So I'm wanting to play my Google movies on my flat screen and am thinking about trying a mhl adapter but didn't know if it works since our USB setup is different being a 3.0. Will I be okay just using the 2.0 USB for the adapter? Thanks everyone. It's either this or Chromecast.
Yeah it does work. The only thing is it used to play the movie on the phone to, but now it just says connected to hdmi. I used the 2.0 and it worked perfect. Crystal clear screen.

Thanks for that feedback. Would you mind sharing what brand adapter you used?
I wonder if there is an optimized mhl cord to take advantage of our dual slot 3.0 adapter for faster streaming.
By the way. When I was swyping the word "faster" it kept on outputting "gayer" lol 4 times. I think my phone is trying to tell me something haha.

This don't pertain to the mhl adapter but I ended up getting Chromecast. And just recently Koush the CWM dev made an app Allcast that let's you use Chromecast to mirror your device no cords.

Hy guys!
I just found a jack to compozit cable in my cabinet. It has a Jack father and an RCA (red-white-yellow) father. I have got a pic, but Im new in here, so I cant link...
So, I just wondering, can we use this cable to connect the N7 to a TV?
I know, at the moment we can't, but why? Because the hardware limitation, or the android doesn't support this feature?

As far as I know, you'd just be transporting the audio if you were to plug it into any device. You'd have to have an extra adapter to port the video through the yellow composite video cable.
Though people have been known to make some wicked little mods, so you never know these days.
Nexus 7 does not have the hardware capability.

You could always use an MHL adapter to output to a TV, that is if the Nexus 7 supports that method. I've never tried it.

Thats awkward. So If we want to connent the tablet to a television, we must use some wifi app, and the TV must be a smart one...
Or can We take advantage of pogo-jack? I never seen before this kind of plug, so I dont know, what it can do.

anyway i dont really care about this
woops sorry! i tought its a cable is it safe:?
For HDMI out I don't think your cable will work. Majority of older phones use mhl for HDMI out but the n4 uses slimport and mhl cables will not work

1. Nexus 4 uses Slimport, not MHL. You'd need to buy a new cable anyway.
2. OTG only works with external power, and cannot work simultaneously with Slimport (No HDMI+OTG).
3. There is Miracast, but it sucks.
damn i bough cable wanted to experience playing games on hd tv but my phone bricked after that no chance let me see if that works whit htc one s (of my father)
anyway mine got a hdmi input and a power input and a micro-usb output
and slim port is it better? never heard about it

Well if you want to play a video or game via the video out mhl the thing is worthless if its output is at 30hz it just hicks up al over the place.
I purchased this devices because of the output at 60hz but sadly I have to bring it back as its output is at 30hz like the S3 which is just crap for gaming and video.
For video it will frame skip and gaming it will be laggy on gameplay so a piece of 450 euro crap.

Samsung you bastards!!!! Ok to get serious what do I need then ?
I need USB connections like on this device and HDMI out at 60hz.
Maybe you will need this thing: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA27H0PT0127
It says its MHL2.0 and is backwards compatible with MHL1.0 (but you will have to power it with micro USB cable)
There is no mentioning about the output but search with the model name and somewhere it will be mentioned.
This was known before launch to be honest. They made it very clear that this will be MHL 2 phone which meant all our existing accessories will be absolute. Sucks to be honest, but that is the name of the game. Sometimes they simply have to cut the cord to move to next standard.
In the end i've got the mhl 2.0 cable which works fine and it outputs at 1080p60hz. This is great for gaming. Movies I can use the dock for. I just attached a 1TB usb drive ExFat formatted and reads it fine. You do need to have a powered usb hub in between though. The dock doesn't have enough power to keep the drive spinning.

Does the Galaxy S5 supports MHL for HDMI out? I have the Samsung mhl adapter and the 11 pin adapter for the crazy S4. I have tried both connections and have been unable to get any video. Adapter tested and working with my old S4. Did verizon block this feature too?
Can anyone confirm or refute this?
Has anyone tried using the AllShare Cast HDMI adapter with the Verizon S5?

The Samsung MHL adapter works with my s5. I purchased it thru monoprice. Its packaged for the s3.
It only seems to work with the USB power pluged in. essentially there are three plugs on this cable.. the HDMI end, and on the other the micro USB (to phone USB 2.0 I believe) and the standard USB (to power brick).
behaved weird at first... (switched from connected to disconnected a few times) but then stabilized and work just fine....
only problem is you need to keep the phone pretty close to the power outlet (extension cord or surge protector).
all in all not bad for 17 bucks.
Hope this helps you guys.

Good to know, because I was going to swap out my current Clarion unit for an AR3.
Hi guys!
I know that USB type C can map to several devices (even VGA/HDMI).
How do we know which ones are supported?
I'd fancy buying a USB<->HDMI Adapter (smilar to the Slimport<>HDMI I have for my Nexus5).
Will it be supported?
It's not USB 3.1 so I don't know if all of those would still be supported.
In the reddit AMA the developers confirmed it would not have HDMI out. You could always mirror it with a chromecast though.
Then why USB Type-C if none of the goodies? Just for fast-charging and reversability?
Casting takes a lot of power and heat.
(Isn't losing video-out another downgrade?)

Well, quoting myself... Actually would the rendering at the device with dedicated hardware give up more heat than broadcasting via WiFi?
Which would take more power?
Allways believe that any kind of "air transmission" is quite power-consuming.

Yeah it is a downgrade. I never cared if a phone could stream HDMI before, but now that I'm seeing a 6P as way to carry a single device (no more tablet with HDMI + phone), it is disappointing. Plus, when I read about USB-C having so many capabilities, I was hoping the phone would include some of them instead of it just being a connector choice.
Strange choice leaving out the HDMI stuff etc. Don't understand it. I wonder if the 810 gets too hot outputting to HDMI.
I don't know if people would use stuff other than OTG or video-out. But it'd definitely be nice for some guys for other devices (even though most can be connected to OTG).
Ok... really just video-out
Casting generating less heat than rendering video... hmm..... no idea...

If you have ever done presentations using a micro-usb to HDMI cable, you know that this puts a lot of stress on the connector. And having to drag a cable all over the place is an inconvenience. This is with a Nexus 7 (2013). For me, the presence of WiFi Direct and hence Miracast is far more important. I find that with the Nexus 7 at least, Miracast works perfectly. I use an Actiontec Screenbeam Mini2 as a dongle. I am anticipatinf that the Nexus 6p will work as well, but we will see.

I don't think anyone wants the cable, per se. It is plug-n-play that we want. How do you go to a friend's house, hotel, couch-surfing, etc., and watch a movie that is on your Nexus 6P (on whatever televion is available).
