You should pay more attention to it, especially with water, it kills many electronic devices. And you can still use it by changing a LCD
Try replacing the screen. Hope all other things are fine
Dont give up the NEXUS ONE
Well those screenshots are from a Galaxy Nexus . So its ICS and slightly redundant to ask her to save the N1 You, my friend, have a generous benefactor! You could keep the N1 in a glass cabinet in memoriam of the first Nexus device. Should have a lot of value a couple of decades later!

lol, downgraded to a Galaxy Nexus. Our N1s are already going to be historic in the Hall of Fame of phones. I'm going to pretend the G1 never existed .
Heck, she should send me the broken N1. I'll fix it up good as new. Luckily, I'm still using my N1 without any major issues. I'm due for an upgrade sometime next year. HTC Nexus 4 I hope?
If youre interested in selling your broken N1 I would be interested in purchasing it! PM me if so.
Anyone ever heard of their chassis coming away from the glass above the port? Woke up this morning to find this.

Unfortunately, I can't say that I have heard of this happening before. My 10.1 isn't experiencing that, and neither are any of the 10.1's owned by friends and family. At the same time, our tablets are the earlier versions (purchased at launch) that are lacking the Samsung branding under the glass above the charging port. I have a question for you though, has your device been in to Samsung for service? If not, have you contacted Samsung about this? This is definitely something that is covered under the Manufacturer's warranty.
Just received the return shipping label. They asked what I'd want if it couldn't be fixed? I said a 32 instead of a 16 if it had to be replaced. LOL I doubt they show me that kind of love.

keep complaining... that's the ONLY way with this bozos....you'll eventually get to a "manager" who will take you to another "manager", then they will either replace it or fix it.....i did that for 18 times with my hp laptop...what a piece of junk.
Just pissed never so much trouble with them. I have several TVs from them and a phone never no problems.

So they sent it back despite the pics and everything, wanted me to pay 199.99? Totally dissatisfied with this. I own several nice pieces of Sammy equipment and never any issues....
Hmm, look at that, I kind of see a sliiiight little bump on mine too. I can press on it and see that it does deform a tad. Now you got me all paranoid. Its definitely no where near as bad as yours though.
I really hate to revive such an old thread but the bezel near my charging port has cracked exactly as described as well. Has this happened to anyone else and has anyone gotten a resolution. It seems this is definitely a manufacturers defect
I have no light bleed. I have no screen lift. My speaker is awesome.
But....
I get a creaking when I press the center of the back of the tablet.
Should I return it?
I think I can live with it, but I don't know if it will get worse.
Has anyone had this issue get worse?

how often to you press on the back of the tablet? if it is often, i would probably complain.
if it isn't very much, like how I use my tablet, i wouldn't worry about it.
and if you plan on using a case, it probably wont matter at all once it is in there.
That's what I was thinking.
If it is in a case, who cares.
But I know it it's there....mocking me...
Asus has poor design and quality control. I know this. I should be able to live with creaking.
I am hypersensitive about any flaw after the nightmares I had with the TF201 and TF101.
As long as the problem won't get worse or have any other adverse effects, I think I should just live with it.
Sent from my SGH-I747M using xda app-developers app
Not worth returning I'd say. Your replacement could have something worse, like screen lift, etc.
Throw it in a case and don't worry about it
Yeah not worth a return, just a rudy Nuisance!
I'd probably return it. But that's just me. It would drive me insane.

Best and Worst Device ever
Its amazing how this nexus device is the best ever when it comes to speed and performance . But its the worse or near when it comes to build quality so inconsistent..
FFS take it back & get an iPad or some other tab!

i had a new mini van where the side door made a slight pop noise when it completely shut . I Thought it works fine no big deal. A few weeks later i parked on a heal facing down. I Opened the door to put bags in behind drivers seat. The jar caused what ever was causing the pop to come loose and the door nearly cut me in half.. Ok it moved toward me swiftly.. Took van to dealer . It was a defective latch. Maybe something was not assembled right .So to ask a question about my tablet makes a noise is logical to wonder about..
yes my mini van was 34 grand .. but the amount of money should not matter . you should get what you pay for. a working with no flaws device.. I see this over and over saying its only 200.00 what do you expect.. You expect if they cant make it right for 200.00 they should make it right and charge more.. NO OFFENCE ANYONE but we do not live in a 3rd world country and expect higher standards ..
Just my two cents... If your tablet bothers you with noises send it back by all means..

It's obvious that these hardware defects are mentioned right in the Nexus 7's product description as features. That means you should accept them, and continue using your device, because after all, it's clearly stated the device comes with such defects...
In all seriousness though, if your device has any imperfection, you have the choice to try again. However, since defects are random, you can end up with a better, worse, or no-change tablet. Some retailers are better at handling device returns than others however, but that's something that should be looked into prior to buying from that store.
These threads are amazing. Its no wonder the entire country is on Prozac. My god its nice being normal!

The back is made of plastic, it flexes ever so slightly. By pressing the back he is distorting the original shape & the creak is due to the back moving against the clips that hold the back in place, that is all. It is not a defect, it is natural for one object flexing against one that has no give to cause a small amount of noise.
If I buy a leather chair & park my fat arse on it & the leather makes a noise against the seat base is it defective? No!

So I was unlucky enough to drop my N4 before I was able to get a case for it. I dropped it from my lap while getting out of a taxi so it wasn't a full on drop. At first I thought the only damage was cosmetic - a nick on the chrome trim on the top right corner of the phone.
However afterwards I noticed a small white/bright spot on the screen near that corner where it looks like the backlight is bleeding through. It's most notice-able when the screen is showing something white, less notice-able with colors (red, green, blue etc), and completely fine when showing black.
I've checked some info and it doesn't seem like it's a dead pixel, and just seems overall larger than a dead pixel. At the same time it doesn't seem like a lit pixel either since it's not visible on black. At the moment I'm very thankful that the phone is still very much use-able, but would like to find out what the problem is, and perhaps how intensive a repair this would involve since it is a bit annoying sometimes.
Anyone have had a similar problem or have any ideas?
Is normal. Stop obsessing about it. No phone is perfect. Even my wife's iPhone 4s has defects. If you are looking for flaws, you will find them, guaranteed. Just use your phone like you used to.

Yeah I'm definitely learning to live with it. It may also not look so bad in a photo but it's still pretty noticeable when you're holding the phone in your hand - especially when I'm scrolling around and you can see this static white spot that doesn't move.
Just overall interested in what the problem is as well. I've seen dead pixels and also phones that were dropped where the screen looks completely fubar'd... but haven't been able to find any examples where the screen is like this.
RMA if it's that annoying. Assuming ur phone doesn't look too damaged that they'll say it was your fault.
I do see a few scratches on the screen. Google may not RMA for that reason. If there is another reason like a defect, use that to RMA. IML no Nexus 4 is perfect. I have RMA'd about 4 times till now with a new reason every time. Now after completely blocking my credit card, I have learned to live with an imperfect Nexus 4

Where do you see the scratches? I haven't even noticed them!
I guess from the replies I should learn to live with it then. Thing is I really thought this was due to the drop, but it's also possible it was a defect that I didn't notice... I saw some N4s with the light bleed problem, but were from the edges of the screen, that's why I really thought this was due to damage.
Send it back in, duh. It's still under warranty. :crying:

Hi! My Note didn't survive switching casing. I switched from the original fake skin plastic cover into a s view cover! And the plastic cover ripped some of the plastic under the volume buttons! Also, while trying a casing for my Note! The buttons became really loose! Would this be under warranty or hardware failure?

Err potentially they may see it as accidental damage. But they may be nice enough to fix/replace still.
Since the phone is so new it's quite irritating that the build quality isn't so good as expected! I have carrier warranty so Knox doesn't mean anything right? It's uncomfortable to have it in my hand since the volume rocker is sharp..

Carrier's don't care about KNOX, chances are your carrier will fix/replace for you without issues. Most tend to do so
I have a s-view case and it didn't do any damage to my phone. I took it off a couple of times and put it back on and my phone still perfect.

I don't have s-view, but I had used couple cheap copies which mount the same way and I imagine either the plastic was already cracked/ weakened or somehow you pressed way too hard on one side, before aligning it properly. At this point IMO you have no choice but just see what they say, or you want to wait to see if there is Knox reset fix if and when?
Samsung seriously needs to stop it's plasticstuff. asking my carrier for a repair/replacement tomorrow! First Samsung phone! and maybe last. since it's bloated with tons of stuff.. might sell this one if i get it repaired and buy the S5!

Plastic is better for signal, and impact as it can absorb more, metal will dent it also loses its sheen eventually (The back of iphones for example will get ugly quick) . Seems that it was probably a bad phone that was already stressed in that spot. Ive had a note 2 come with a broken battery cover and carrier switched it, also no phone really shines without custom roms but bloatwise you can use the N3 de-bloat script and pick and choose what you want to keep.
Carrier will hand you a working device no problem

This just happened to my Note 3. The plastic under the volume button just cracked and it is hanging out. I baby this thing and have had it since earlier this year. Coming from iPhones (durability ftw) - this is a huge disappointment. It's spent most of its life in a case too... Really disappointed about this.
